im going to make this short.ive been lucky enough to win the usopen.well because of that im going to be on the cover of one if not more of the major billiard magazines.im not saying this to brag ,but friday of next week im doing the photo shoot for the mag .im looking for sponsorship and if i land a deal or two by then it will be a nice opportunity for a company to be plastered all over the cover of the december issue. anyway i saw larry nevel asking on another thread and it got me thinking hey this is a good way to reach people in pool.anyway thanks for reading and if you would like to discuss something about a deal please pm me.p.s. larry nevel would be an exellent choice also as he is a great player and will go far in pool.

I can't help you out with sponsorship, but it wasn't luck that won the US Open, it was you.
 
I'm thinking you should wear a shirt....

A lot of people here at AZB are proud of you for your accomplishments and your character....I, for one, am very surprised that you haven't already been snapped up by a sponsor, what with your high profile win in the US Open...I just want to say you have a new fan and good luck to you in the future....also you show a lot of class with your recommendation of Larry Nevel...

I knew when I saw him at the pro tournament in Melbourne that he was freaking awesome! Then that straight pool run!!

wahycheck, John IS a CLASS act. I trusted him and he trusted me. All I did was give him a check at the Open so he could pay his bills when he got home if he didn't win anything. When it was over, he did exactly what he said he would do and I bought the check back, uncashed. That is class my friend. We both had the time of our lives!!!

well first i want to say thanks to everyone for the nice words about the open .second to purdman he was fun to have in my corner,hes a good guy and funny to, he made me laugh with some of the things he said,hes witty.anyway as far as sponsorship it kind of goes like this. a player is worth however much time in front of cameras and mags and internet he can get. now i can get backed fairly easy which is a person putting up expenses and then getting half.which is fine for both parties normally.but what im looking to do is get my expenses paid and in return a company most likely in the pool industry will get advertising.its not that im not willing to possibly do the backer thing but it would have to be for like a year or two not one tourney at a time.another thing id like to add is someone mentioned what a losing proposition it is to stake me and if someone backed me in every tourney i played in expenses and all they would be ahead.well bye for now and thanks for your time everybody.p.s. if anyone has any ideas or questions feel free to pm me thanks john schmidt
 
Good Q - how much are you looking for? I might be interested in having you wear one of my shirts for the photo shoot - and pay for that.

John, I would contact the ones you currently see on TV production etc. like Sardo or Simonis or Predator etc. they are well aware of the front page values that BD and the others create. Olhausen or the table mfg. that you played on in VA.

Congrulations again on the Open, and good luck with getting a sponsor.:)

I just finished watching your match against Mike Sigel at the 2000 US Open. You showed a quite a bit of composure running out the match after he broke his cue following the scratch in the side pocket.

Dave...Don't be a NIT and sponsor the most recent winner of the US Open for the next 2 years....not just for 1 single magazine cover.
