Help! Smudge on my table

I'm posting this here instead of on the "ask the mechanics" section because I'm sure many here have had this problem.

I have a small smudge that mysteriously appeared on my table. It's only about 3/8 inch but noticeable. It is dark and I could not brush it out. It might be any number of things, but I believe it might be makeup (not mine).

My question is for those of you that have dealt with this, what suggestions do you have to remove it or most of it without making it more noticeable. Once years back, I had something like this and tried to clean it and regretted it afterwards. I used a regular household cleaner and made matters worse.

I have an extra piece of Simonis tournament blue HR 860 cloth to experiment with using some suggestions I hope to get here.

You might stop by your local dry cleaner and ask them for a few ounces of dry cleaning fluid (dry cleaning isn't really dry). Try wetting a spot of your test strip and blotting it up with a terrycloth towel. Or, better yet, ask the dry cleaner for suggestions of how to use it.
 
Frank, you better get rid of that makeup stain before your wife finds out ;)

Try denatured alcohol.

No trick just work it in a little and let it dry (fast) and might take 2-3 times. Obviously do NOT scrub the cloth.

By the way - we ALL believe you when you deny it is your make-up.

You do know that when you get over 70 - you are not supposed to care what other people think :)

There was a product called Chalk Off or something like that a few years back that you would see in used in some of the tournaments. I have used it with success on Simonis 860 stains. You spray it on and wipe it off. It took a number of repetitions but ultimately removed the stain.

I believe it is pretty much like the dry cleaning stuff mentioned in an earlier post. I googled it and saw something called Quick Clean that looks like the same thing

I gave up on Chalkoff and Quick clean at $12 a can.

I use Blue Coral foaming car upholstery cleaner. It works great for $6 a can.
