Carom cue.

Fake?

I don't think there is anything fake about it.......unless you think that's a real signature and was made by the hands of RCH. The cue was made at the Adam factory like the rest of the Helmstetter brand cues. Is that what you are asking about?

Thanks

It`s for sale, but I`m not sure what it`s worth.

What would be a reasonable price?

Did not find any info on it in the Blue Book of Pool Cues.

Two different answers: Is it a Carom Cue or Billiard?

Look at those shaft tapers. Its a billiard(carom) cue. Made by Adam in Japan. Nice cue.

Billiards are Carom is the name for the same game like Pool and Pocket Billiards.

Billiard/Carom, same thing.

Values have been fairly strong on these lately. And that case is probably worth something as well.

I really don't know how to price it. Four shafts boosts the price.

The condition matters as well. It looks to have some dings and finish issues. Not too bad, but that does affect the value.

Even if you found it in the Blue Book that would only help identify the model. The prices listed there are irrelevant.

Cheap?

Thought it could be worth a lot since it`s vintage and With the signature.

I like it a lot, and he is asking $300 for everything.
Is that a good price for me or him?

For 300 I would jump on it, but I would as a matter of normal course make a lower offer.

Look at it this way: $100 for each shaft plus $100 for the Butt for any acceptable cue.

If you look at it that way that puts you at $500. I am not valuing it there, I am just saying to use that for some perspective.

I like it a lot as well.

All cues are hand made with the help of machines.

Good point.

Some involve more "hand" work than others, but essentially no cue is made exclusive of machines nor exclusive of hand work.

Usually, I think, people use the term "hand made" to mean the cue was made by an individual known craftsman.

It is a Carom cue and a Billiard cue... the terms are used interchangeably by many people,
esp pool players

At $300 it sounds like a good value for sure but you have to be happy with the shafts that are made for billiards, as has been mentioned already.

Other than that, I would suggest asking the seller if all is straight together and apart.

You'll get, at the very least, half your money back from that case. To this day, Adam billiard cues have a high position on the carom totem-pole. Looking at the shaft selection and how they're labeled like that, I have to think the cue was made for a top player, and that it was pretty near top-of-the-line in 1978.

I agree. If not a top player at least a very serious player.

That case is definitely cool.

Only custom cues r listed in the Blue Book.....Adams is a factory cue....not handmade

Not true. All of the American made production cues (like Meucci, McDermott, Viking, Joss, Schon, to name some examples) are all listed in the blue book of pool cues. Adam / Helmstetter cues may not be listed because they were not American made (so that might be why they were not in the blue book of cues). I can't remember if they were, or not.

I posted this earlier in the thread:

That's not true at all, there are many production cues in the Blue Book. Adam cues for example are definitely listed.

I just realized those links don't work. They must be blocking links.

Try this:
