A little update on the goings on at Hollywood Billiards In L.A. First of all, it's cold! I mean like San Francisco type of weather. What happened to global warming? I'm freezing my n--- off! 
I make them keep all the doors shut all day long, unusual for May in SoCal.
We had a full field of 64 players, so pool is alive and well out here. And a strong field too I might add. Right now Ramil Gallego (yes, he's here!) and Louie Ulrich look like the class of the field. But Tang and Parica are still undefeated as well. Along with both Dominguez's, and the big surprise MELISSA HERNDON! We had three women in the field, but only Melissa made the final sixteen, and she's still on the right side of the board.
The last of the eight undefeated players is Jeff Gregory a fine player from N. Cal. Jeff, did you bring this weather down with you? It's so un-L.A. like!
Tang actually stayed and practiced after his matches were over. I haven't seen him do that in years. He's playing GOOD! And he loves his new OB-1 shaft, fitted to his Kent Davis cue. Oscar and Ernesto are right at home here, considering they are responsible for the tight ass Gold Crowns. 4" pockets will separate the men from the boys. My apologies to Melissa.
On the loser's side are some softies like Victor Ignazio, Francisco Galindo and Damian Alishan, all very good players. And our own Josh Palmer is still in! He squeaked by Josh Ulrich (Louie's better looking brother) 7-6 to make it to the final sixteen. Nice run out that last rack dude!
The final sixteen are all in the money, with $1,600 up top. Not a bad weekend for somebody. 1K for second, also not bad.
P.S. Ten Ball is a great game on tough tables. We are playing the 10 counts on the break, and why not. It's much harder to make the 10, then the 9 in 9-Ball. We had exactly ONE 10 ball go on the break yesterday! HELLO! That rule of allowing the 10 to count if it goes in the bottom four pockets only stinks. One thing I've noticed is that frequently players break very hard and nothing goes. It's very common. The break is much harder in Ten Ball, and that's a good thing. In fact, it sometimes looks like the player (rack your own) has "slugged" himself.
