Hello everyone

Good luck to you Tonya in your chosen career. I wonder if you are aware that Jose Parica's wife has her own nurses registry in Southern California. If you are interested in meeting her, let me know. There are many filipinas who enter that profession in the USA. I'm sure you are aware of that also.

I think you should realize that most of the posters on here are grown men, and many of them spent years of their life in pool rooms. That alone will make you a little bit cynical about people, and their motives. First of all, it is a rare occurrence when a young woman joins this forum. There are quite a few women on here, but most of them have been around the billiard scene for a period of time.
Secondly, you did come on pretty strong for a 23 year old girl, chastising the guys who post photos of scantily clothed women. Yes, it may offend your senses, but you are in a poolroom type atmosphere here. If you entered a typical American poolroom, you would likely see and hear other things that would offend you. You can make a choice to ignore these things and enjoy the other aspects of AzBilliards, or you can continue to let it bother you.

As another poster said before, you cannot be too thin skinned on here. There is NO ONE posting on here who hasn't been criticized publicly on this forum (including me). This is one place that if you get out of line, you will get called on it. And I happen to like that. If you do choose to stay with this forum you will find a wealth of information available about all things pool related, and may even make some good friends along the way. There is a wonderful group of people who post on here, that will go to great lengths to help a fellow AZ'er.

You may ultimately find that AZ is a terrific resource for all kinds of things, that could be useful to you in your chosen career, In fact, I'm sure of that. Bottom line Tonya, you are a young attractive woman, and men will react to you in all kinds of different ways. But you are not a child, and you already know that. I commend you for standing up for yourself, but take a moment and consider how you might be perceived by someone who doesn't know you, and only read your posts #23 and #62.

Whether you choose to continue here or not, I wish you success in life and much enjoyment from the wonderful game of pool.

be careful Jay - that's real close to saying the rest of the lady members are NOT young  :nono:

I NEVER discuss a women's age.
I do know ladies who have been around the pool scene for years and are still in their 20's. They start 'em young where I come from. Sarah Rousey comes to mind first, but I could find many examples of young women who have loads of pool experience. Like you Meezer. Only 29 yourself, right? :)

I find the requests for "real" pictures to be funny. You can go on Flickr or any photo site and find plenty of personal pictures. Just rename them and no one will EVER find out where you go them. It's so easy to build an identity online if one REALLY wants to. I don't know if this is fake or not but I got the same feeling when I read the initial post.

Great minds think alike. I thought the exact same thing when I read the initial post.

Unfortunately, because of the very nature of forums, people do sometimes feel a need to create multiple identities. I am not saying the OP did this, but it sure does smelly kind of phishy!

imho...

call me the fool, but...

this thread reminds me of one of the greatest speeches i ever witnessed in my life - from Reverend Martin Luther King; quote:

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

not basing anything on tonya's pic, i admire her by the content of her character.

just my thoughts,
smokey

In my original post I was alluding to the content of her character. I wasn't suggesting that she wasn't who she said she was. That actually never crossed my mind until someone posted the link to the young lady that's identical to the pic "Tonya" posted as herself.

It was her coy character & watching people trip over themselves falling for it that prompted me to post something. While reading the posts, the only thing I could hear & envision was Scarlett O'Hara saying what was posted.

"Tell me how to post a pic of my 23 yr old self. Why fiddle dee dee you men are incorrigible with your looking at women as if they're objects. Oh, by the way, I'm 23, 5'10, 120 lbs. I shant speak to you for a yr you silly boys. Oooooh my pic is posted, now be a true southern gent and tell me how wonderful you think I am."

It was my feeling then and it's still my feeling now that some people allowed themselves to played like fiddles. It was the teasing & coy attitude of the posts that I found to be distasteful.

I'd say you're just the man to do it. I grew up in Knoxville, but haven't been back in a few years. I'd almost forgotten about Terry "K-Town Daddy" Landell. He ranks right up there with Cas Walker as a Knoxville icon.

Welcome Tonya, you couldn't have picked a nicer, more friendly area to relocate to in the U.S.
I know Terry "Landell" Bundarin pretty well, used to anyway. He is still involved in the wrestling scene last I heard.

She even took the same last name....nice piece of detective work there, cyberrot!

Although the reason for all the fuss this has generated is beyond me....

I did no detective work.
I just finished watching a drama serial whereby this Taiwanese actress was the lead actress in it.

Miss Tonya posted a picture of herself which looks very much like Miss Ariel Lin, which I think, is not correct. That is why I posted.

My apologies to disappointed AZ-ers. :embarrassed2:

Lol

Just pokin' at you - I had a laugh at how carefully you chose your words

Unfortunately I "represent my own remark" - I was 41 before I ever picked up a cue & decided to "teach myself how to play pool" :yikes: Became hooked immediately - love competition and the mental aspects of the game(s). I still have a lot of catching up to do and want to try 1P & 14.1

Take Heart, Jeri Engh STARTED playing on the women's pro tour after age 55. She was the BCA Senior Women's Champion the year before.
