Hohmann loses to Ko because of the Cyclop balls

In this case, had it been the table all the balls would have done it in the same spot.
Cyclop are noted for this. Lots of pros have complained about it.
Random roll-off on a slow rolling cue ball.

9Ballr, did you contact Lou to let him know? He is now the self appointed Cyclop pool ball expert. He just told me today. Of course he will ask for your taped interviews with all the players who complained and several videos from different angles, in slo-mo of course. You can't just come on here and make assertions like that without running it by Lou first. Shame on you! ;)

Tell us all why the original Cyclop cue ball rolled off, oh wise one. What I find most interesting that in your post #58 you admit that there was one instance (how about the first time they were used in a major pro tourney) where the cue balls were defective and had to be replaced and yet you admonished me for proof in your post #78 when I commented on exactly the same issue. In your posts #79, 81 and 102 you continue along the same theme, all the time knowing that what I said was true. Methinks you speak out of both sides of your mouth sir.

c'mon, Jay, keep up, we've been all over this.

The CBs at that tournament rolled off because they were produce right after the factory was relocated. The best theory anyone had was that the machinery that made the balls got whacked out of tolerance during the move. A factory rep was at the tournament and when they saw how the CB behaved *immediately* had new CB's shipped overnight from China to fix the problem.

Lol.....hehehe

I'll take the 'real' pros words for it.
When every pro on the block complains there's something going on.
However the complaints fell on deaf ears because of the money Cyclop were dumping into tournaments.
So people just kept/keep on playing and the promoters couldn't be happier.
Money money money.....

News to me.

So, what have all the pros complaining about Cyclop balls said?

If, as you say, it's "every pro on the block" you should have no problem citing dozens of quotes right off the bat.

Lou Figueroa
waiting for all the quotes
with bait on my breath

Dear Lord.... this will never end.......they have said that the cue ball skids all over the place and that you can't slow roll any shots with them because you never know where the cue ball is going.

But you probably want a notarized audio recording stamped and sealed by the FBI.

If you're so in, in the pool world you probably know what Decaine, Boening, Hohmann, Souqet, Archer and others have said.

If you're that interested jut talk to them off the record. Not exactly something they'd say in interviews considering my text above and all....lol but they're unafraid to say it in private.

Oh......and many pros have said that they simply hate playing with them....period!
Rolling or not. Don't know the details.

Balls are made in China, by a Taiwanese company using US technology.....lol
https://youtu.be/2bxBqVyQnSw?t=6m35s
By the way donating 380 sets....I'm sure some promoters will be very happy with that.
If they sold them for 200 bucks a set that's 150 x 380 = 57,000. Not bad...

I'll stick with Belgian.

US technology?
Does the rep even know Belgian balls are made in Belgium?

You "don't know the details" but you know that "every pro on the block" does not like playing with Cyclop balls, lol. Funny too that suddenly you dropped that "every pro" down to "many pros." What next? "A "couple of guys" down at the pool hall I play at don't like Cyclop balls?

Forget about tapes, you can't provide anything, can you.

no, no
that was't a question

That's a nice story Lou. I found your "theory" to be very entertaining. That's why we have hammers, to whack that damn machinery back into shape. I won't ask you for the company records on all this or your communications with them. I'm sure, knowing you, that you keep that kind of stuff handy just in case.

By the way, you seem to be an expert at speaking out of both sides of your mouth, so you've got that well covered. I promise you that when I see you again I will send you a message from my ass. :grin-square:

No theory.

That's straight from someone directly involved in replacing those CBs at that event.

Yes.

As soon as Jay and 9Ballr provide any reasonable evidence of "every pro on the block" hating on Cyclop balls.

Lou Figueroa
I can wait
just not

You heard the man, straight from the horse's mouth. Well, that's good enough for me!

I like the part where you put "every pro on the block" in quotes as if one of us said that. I defy you to show me where I said that and am doubtful 9Ballr did either, but nice try anyway.

What I do have is a signed petition by 69 top pro players regarding the Cyclop cue ball. You believe me right.
P.S. They don't hate the cue ball. They hate the machine that did it! They all said the same thing, BAN the machine. :p

Yes, I talked to that same rep that Lou did at that tournament. The rep realized the balls needed replacing that night and as Lou said he got them OVERNIGHT from China for the next day of the tournament.

How did he accomplish this: He was close friends with a high government official in China who arranged for a Chinese air force pilot to receive the cueballs and take them by jet to Hawaii where there was a special clearance for the jet to land. He then arranged for the Chinese air force pilot to drop them off to a U.S. air force pilot in Hawaii who flew them by jet to the tournament. The air force pilot was met by a helicopter pilot who flew him to the venue where he handed the cueballs off to the rep for start of play the next day.

You should learn to believe Lou when he says he got something from some unnamed horse's mouth. Lou never lies or makes things up.

From two years ago in reference to the Cyclop CB rolling off at tournament:

Just a brief comment on the issue, on a broader note. I was talking to PS of Diamond a few weeks ago about something else and I brought up the subject of the Cyclop balls. And he mentioned the the CB rolling off in the video in the other thread (you know, the one in which KS whispers about "the problem").

It so happens that the head of Cyclop was in attendance at that event and Paul said that he and the Cyclop guy took a few CBs into a private room to experiment and sure enough, there was a problem. In Paul's words, the Cyclop guy was "mortified" and immediately picked up the phone and had a box of CBs overnighted from the factory and they replaced all the offending CBs the next day.

The explanation is complex, involving how the balls are made, percentage of phenolic, and the grinding process, but bottomline was that the Cyclop guy figured that as they expanded production, the grinding process (in between layers) had gotten out of spec. So he ordered that it be recalibrated to even higher tolerances than before.

All that is just my recollection of our conversation and if I got anything wrong that's on me, not Paul. Personally I feel that between what happened at the 8ball tournament and MG's recent offer to replace balls, I don't think anyone can question their commitment to providing us a quality product.

Lou Figueroa

I've had Cyclops balls now for 9 years. The original ones. They're cubes. They don't roll off at all.
