How beneficial is an aiming system?

Any knowledgeable reader can see his posts are nonsense. Trolls are only validated when people respond to their troll posts. Based upon his posts, I seriously doubt that he can run 3 balls.

I agree that responses is what they live for. But sometimes they make a point that seems plausible and thus needs be busted

#1 the video evidence proves you wrong.

How does it? Even in the videos you linked to, nothing even comes close to this:

And I don't see what there is to be jealous of. Your delusion and arrogance landed you in a matchup with a perceptibly stronger player than you for a fair amount of money. There's nothing there to envy, in my book.

Oh please. That player is lucky I spotted him three games at the beginning.

I lost a little bit of money. Maybe to you it's a lot of money. To me it's more than I ever played for but not a lot of money.

What you see from me is animation. Guess you never saw Alex Higgins playing. He had more moves than a disco star and still played good. One thing I know for sure, you are all words while I am action. I got out there and put my game out there for everyone to see, all the good and all the bad. I am not some keyboard troll who probably can't run three balls. You and your bunkmate Thaiger probably don't even play pool.

Did I mention how much I love YouTube? Makes is SO EASY to bust you.

here is alex playing pool - using a cue he borrowed from his opponent - jumping to the side as he strokes.

Playing Jimmy White:

You guys are so off base thinking that you hold the only possible way to play pool. It doesn't matter if I do a voodoo dance when I shoot IF the balls go where I want them to go. If the cue goes through the cue ball straight then it doesn't matter what happens AFTER contact.

But beyond that AGAIN this discussion is about methods of AIMING not methods of stroking.

If you want to talk about stroking try another part of the forum. This is the AIMING forum. Look up, see the title, AIMING CONVERSATION, not stroking conversation, not stance conversation, not elbow conversation, but AIMING CONVERSATION.

I realize that sometimes it's hard to understand the language you grew up with but you should be able to get the simple concept of AIMING conversation. The OP asked if aiming systems are beneficial and those who are students of them have said yes.

Those who don't have any experience with them, such as you and Thaiger, say no. But then everything you post is debunked. Funny thing is you probably think you are making a difference. We know we are. While you argue with me with your weak statements on here my videos, Stan's videos, Gerry's, Duke's and others are working to introduce more and more people to aiming systems. Those people often go on to work with them and derive the benefit we already know exists.

I can correct my stroking if I REALLY want to. I can play with no sideways movement. But under pressure my worst habits came out. Still I got to six games AFTER virtually spotting my opponent the first three games in a race to nine. CTE was there with me the whole time and was responsible for the aiming that led to some of the best shots. Had I been able to stay calm with a smooth stroke the set would have looked very differently. I am 100% sure of that.

So you can mock me but you can only snipe from the sidelines because I am SURE that neither you nor Thaiger has a better game than me and you certainly don't have the balls to get in the box like I did and slug it out.

I won't be holding my breath waiting for him to make a worthwhile point.

Worthwhile and plausible are two different things.

When he claims that the UK has more top level players and players of Gerry's caliber on every corner then someone might be inclined to believe that nonsense.

He is dependent on the fact that most people haven't been to England and most won't take the time to post the video links busting his idiotic claims.

Thaiger has never made a worthwhile point in any of these discussions.

My views on YouTube just for my videos on Aiming are a little over 300,000.

I haven't added up all the views that Stan and and Gerry and others have. But on almost all mine I have a direct link to Stan's so he gets visitors for that. As well my playlists have thousands of views so that people can see Morht and Gerry and Duke and Landon and others...

So you trolls can troll these conversations as much as you want because you are nothing compared to that. Instead of typing why don't you make your own videos? Yes, it's because you can't and you know that the video responses will trump yours.

Here you go SakuJak and Thaiger, this is what you call the best cueists in the world???

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/45529327

The whole channel is full of bangers who gamble. Kudos to them for stepping up! Shame on you for acting like everyone in the UK are world beaters.

Lots of these players could benefit greatly from aiming systems AND lessons in other aspects of playing pool.

The more I think about this the more I want to buy a couple of these english 8 ball tables and have some of the players here, non-pros, practice up on them and send them over for a couple months of Money Match TV. This looks like pretty easy money to me the way some of these guys play.

Of course I know that there are VERY GOOD runout players in the UK at this game but most of these guys are not them.

DIng Ding, we have a winner.

It probably wont end the arguing but it will have a more positive vibe to it.

I agree with your example...it is easier to attach something to somebody who can represent it and give it believability. While this may help with the sales of the product, there are know guarantee's with ones own results.

On this forum we have a perfect example of this happening.
People keep attaching players who were already establish as a good player to a certain method. Not saying this certain method hasn't helped them but lets be truthful, better players will beat us with any type of method if they wanted to.

I think there are certain growing steps in the early stages of playing that cannot be bypassed.Better players have already establish this. The players that haven't are heading for a big head ache trying to figure things out.

This just might be the understatement, and post of the year in the aiming thread.

Actually it's not.

Because it's not that we keep attaching good players to aiming systems it's that GOOD players testify that they use aiming systems and they are called liars.

