Have you improved due to your participation here?

I doubt any serious player plays better because of AZB.

It's entertainment, nothing more. Too easy to conflate knowledge with improvement.

I would say yes, absolutely. I quit playing Pool for about 19 years, When I retired in 1998, it wasn't long before I got the Pool playing bug again. Even though I could still play well, no one is above learning JMHO.

Upon looking on the net, I accidentally found a forum for learning...., AZB. Because of that, I learned to play Pool at a higher level, even higher than before. Maybe my layoff gave my mind some years to ponder. The new information about banking, safeties, aiming systems, better equipment & better places to play, all served to give me more knowledge & a better game.

I'm getting old now, just turned 73. My problem now is having the stamina and/or want to....

AZB is great...

The primary reason for my improvement is due to me standing at a pool table with a cue in my hand but knowledge attained from this website has helped improve my game.

I forgot to add something... after learning something new, I was fortunate to learn good application of those new skills.

I've learned a lot on here that has helped improve my game. This is undoubtedly the largest resource of pool knowledge on the face of the earth.
Anyone that states they haven't learned much to help them improve isn't a serious player at all. And has no real desire to improve.

From aiming, to kicking, to banking, to positional routes, to stroking, to mental attitude, to applying english, deflection, squirt, swerve, tangent lines, the list goes on and on and on. No one knows all of it. And, a good amount of the knowledge has come about because of this forum. Without Bob Jewett, Dr. Dave, and others testing what has been posted on here, much of the known info would not be available. Because of them, many things that were thought to be true have been found out to be wrong.

If one takes the info on here and actually applies it to the table, there is only one direction one can go, and that is for their game to go up.

Well said.

Yes, I have.

I'm very appreciative of the posters who take the time to answer technical questions regarding this game. This community is far better off from their efforts.

I remember John Brumback, a pretty fair banker, started a thread for AZers to ask him anything about banking.

Years of knowledge shared, thanks John.

I have learned quite a bit from being here .
I can barely play at all anymore but thats from physical ailments .

Really can't say that I have improved my game by being on AZB but it has kept my head in the game and that is always a good thing.

This is an interesting sentiment and I agree. AZ brings out the "billiards fan" in pool players. It keeps our interest alive.

I would bet without this forum I may have lost all interest completely. I haven't been in the pool room for like 4 months now, although I hit balls around at home. This forum keeps me thinking about pool even though it doesn't seem to mean much to me anymore.

I think interests come full circle, even one as addictive as pool. That is probably what has happened to both of us. I no longer have that thirst for knowledge, desire to compete or own every cue on the planet. Pool has become more of a social and recreational hobby for me and AZ fits right in. I am now getting back into other lifelong interests that I am finding very fulfilling. Spending hours and hours on the pool table just isn't on the agenda.

There are a couple of tips i got from him and his video that i probably use every time i play.

Something to think about. Have you?

I know I have. The knowledge here is immense. Learning about matches, watching streams, reading about strategies and physics. Equipment reviews. Access to experts. I know more about the game and play better due to AZ.

Yes. I know more about the game and the history and the players because of AZB and forums in general.

I just wish this place was better moderated to get rid of the weeds.

I will say that yes my game has improved by taking what i learn here and putting it to use on the table. without table time is there really improvement?

Mike
