Dear all,
It turns out that I have to part with my Joel Hercek full splice cue for personal, family reasons. I have had it for maybe a bit more than a year or thereabout and haven't used it for several months now.
I have attached a scan of the Letter of Authenticity I personally have received from Joel, something that lists most of the important information. Yet, I shall list them here for easier perspicuity:
- This particular cue is one of the two cues ever Joel built with 5 veneers - something that he will never do again, as he told me.
- The butt's rosewood prongs were cut by Burton Spain himself, decades ago, to Balabushka specs - hence the five veneer configuration -, and Joel finished the cue using a straight grain maple forearm out of Burton's personal stock.
- The cue is Joel's 23rd cue, as it is noted in gold on the inside of the bumper
- It is one of four cues ever Joel has added weight to using a special method he had learnt from Spain
- It is the only cue Joel has ever installed a cork wrap to, which was later on changed to another cork wrap by Paul F. Drexler, the wrap is an absolutely perfect fit, while the original finish remained intact
- The cue has three original, full, 13mm shafts, one lacks a tip, the other two still have the ones I received the cue with from a collector, all three have been played with, one is extremely lightly, the others moderately. I will clean them before shipping. No abrasives have ever been used on them and all have ivory ferrules with pads.
- The cue is not marked anywhere (other than the hand-writing on the bumper), however, during my communication with Joel he said that he will add SPAIN/HERCEK on the butt cap free of charge. Naturally, I will have to ask him about transferring this right onto You, but I doubt that it would be any problem at all.
- As for the condition of the cue I can report that the finish is just about perfect all over the cue and it definitely is one of the very cleanest examples of any cue that is of this age. One note is that one of the shafts has a scratch on it, it was there when I received it and Joel said that if it is a problem he will remove it as well - since we assume it happened during shipping. I have not played pool this year other than two occasions and therefore I couldn't check the cue's straightness but I am sure it either is 100% straight or not imperfect to any more extent than how much wood naturally moves due to changes in temperature and humidity.
- The cue plays incredibly solid, it is a fantastic cue to play with and I can assure you about this fact just as well as about everything I have written above.
My asking price is $SOLD shipped for the cue which is about as good for a Hercek as any, not to mention all the special pedigree this cue has.
I don't really know what else I could say, I truly believe that this cue is a stellar example of the tradition Burton Spain has built and Joel further advanced and is priced very reasonably considering the ever-growing value of Hercek cues and Joel's closed order book that is already filled for the next 15 years.
I hope that I have managed to give a thorough description of the cue, yet, again, if you have any further questions please feel free to ask.
Kindest regards,
David Bredan
P.S.: I am in Hungary, I take PayPal and I can do escrow if necessary. You may check my iTrader I have bought and sold several cues in the couple-thousand range and I can get many people to vouch for me and you can check everything with Joel.
This should show the presence of the blue veneer better.
