Help with a legal situation, how to fix this?? Az'ers i need your advice?!?!

Hi MIke....It's Matt B.

How ya doin Mike? I know medically you've been thru hell and back more than once.......now you got this crap pile to deal with.

By the way, remember the black satin Schon jacket I got from you....I gave it to one of my daughters who just turned 21 and she wears often when she goes out with her friends.....and the funny part is she doesn't even play pool.....but it sure does attract lots of guys when she wears it.

In regard the situation at hand, always remember that free advice is worth exactly how much you pay to get it........."Nothing"........but sometimes there's truth in what might be brought up as conversation.

Knowingly engaging in the traffic of pirated CDs is definitely something you do not want to do but that's not what you'd actually be doing. You aren't selling the CDs and the fact that you bought, or received, CDs that may or may not be originals, or let's even say after the CDs arrived you "concluded" or "became worried" that the CDs were not originals......doesn't matter.....you are merely returning the property to its rightful owner.

Just make sure you include a written statement that advises the recipient that the CDs are being returned since you believe them to be copies and you cannot accept any CDs which are not originals unless the CD copy was duly authorized by the respective copy righted owner of any and all proprietary information, materials, photos and illustrations contained on the CD.

If you want to make this more iron-clad, just send a cc to your local District Attorney's office to illustrate and corroborate your good faith intentions. At the same time, you also have the added defense that since you do not know with absolute certainty these CDs are illegal copies, simply as a safeguard, you've returned the merchandise to its owner and have simultaneously notified the local legal authorities. Personally speaking, I wouldn't bother to cc the DA's office because they won't do anything.....the US Post Office is a lot more likely to do anything.

Regardless, I think just including the letter with the CDs suffices and offers you added protection. And keep in in mind what I stated earlier about the value of free advice...........mine included.

You don't have to use the USPS, send them UPS, or FedEx (not part of the Federal government ). Fool yourself into thinking that they are legal....just send them.

Posts like this are the reason I love AZ Billiards.

Thanks for typing that,

The correct answer is:

Go on the website which sells those DVD's. Order them. Give the address of the other guy to the nice people who sell the DVD's.

He gets the DVD's back, your conscience is clear and the nice people who sell them make money.

You're welcome,
Al

be smart about it.

A man of high ethics and great fear of the federal government has one simple option. Both parties set a value on the DVD's when the trade was made. The original owner of the DVD's should be perfectly happy with that amount of cash in trade for the DVD's. Destroy them and send the cash to the other party, use a money order and certified mail. Nothing further illegal on your part and you run the risk of men in black coming bursting in with full automatic weapons every moment you have them in your possession. Destroy them immediately and send the already established cash value back to the original owner of the DVD's.

I'm not a lawyer, but this is a very serious mess you have gotten yourself into.

I feel that it would be best to self enroll in the witness protection program, in case they come after you.

One of the requirements would be to sever all ties to your previous existence. The first step would be to forget this site exists, you need to stop. Now.

It's the only way.....

Now you've gone and done it Hu, they pulled you in and now you've implicated yourself, as a party before the fact and a co-conspirator, to the high crime of defrauding the United States government in avoidance of illegally transported, pirated, federally copyrighted, international entertainment. :p

Confession, turn state's evidence, and witness protection, may be your only out. :sorry:

^^^^^^^^

This. What are you talking about here, a couple hundred dollars? I wouldn't even give this a second thought if you're truly that concerned about the potential consequences of mailing the DVD's back. Now I think that is stupid beyond belief, I have to wonder about what kind of world you live in.

sounds great!

That sounds great! Relocation, new job, I'm all for it. I wanna be a pianer player in a knocking shop, can't decide yet if I want to go to the Rockies or Hawaii though. Maybe they would let me have a summer and winter gig? Can't be too careful as deeply involved as I am in with major criminal activity now, I might even need to be given ten million or so and shipped off to a country without extradition or even official relations with the USA. I was thinking maybe Mexico, Cancun or Alcapoco? Caulifornia? I'm new to this life of crime, so many decisions to make! Peru and Brazil have a certain appeal too. Maybe I can just get a traveling gig pimping for the Secret Service guys!

LMFAO!!!

According to my wife (not kidding)...possible career options to hold out for when in deep hiding in federal witness protection program:

Pasty Placer in a Titty Bar
G-String Tester in a Gentleman's Club
Team Physician for the Dallas Cowgirls (that's for me :D)
Sun Tan Lotion Applier for the Swedish Olympic Jello Wrestling Team

really beginning to believe you are just a crooked idiot

This is really getting out of hand. Six months ago he was here asking for used cloth so The Boys and Girls Club could make projects to make and sell. I paid $40 shipping to send him all the cuts I have. There IS a Boys and Girls Club involved, he IS trying to do the right thing, he IS trying to help them, and he IS just trying to do the right thing here. I guess 'no good deed goes unpunished', right, Mike? Don't worry about this crap. Keep your focus on the kids, get this cleaned up, and let me know if I can help with anything else.

FWIW, recovered 2 bumper pool tables at the local Boy's and Girl's Club recently in White City, OR. Replaced a bunch of bumpers and balls. Haven't been paid. Won't call and don't care. Move on.

One more job to aspire to: No BS, Pensacola Florida passed a law that a certain percentage of skin had to be covered by bikinis on the beaches. Naturally they needed an official measurer or two to enforce this. I heard that the line of applicants streched for hundreds of yards!

My two cents

Not like anyone would give a shit what I have to say, but I would say quit hiding behind the "this is illegal thing" and just send him the dvd's. The thing that you are worried about, you are also guilty of. On a thread linked here you use someone else's photos in your sale, that photo is the property of someone else.

Its not a huge deal to mail them, hell the USPS is the largest drug and money delivery service on the planet.

All you are doing though is making other people, myself included weary of doing business with you.
