First of all I'd like to publicly say thank you to all the people who supported me in my victory a couple weekends ago at the US Amateur Championships. I played well and was fortunate enough to have the support of some wonderful people who helped keep me focused and level headed throughout.

I know that there had been some speculation since my victory regarding whether or not anyone had previously held both the ACUI Collegiate National 9 ball title and the US Amateur championship title both during the same year. After some research and cooperation from both the APA and the ACUI Collegiate championships board, it is confirmed that no one has ever held both titles simultaneously.

It is a great feeling to know that no one else has held this combination of titles to date and I'm glad I could represent the body of collegiate student athletes so well during the US Amateur Championships. It definitely was a tough event with some great players. All of which conducted themselves with class and sportsmanship.

Thanks again to those who've helped me get to this point. You've all been a great help in the past development of my game. I'd also like to thank my best friend Dave Uwate for his mentor-ship and guidance. My coach Robert Raiford for the intensive training and guidance in the mental and technical aspects of my game, and finally the owners of Good Time Billiards, Javier and Carlos Chirino for their generous accommodations to me and my practice schedule.

See you all next year at the US Open!

Ray, your claim is that you're the first to hold both titles simultaneously. Unless I'm missing something, it looks to me (from examining those lists) like you're the first to hold both titles -- without regard to whether it is or is not in the same year. Right?

That's a very astute observation sir. Thank you for pointing that out. Of course I'm sure we'll all agree that there are those on both lists who would've been more than capable of accomplishing this same feat.
