Have you finally found the perfect cue?

Yes sir, I have. As a matter of fact, I found 3. Trimmed down from MANY cues. Different applications, but I won't go into that.
A ~ Rick Howard - 4pt/4v Ebony into BEM, ivory joint/ferrule, 2nd shaft Westinghouse micarta.
B ~ McD D-3 Bubinga Merry Widow, standard ferrule, 2nd shaft Mason's micarta.
C ~ Pechauer Pro H ~ Solid 1 piece Curly Maple Butt, Juma ferrule.
D ~ Backup/Bar Banging cue - Schmelke true sneaky pete.

Yes. Finally. NOT!

after all this time buying, selling, trading, buying back, have you finally found the perfect cue.?

There is no such thing as a perfect cue. As long as the shaft is straight and has a nicely shaped tip, you are good to go.

Cues

I have a wrapless Tascarella Full splice I had built to my specs, and it feels just right to me, been playing with that for a while. I have a Joey Olivewood cue that I love but is a little too fat in the butt, so I ordered a new Joey with the same slimmer butt as the Tasc and I would not be surprised if I play with that sucker for the rest of time.

In search of the Holy Grail

I like this thread, not Monty Python, but this should get interesting.

Having owned and played with quite a number of cues including Tasc, Tim Scruggs, Richard Black, Arnot and a host of others I have been playing with, what for me is 'my' perfect cue for about 2-3 years.

I am shooting with a Jerry R cue which I got as one of the Dean/Jerry Bushka I projects. It is just shy19 oz, has a 3/8 X 10 wood to wood ivory sleeved joint. I have a 314 shaft with a kamui clear ss tip at 12.7 mm. Has a leather wrap.
Although I did get another Jerry R as part of Bushka II project, I am keeping that for my grandson.

Of course the search will never end; and I've tried a few other cues in the last couple years; but my Jerry R helps this Indian shoot as straight as my mind allows me.

Regards and Happy Hoildays to all

Dave

Yep. Until I got my Runde I was bouncing around between different cues and using
different LD shafts. I ordered a custom Runde that was what I've always wanted in a playing cue, clean and simple with green veneers. I got the weight and balance I like too so it feels just right. At first I had it with 2 12.75mm shafts but it just wasn't quite right. I had been using a Predator Z shaft so I was used to smaller. Ended up having Bob build me a 12mm shaft for my cue with his micarta ferrule and that was the ticket. Ever since then the cue has been perfect for me! It just feels right and does exactly what I want with the cue ball.

It's a great feeling to be settled with a cue I truly love.

When you keep returning to one cue in your stable, then you've come close enough. It feels very natural to me, so that's all you can ask for.

I used to do a lot of buying and selling in search of THE ONE. I've saved 4-5 cues over the years that stand out to me with a unique hit. I have at least one cue I'd never sell.

It's all about the SugarTree friends. If you haven't played with one, you're missing out on a very pure hit!

The Perfect Cue

after all this time buying, selling, trading, buying back, have you finally found the perfect cue.?

I have a perfect cue for me but the great thing is I can play with just about anything that hits good without a lot extranneous vibration going through it. I play good with anything I pick up most of the time but I prefer 12.80 natural maple, 14-16 in Pro Taper, lightweight plastic ferrule but I use regular 1 inch right now.

I have a few nice cues various weights and shaft configurations and I love all of them

One I got my hands on a Keith Josey cue, I quit looking. Oh, there surely are other great cues out there. But it finally dawned on me...table time is the path to improvement, more so than equipment.

Doesn't exist.

You'll think you have one, and then you'll try another, and it'll be better--for a while.

Buying cues/shafts/tips/chalk is an addiction. What makes it even worse is that it seems like the only cure is buying another one.

Yes.....But Then Again,, Perhaps Not.

Thanks to Dean, I became introduced to Bob Owen & Jerry Rauenzahn.
The last two cues made for me by Bob & Jerry were received last Memorial Day.

Well, those two cues did create a great memory for me and the cues turned out perfect.
Last time I looked, perfect was pretty hard to beat so that's why I wrote Yes in the title.

Here's why I wrote the "perhaps not". Folks pretty much know I have been on a mission.
There's one particular cue-maker I adore but despite my best efforts to find the right cue,
it hasn't happened and may never happen but nonetheless, I won't abandon the cause.

I have a hunch if he were to make me a cue, or I could locate one of his cues that met my
specs, then that cue would likely usurp the two cues made by Bob & Jerry as my "Utopia"

In the meantime, I just have to live with what I have but with all honestly I can write that if
it never happens, I am more than content to live with what I already am fortunate to own.

Thanks to Bob & Jerry and deepest appreciation to Dean. Bob and Jerry built these
cues to my specifications and both cues are identical so switching is so easy to do.

Well.... I don't buy cues to find the perfect cue. I've been using my Schuler for 15 + years. I'll break out my Andy Gilbert often, but the Schuler is far away the cue that's fit me and my game style.

My OB121 works for me. Can't wait to make a custom. Some beautiful cues in this thread.

Indeed I have.. Been playing with it since 2007. A beautiful Jack Madden one of a kind made just for me. I plan on shooting with it til I can no longer play which I hope is a long long time off. See it here Madden Cue.

My level of suck doesn't discriminate based on a cue but yes, my Mike Webb has been my player for several years and, unless something happens to it, always will be.
