Help!! Lost and missing cues Florida area- Reward

Wait a second, wasn't it YOUR fault you lost the cues? Why blame the guy that found them for YOUR stupid mistake? Didn't YOU put "Reward if found" on the case? I truly hope you get your cues back, but I think a generous reward is NOT out of the question! I guess it depends on how much you value your cues. Probably not much at all if you were that careless in losing them!
You know maybe this guy is an AZer and read your initial post where you said you will bring 20 of your buddies with you to pick up the cues...I know I wouldn't call again!

Yes, I lost my cues. I never blamed anyone for stealing my cues. I already said this. I offered a reward on the tag on my cue case, and I never even hinted at not coming through with it. I never blamed the guy for me losing my cues. Try to keep up with the timeline.

I WAS blaming him for keeping something he knew was not his. If you have property that you know does not belong to you, AND you do know who the rightful owner is, AND you even call to confirm how much that property means to that person- do you keep it anyway?

No matter what the circumstance is - Will you defend someone willfully keeping your property from you? How can you justify that?

It was only after we had an agreement to meet up and for me to get my cues and him to collect, and then he disappeared that I felt he was deserving of a less than friendly visit. After our agreed upon time had come and gone. No call from him, many unanswered calls to him and many messages and texts ( all friendly) had been ignored.

I already have said this, but will say it again. I was pretty disapointed with losing my cues. There are more details as to what led up to them falling up, etc, but it does not matter. I completely blamed myself for allowing them to be lost. I was not happy, but was able to deal with it just fine. However, I took it VERY personally to have someone call and say "I have your stuff" and then think they might be shopping around and weighing out what to do with my stuff, knowing that I was wanting what was rightfully mine and willing to pay them to do what is the right thing to do anyway.

Are you saying I should just say "oh well" and forget about it? Really? You felt strong enough to post about this. I would like to know what you sugest I should have done?

Please be careful West Palm shows up on COPS A LOT!!!! I think it would be better to let the sheriffs office know what you are doing. I would bet that they could send someone along to make sure you don't end up with a additional hole in you. Which is a good chance that this is headed in that direction.

i lived in west palm back in the 80s. i used to think that place had more crazy people per capita than anywhere else....i think memphis has that record today though.

any way 1 day back then a co-worker asked me to give him a ride home after work because his car was in the shop. when we pulled up at his house we saw a harley parked in his driveway and he said i wonder who is here. he asked me not to leave because he did not know who was there.

he goes up to the door and it is locked. he realizes his housekey is on the keyring in his car at the shop. he starts pounding on the door yelling for his wife to come out. then he goes from window to window banging and yelling.he yells if no one comes out he is going to set that bike on fire.

after getting no response he goes to the carport and gets a gas can and pours gas on the bike and sets it on fire. a guy comes flying out of the house with his shirt in his hand and starts beating the flames out with it.

joes wife comes out and her and joe start arguing. when the biker gets the fire out he tackles joe and they are on the ground rolling and punching each other. the cops pull up and break it up. the biker wants charges pressed against joe for setting the bike on fire and one cop says not going to happen that he would of done the same thing if someone was f@cking his wife. he told the biker to take it up with a lawyer if he wanted to go to civil court over it. the cops wait around until one of the bikers friends shows up with a truck to haul the bike, meanwhile joe told his wife to pack her stuff and leave with the biker.

after everyone leaves joe said lets go get a drink, i am all for that lol. we get to his hangout that i had never been to before and start shooting pool . before long there are about 4-5 guys rotating playing for 5-10 bucks depending on who has the table.

well the bar owner gets in it and he wants to raise it to 20.00 a game. a few drop out as we keep upping the action game after game and over time it winds up nobody left playing but me and the owner. when he winds up about 400.00 loser he turns around and yells at joe... what the hell are you doing bringing this hustler in this bar ?

joe said he aint no hustler, he is a guy that works with me. the owner said have you ever seen him play before ? joe said no and the owner kicks us both out and said never come back. joe had been a regular at that bar for 5 years he said.

sorry for the long story but that is just one of the many crazy days i went through in west palm beach.

I got my cues back!! :)

Thank you to all that have been supportive of me. Many of you are right. It is not often that these kind of things end well. Glad to say that this is an exception.