Seriously who knew that Shane used an aiming system until he came out and said it?

Gerry Williams says that he improved a lot AFTER learning and mastering CTE and he is effectively called a liar not only by Anthony and others but also by Dr. Dave. These people don't understand that a person who is deliberate about their practice knows enough about their own level to know when they are getting better.

If a person comes on here and says that they practiced drawing their ball all weekend and they can now draw two table lengths no one questions them.

If they say that a pro player gave them a visualization tip and they can now draw their ball two table lengths no one questions them.

If they say they use an aiming system and can now pocket balls better they are called self-delusional.

Think about it.

I don't agree with some of things attached to YOUR system...and I gotta say you do it well. I've not called anyone a liar...so get your shit straight..I don't personally Know Gerry but from what I take from here ..he seems to be a stand up guy .Me not agreeing with things doesn't make him a lair.

You ok...

.this gives much better instant feedback

"Aiming Systems" certainly don't work if the player can't hit the cue ball precisely. It would be the same thing in Golf or Tennis.....it doesn't matter how you "aim" if you can't hit the ball straight!!!

The reason TOI helps players is not because it's an "aiming system" because it's not....it's an overall playing system that tell you IMMEDIATELY that you aren't hitting the cue ball accurately...."center ball" won't give you the immediate feedback because the ball may deflect/veer either way...with TOI it will either go straight or ONE WAY....this gives much better instant feedback and this enables the player to make quicker adjustments with more confidence. 'The TOI Game is the Teacher'

Aiming systems are probably more benifical to better players.

That being said some aiming systems require to much to figure out in a process that should only take a few seconds once learned. Feedback from your routine is Essential ,you need to know why your missing.

If a persons routine puts them in a position where they can't tell if they're undercutting ,on the mark or over cutting the ball from the get go ,they'll have trouble getting better at pocketing balls.

I wonder why you always leave out the part that if you can't reliably hit the cb where you want to, TOI only allows you miss in one direction. The amount of offset from center and the cue used determines how much the cb will deflect. So, if you can't get it to deflect reliably, you are no better off than trying to hit center and missing it. You will still miss hitting where you aimed. You say that you just aim for one side of the pocket, and if you deflect too much you will hit the other side. Well, the same can be said for aiming for the center of the pocket using center ball. So, that kind of mutes your whole point.

I don't see what you don't get. Higgins was a great player in spite of him twitching constantly and moving on the shot. You move on the shot, too, but can't play to save your life. If you can't see the difference there then there really is no helping you.

center's a zone, not a "bullseye"

Pro golfers rarely "aim" at the center of the fairway either....they play zones, and "move" the ball towards the target - just like the greatest pool players approach the pocket.....center's a zone, not a "bullseye". ;) 'The Game is the Teacher'

Center Zone

Interesting Statement that I agree with but.....its a small, small zone and it takes some really good eyes and depth perception abilities in order to perceive it this way right off the bat.

I think people aim the way they do for a long time until they learn to see and understand CIT and realize then that the object ball travels in an arc on its way to the pocket just like the side struck cue ball travels in one to the object ball, then something starts to click that isn't normally explained in aiming systems.

This is not to say that nothing was gained by the use of the aiming system. Its just where you end up starting out and that aiming system can be something already written about, a reference you make up etc.

What ever gets you to this point is getting the job done where you see the feel and adjust your stroke that influences the arc of the object ball regardless of the fact that you might be using Center Ball.

I think you have to find the one game that makes you play this way more and concentrate on that game in order to fully develop your feel. For me that game is Straight Pool, you are trying desperately to manufacture shots which lead to a string and nothing gets me more in tune with feel than that.

When you get there you will surely know it, but explain it, much harder.

When are people going to realize....

When are the followers of CTE and Pro One going to realize that having JB in your corner hurts you. The more he types, the more the system becomes unbelievable.

Oh I get it. He is a double agent, and he is really working for the non CTE ProOne people. If that is the case please post again, in fact, post a hundred times, and play some more matches.

I never liked the comparisons between golf and pool. In golf...the player has no real expectation of his ball going into the hole on the first shot (therefore, they move the ball to a "zone" the first couple of shots).

In pool...the player not only has an expectation of his ball going into the hole on the first shot, but it MUST go into the hole on the first shot, or...game over in most cases (but not so in golf).

Pool is pool and golf is golf.....let's stick to talking about pool and cut out all the analogies with other sports.

IMO, pool is a unique sport...and is deserving of it's own special set of nuances.

You keep saying I can't play. Obviously I can play. I have a skill level I am at like everyone else. We all know I can play so you saying I can't doesn't mean anything.

What we don't know is whether you or thaiger can play. You constantly want to talk about how to play and act as if you hold the only valid method of playing yet no one here knows if you can run three balls?

Maybe me and some mates should make some anonymous troll accounts and start trolling and disrupting the snooker boards. Of course that would upset the beehive.

We would probably get banned because I bet the moderators over their are not as tolerant of trolls as ours are.

I only gave you an example of a player who plays great despite bodily animation. They exist. So save your critique. I have many trophies and victories, where are yours?
