how are ya'll doing in league ?

I am debating dropping this team she the singles division starts but man I think we have a good team..... Not good enough to qualify for Vegas but a good team never the less

It's hard to quit a good team... My 8 ball doubles and 9 ball teams are both decent. But I may give up 8 ball now that another league is moving in. I do really enjoy my 9 ball night on Thursday. Excited to play tonight. I get to play a 9 if everything works out with the numbers and put ups.

Killer nite tonight, LO was a douche and let a team join several weeks in, so we had to play two matches (each match had 8 and 9) simultaneously...this was difficult because with 4 people on the tables and a limit of 8 players strategy was pretty much out the window. Our team went 9-1 in eight ball and 8-2 in nine ball. This will put us firmly out in first pkace in each discipline with 5 weeks to play and a bye next week.

I actually only got to play 1 match, beat a 3 four games to one and missed only once the first three games...fantastic night.

Sunday night double jeapordy I beat the same 3 in both 8 and 9 ball..

Won 9 ball 46-18 . Our team won 68-32.

In 8 ball I won 4-1 letting him get to the hill so the score was 2-1. We on 11-1 with me giving up the only point they earned .

Our team was firing on all 8 cylinders so to speak. Maybe getting rid of a player this week that caused us headaches helped . He was supposed the best player on the team but we did quite well without him last night.

End of season big tournament yesterday for the local No Limit League. 9-ball on Valley bar boxes, Aramith Tournament balls, Championship cloth. Single elimination, races to 9, games on the wire handicap. Worst match-up can be 9-3 (6 on the wire). League is handicapped similar to chess (like FARGO league).

Although this isn't related to the APA, at least four of the players are SL-9s in the APA just to give some strength-of-player context.

Long and short, I won the tournament for the second time in a row, and I didn't have to play anyone with a spot .

Last season, the tournament was held on some of the worst equipment imaginable. I'm glad they found a venue worthy of such a tournament. Jolt N Joes of La Mesa, CA (San Diego).

Good payout. 18x the ante. LOL!!! the league already pays out for every money ball on the snap, break and run, and a bunch of other performance things (lag leaders, shutouts, etc). And they put a lot of money into a Snap Pot. So, lots of money added to different areas. Pretty good league.

So, it's a nice end-of-season tournament intended to get league players into the tournament (season-ending payoff can only be collected at the tournament).

The fun and the bragging rights greatly out-weighed the payout. But I'll take the payout!

Joined a 9 ball league just starting up at the small bar/pool hall I play at. Sadly because it's just starting only had 4 teams and currently we are 2nd(1st after this week hopefully) and haven't lost as a team(only second because LO screwed us out of 30 bonus points but didn't tell us why). Any way the LO is not bumping me up for some odd reason despite other players playing at a lesser level being bumped up and find it insulting and it's rolled over into my games making me more serious and focused on winning. I dominated again this week against another 5 winning 18-2 match points(15-5,18-2,16-4,18-2 so far ^_^). I've also been playing with a house cue and this week a 6 I beat the previous week gave me a free cue and case as he said he hates to see good shooters playing with a house cue(despite me bragging a bit after I got a bit buzzed after the matches).

TL/DR: LO won't raise me to a 6 has made me more focused after a year of not playing in league and am undefeated and super nice captain I had previously beat gave me a free cue and case

Team did well this week, kept us in first place for the time being in (lost2-3) Eight ball and (won 3-2) Nine ball in an 11 team field...I didn't fair as well, lost both of my matches. Lost 3-3 to a four, dude didn't miss. Lost 5-3 to a fellow 5, left him three hanging nines and a 4-9 combo wired in the match, I should have won that match 5-1 if I would have only made 9 balls at the end of games...disappointing though, lost to two guys that have never beat me. Oh well, always next week.

I'm on a two week break. It's driving me nuts not playing.

On a happy note... I won Top Gun again for the second straight session.

My Thursday 9.ball team finished 1st this session....104 points ahead of 2nd place team. No playoffs for us...go straight to tri cups.

Sunday night double jeapordy playoffs. I faced a 6 in 8 ball and won 4-1. I faced a 4 in 9 ball and lost 31-30 . Terrible game for me. And we failed to qualify for tri cups on both 8 and 9

I hate that pal... I bet you wish you have that 9 ball match over again. Any time I lose like that. I play certain shots over and over again in my head. It's like my brain won't let me forget.

well .. they finally found a place for me (APA) ... we'll see how it goes

With almost 1300 matches over the last 7 years I could give you a chit load of advice. :D

However I will give you must a couple of snippets.

1. Dont sweat the small stuff

2. You get out of it what you put in it.

3. Above all ....just enjoy your time at the table.

New session started this week.

Sunday night double jeapordy. Lost 8 ball hill - hill to another 5 after jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Won 9 bal 46-18 vs a 3. Shouldn't have been that close but I dry broke one rack and he ran 7 balls. Damn shame I had a wide open table and nothing fell.

Monday night double jeapordy. Lost 8 ball the same way I did the night before. . Lost hill-hill after jumping out 3-0 vs another 5. Had another 5 run all over me in 9 ball 38-30 in a 38-46 race.

I finally decided to any d Friday night scotch doubles to make room for the new singles division that is supposed to start this session.

I was asked to join a team in tap which is supposed to start in a few weeks. After mulling ot over I made a deal with the captain . I will play every other week and he gladly said yes. He likes how I play 9 ball lol.

So it looks like my new schedule is gonna be.

Sunday night double jeapordy
Monday night jeapordy every other week.
Tuesday night tap every other week that I dont play on Monday.
Thursday night 9 ball
Sunday afternoon singles
Once a month masters on Sunday afternoon.

Yea I know....I dont have a life outside of pool lol.

Believe it or not....there are quite a few people in my area that play more than I do..

Had a great night in APA Masters last night. It was our last week of the session, and our team is in 8th place so though we have a chance to get drawn as a wild card into the playoffs most likely we were playing for pride. The guy I ended up playing is actually the captain of my VNEA team that I play with in the Fall/Winter. He's a very good shooter, and his strongest game is 8 ball. I ended up beating him 5-0 in 8 ball getting out pretty much every time I got to the table, and won the 1st and 4th games of 9 ball to win the set 7-2. I don't think he was too happy about it as he tends to have a fair sized ego, but he conducted himself like a gentlemen while take the loss. It felt good to play well and beat a good player that I've seen beat plenty of other good players first hand.

The APA 9-ball team that I'm on qualified for whatever. Cities? Vegas?

No clue. I only played twice, so I'm can't play next level playoffs and such.

Thanks lorider - always grateful for advice. I played one season back in 2010 (80% wins) and more or less enjoyed it. Right now I'm really just looking for some games to help me improve. Something to do outside my practice time.

I was away from the game for so long - so many times - but more enthusiastic than I've been in 30 years I think. My shot making isn't as good as it used to be - but my position play is much improved. Like to think my choice making is better too.

Won my 9 ball maych 5-1 after douche-knuckling a nine ball on the first rack, played a strong 5 straight for the win, the team went 4-1 in 9 ball leaving us solidly in first place with three weeks to go (8 match lead). In eight ball we lost 2-3 and I didnt get to play as we have 2 guys that havent met their match requirement to play in titleholders tournament...as long as the team behind us didnt win 4 this week, we oughtta at least be tied for first place in 8 as well

When do you find time to practice? :D