It seems with the exception of one person on here, everyone gets what is the right thing to do!

My idea of the reward is basically just a little extra incentive for someone to do what everyone already knows is right. That is all. It really should be enough to put your name and number on it and feel that someone would call you if they found it. Sadly, we know that just is not always the case!

Last night, after waiting it out all day and looking forward to getting my cues back, and then NOT hearing from the guy at all I started to freak out a bit. After many calls and texts went ignored, and more time went by, I could only assume the worst. I just felt that with every passing hour the chance that I was going to get them back was diminishing very quickly. I did not want to waste any time and then wish I would not have waited so long after the fact.

I texted with the guy many times just asking him to do the right thing. I was letting him know how much I wanted them back. Still nothing. I made it clear, I just wanted my cues back nothing else. Still no response.

I finally sent him a text with his own address. Just to let him know I knew where to find him. Keep in mind, he originally told me he lived in Stuart which is about 40 miles away from his true address which is right down the street from where i lost them. That is where he said he was when I first talked with him and was why he said he would get back to me later. There was enough details that just were not quite adding up, and why I felt I needed to push the issue a bit more.

I decided to hold off a bit with the visit and just give him the benefit of the doubt a little more. I checked around at some pawnshops and put the word out around town to be on the lookout in case someone came around selling some cues.

So, I decide to try to call the number one more time before going forward with anything. This time he answers. He said he was sorry but was sleeping and did not get my calls etc. I said no problem, I just want my cues back. Reward still stands. I tell him I want to meet right now. Well, he happens to be in town and can meet me in ten minutes down the road from his place.

I meet him there. No problems. I thank him and tell him how grateful I am that he found them and brought them to me. I let him know that I started thinking that I was not going to hear back from him and that I was freaking out about it. I apologized for doubting his intentions. Paid him some cash, and that was it.

Now I really am not certain if he was entertaining the idea of not giving them back or not. There were a few fishy details that did not add up, but you know what? At this point, I don't care. As I have said all along, All I wanted was my cues back. I am not sure if my texts and me letting him know I could find him swayed him into doing the right thing or not. Again, at this point, it makes no difference to me. We both came out ahead. I am glad to pony up some cash. I got my stuff back, and he got some cash for just doing what is the right thing to do.

......And they all lived happily ever after.

The end

By the way--- Talisman makes a hell of a case!!:thumbup::D

A fully loaded 3 butt 5 shaft case comes off a bike probably going at least 40mph and there is the smallest scuff marks on the case. Everything is fine and intact. Nothing came out and nothing damaged.

Awesome!

poolpro...Glad everything worked out. Now, go down to the bike shop and get a couple new bunji cords! LOL

Glad it was a happy ending. I had thought what of the outcome if your police officer friend had not been able to give you an address. The avoidance part on his behalf was what made me wonder if you were going to get them back. I have had a couple of b&es at my house. It wasn't that anything that was stolen couldn't be replaced. It was the part that I wanted to know who was responsible.

I have drag bars on mine so the case is bungee'd in front of me.

PS - I was teasing you about the mopeds. I got a mental pic of 20 burly bikers pulling up in front of the guys house reving their engines.
Altho I still have a couple of Harleys, my biker days are pretty much over, if you know what I mean and I think you might.

Great news.

And I am impressed with the fact that the case and cues survived the fall.

Well all is done, the cues are back and one poster looks, well not so much, is all I can think of at the moment. Glad they are back home safe & sound great case for protection, but I think you need to find a less stressful test for it the next time!!

I probably would not have done anything differently! With one exception...I would not have posted on a public bulletin board that I was going to show up with 20 of my buddies! Had you shown up on his property, you probably would have gone to jail and he would have kept the cues! Fact is, he could have just kept the cues without calling you in the first place! Give him some credit for calling...and, the deduct some for taking so long to return the cues! Glad to hear you got them back!

Great ya got everything back and especially without road rash on the case!

maybe the guy was ok from the start. but i could well imagine your fears growing without hearing back from him in a timely manner thou.

ride safe,
smokey

Glad you got them back! I would have been thinking the same thing you were, and minus the "hogs" would have formed a posse as well if needed... :)
