Hey guys, I'm new on here. It's about time I started posting on a forum. I'm 19, been playing for almost a year now. I'm the most serious pool player at my college, seeing that I have a cue, case, and accessories. Everyone looks at my shooting glove and says sarcastically, "Ooh, this guy's fancy." Haha anyways, I'm very eager to learn and get better, so I will be asking a lot of questions, and I really appreciate any help. Take it easy.

Welcome and good luck Snake. If you wanna play pool this is
the place to be.:wave3:

I go to Vermilion Community College in northern MN. Not very big at all, so not a whole lot of competition. There is really only one kid who I can play and have a real close game with on my good days. The game room has two 8 footers with super worn cloth. Every time before I start a session, I brush the table thoroughly. The dust is so thick in the air afterwards that you can choke lol. I also put all the balls into a sock and kind of rub them clean.

Welcome to the forums. It's cool that you care about the equipment and take the time to do that stuff. Most people never understand what a different game it is playing on good equipment. Keep at it and don't sweat the guys who rib you about the glove. Some world champions have worn pool gloves. Post whatever comes to mind and also don't be afraid of the search button, there's a ton of good info that's been stored up over the years.

Thanks! Yeah, I will most likely search for some answers. It makes me mad when i see guys in there throwing cues around and things like that.

Hahahaha. I like Earl, but he is a poor sport. What makes me even more mad is that they don't even do it out of anger. They are jst laughing, playing around, and using them as swords. I'd like to introduce the heavy and of a house cue to their face.

if you can afford it head out to a local pool hall and get some table time in there. play anyone you can that'll play you for time. when you start winning doing that then it's time to bet higher.

spend time there even if you're not going to play. just watch better players when they're in tournaments or gambling. you'll learn a lot just watching!

never play for less than table time!

Glad you're here Jake. We usually get a ring game going around midnight. The nurses don't seem to mind as long as we don't get too loud. Yesterday the Doctor told me I might get to go home for a couple of days. See you around.

I like your attitude Jake. All I can say is hit a lot of balls. You will get better. Pool is not an easy game to learn. It can take years to be a good player. First you must learn shot making, being able to clearly see the angles to the pockets, and then make the balls. Then comes the hard part, learning cue ball control.

Not a bad idea early on to take a lesson from a good instructor. There's a few good ones you can find right on here. If you get your basics right from the get go, it will help speed up the learning process.
