I'm not a hater, i just think it's absurd for people to be snobs just because they can properly cover a pool table. As i've said, it's not exactly rocket science. Pool enthusiasts come on here and ask for help so they can recover their own table, and they're givin the cold shoulder because you and others somehow think it's taking your job. That's complete and udder b.s. I suppose you think me changing my own oil in my car, or doing maintenance/repairs myself is stealing someones job too? God forbid i cut my own grass then, huh? Personally i think if someones handy, they will do a better job on their own table than most "pro-mechanics". I said most, not all. If you're too ignorant to realize that a person will take more care and pride in doing their own table than some hack they find in the phonebook will, i guess there's no getting thru to you. You pros should encourage anyone that is even willing to take on such a project, not belittle them. Acting like a jerkish snob will lose you more bus. in the long run, than helping people out. Believe that sh!t
First off, I know I'm wasting my time with you.....who said anything about recovering a pool table? Did you not read the post...or are you that ignorant ?
I didn't knock Donnie or anyone...and as far as cutting grass or changing oil...are you serious...that's apples and oranges compared to pool table work...but then again..reading your posts you wouldn't know the 5 ball from and orange anyway.
I have no problem giving info out to people on how to do it yourself...I do that almost everyday...along with helping people and not charging them...so don't bark at me about being a bad guy...believe me I do more for people then you can imagine.
I'm far from a snob....you just think your going to put some words out here and someone is going to agree with you...or take your side.
You have no clue what we go through as table mechanics...Donnie's a top notch table mechanic on the west coast...he shouldn't ask for help on an open forum...yes I do agree with him to post pics of before and after.
First off he doesn't need customers thinking he needs help to do any job...the kind of work he ask for tips on...well how many people with their own table would attempt that job?
When I say a hack will try and do the work cheaper on what they see on here...that's for real.
The guy wants to bid a cheap price...get the job, **** it up....now when we give a higher price...the customer thinks he's getting ****** again.
The bottom line is this..no one is going to take work from a good table mechanic..just under bid for the job. We're on here trying to educate the customers on the difference between a good job and a hack job...along with some basic helpful tips on their home tables for free.
I don't care if the home owner wants to recover his own table...good for him...there's still more work out there than we can get to. What we don't need is showing work on here for the hack's that are always knocking the other good mechanics to land job's because of our price.
Do you think a guy that owns his own table is going to replace the sub-rails...I think not...but the hack gets the idea and will attempt the job just to get some money.
I don't knock anyone on here giving tips on how to recover, level, or fix some problems on their own table.
MY CONCERN WAS ABOUT SUB-RAIL WORK...NOT RECOVERING TABLES....READ BEFORE YOU BARK.
HERE'S SOMETHING SNOBY FOR YOU....YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU READ ON HERE..GO READ A BOOK ON POOL TABLES...THEN MAYBE YOU'LL KNOW A LITTLE SOMETHING IN WHICH YOUR TALKING ABOUT.
