Here are some Collectible Huebler Cues

I have the fancier Chess cue, about 25 years old and still unplayed, but it does not have the ebony shaft. I have a few of the rare customs (Including the US Open) and feel it is a good investment. E.G.: Entry level Scruggs cues with points and veneers are selling for about $1500. These are no where near as rare as some of these more rare Huebler cues.
Some day when the market gets better, I may part with some of the cues. For the right price or trade any are for sale now. I think Paul will be 82 this year and no more will be made.

do you know where his shop is?????

I bought this one for my wife in 1999.
Purd
She won't give it up. I paid $800 for it.

Purd, that is a beautiful example of Pauls work, your wife has great taste, and I think you stole the cue for $800 even in 1999.

Thanks for the photo's and your post.:)

Paul Hueblers Shop

In 2007 while visiting my brother in Missouri, I drove to Linn Missouri to Pauls shop to visit and see the inventory he had been telling me to buy out.
As I drove into the nice small town just east of the capital, Jefferson City, I was impressed, but surprised how small it was. His shop is a block or two south of Highway 50. The outside of the huge building was mostly cinder block in need of a paintjob. If I remember it is about 22,000 sq. ft.

I spent a few hours with Paul, mostly listening to an incredible life story, and touring the shop. Paul was adamant about not parting his shop out and especially not being sent out of the country. On the other hand he realizes that a production shop such as his would have a difficult time competing with the oriental competition. He was unable to do it, going from about 37 employees in the 90's to 12, to 2, and since the early 2000s, only one employee.

The value of the materials alone is staggering. As he said, it would take deep pockets to buy him out, and then it would be necessary to part out at least half of the lumber to recoup the investment. With an investor (or if my Powerball ticket hits) I wish it were possible to do something with his business. It is a pity to sit idle. Any ideas?

I have many Custom pics I can email. I will try to reduce the size so as to fit the AZ format.

Nice Old Huebler, did it come with the Leather Wrap or did it originally have a Linen wrap?

Thanks for sharing

No, added when I had it refinished.

I've never found a better hitting cue, not that I haven't looked.

Huebler pics

The US Open is truly a beautiful cue. I have a couple of Hueblers that I will try to post pictures of. I too, have always felt that a Huebler plays as well as any cue.

Really don't know the value of the cue...would never dream of selling so I never checked it out.

When I sent for refinish, I insured for 5k....but that was just to cover the bases.

I still have the orig butt cap...but the wrap was way past due when I had it done.

Manwon my freind has a huebler almost identical to the simple one with the bullseye that hes being trying to get me to buy for a while now any idea what a fair price would be for a cue like that, thanks .

The cue with the Bullseye is listed in the 2nd edition of the Blue Book of Pool Cues. The model is "Custom Birdseye" and at the time it was published in 1999 the Mfr's suggested retail was $690 with the value droping according to the condition of the cue. Since you can no longer purchase them new, the value for this cue in excellent condition should be higher but I couldn't guess how much. Hope this is helpful.
