How big is your...

Right now we don't have a real pool room close by, rural area with a small town pop. 25,000.
A new room is supposed to open shortly, all diamonds.

I have regular games and play at two fine places...Slate St. in Rio Rancho and Doc & Eddies in Albuquerque. Last May, Doc's put in 16 new Diamonds with Simonis 860, half 9' and half 7' and also new carpet. Also, they're across the street from a fine gentleman's club. Tables have not been re-leveled since installed on new carpet and nuts and bolts need tightening, some corner pockets have different angles from the long rail and short rail, never hung so many balls in my life, nobody I asked knows about maintenance in the purchase contract. But the absentee owner is going in the right direction! Slate St. has 15 GC-3's with Simonis 860, well kept and regularly maintained...cleaned and covered every night. Both places have pretty decent food, the edge here goes to Slate, but Doc's has some good New Mexican food.

The hardwood floor is so old it has no finish left on it. That makes it non slippery and if you wear pool playing shoes which everyone should its not an issue.

Pool playing shoes? Seriously? Okay I'll bite. Tell me about the pool playing shoes.

In my town we have one actual pool hall that has fallen into some disrepair and doesn't have the business to recover the tables with simonis and doesn't host any tournaments. There is a restaurant that has five 8' and four 9' tables, but they turn the place into a "night club" on the weekends and let the tables get trashed. Seriously, one Monday we showed up for league and there was puke still on a table from Saturday night. There are, however, several small places with three or four tables. My nine ball team plays in a place with five valleys tables and an in house league four nights a week. Friday and Saturdays are tournament night. Good menu and beer on tap. The reason this place exists is for pool players and it's a wonderful place to play. He's been talking about getting diamonds for a few years now, but I'm not holding my breath.

We have four Gold Crown IIIs with seating for about 30. Plenty of space between tables. Nothing in the room but pool tables and related stuff. We probably have 20 regular players when the snow birds are here otherwise there are about ten regular users.

And its all free.

Retirement is great.

BTW our pool room set up is one of the reasons I moved to this active retirement community. Later I found that most of the other communities in our pool league have similar rooms. In fact one of the requirements to join our actively retired league is that the club house must have at least four tables. We have about ten communities in the league. Who said pool is dead -- not in our area.

Save your pennies and move to Florida.

4 years ago Side Pocket Billiards had 2 nine foot and 6 seven foot Diamonds.
3 years ago the room changed owners. At that time they sold 1 seven footer.
2 years ago they sold another seven and they also sold 1 of the nine footers.
1 year ago they sold a seven and the last nine foot. They put in a dance floor.

I'd guess you would call it a sports bar with 3 tables, dance floor and karaoke.

Only Pool Room in 50 miles

41 tables! Well at least it used to be that many at Chris' before Buddy and co. took over. They got rid of some billiard tables and 8' gc's to make room for 8-10 diamond bar boxes.

Felt in Englewood Colorado has 6 newly recovered Diamonds.5 Gold Crowns. 1 snooker table and I think 12 bar tables and one of them is a Diamond. Not really sure about the number of bar tables because I don't pay any attention to them.
A full service bar and a pretty good kitchen. several flat panel TVS.
It's a rather large room that's nicely decorated. And has ample parking for normal crowds.
Heres a link with some nice pictures of the place.

I just read the menu from Felts, my goodness thats prob the nicest menu Ive ever seen at a pool hall. A++

Its not my local, but its the one I play at when I'm not playing at home.

32 12x6 snooker tables, 3 9ft Chinese pool tables, 4 Diamond 9ft tables, 2 K-Steele 9fters and 15 English pool tables. Several dart boards, few pinball machines, a bar and they serve food too.

All those tables and you can guarantee someone will come play on the table next to you when you're the only ones in the pool hall. Typical.

Closest real pool room to me is Stix Billiards in Rancho Cucamonga

1 9ft Diamond
18-19 Gold Crowns .. a couple 4s and rest are 3s I believe
10 bar boxes ..
5-6 E Dart boards

Decent room around most of the tables and a good league setup for the bar tables.

We have one left and I haven't stepped into the place since they moved about 5 years ago. I mostly play 3 cushion but thats a 40 minutes drive and soon to be out of business. When I was in High school we had 7 rooms within 20 miles of each other, that number is now 2, the second being too far any more after we moved, closer to an hour a away now. Sad to see the game sorta fizzle out. What the sport/game needs is another good movie. But kids these days spend their time frackin around on electronics and real world stuff that requires some dedication and patience just doesn't interest them.

We have 2-5 depending how you count it. In Sioux Falls we have the following: (P.S. Shane doesn't own any kind of pool hall or anything here. mostly practices at Lucky's if anywhere.)

Lucky's:
hand full of valleys up stairs. Down stair they have 2-3 Diamond BB, two 9' tables. One diamond, 1 gabrial. They are sort of reserved for people who know the owner, and Shane. I don't believe anyone is allowed on the diamond now, except Shane.

Big's:
4 diamond BB, 6-8 Valley's that get moved around for concerts and stuff. 1 Diamond 9' that may or may not be set up on any given day. Never set up properly...

JJ's:
7 Valley tables, but they make up for the tables, with atmosphere and service.

The Pocket:
6-8 8' Valley's, and two 7' valley's for league play.

The Nickle Spot:
14-18 7' Valley tables

Sport Bowl:
2-3 9' brunswick tables, one 10' brunswick snooker table, two valley 7'ers

This is BB 8-ball country, so that's what most places have. I usually play in my basement on my 9' gold crown. Pool is pretty big here, but only a dozen or so, play big table. Of that handful, maybe 2-5 play really well on a big table. (I'm not included in that 2-5.) You can get action just about anywhere for $50 or less, just gotta ask. It's pretty good little town for pool, but the best tables are kinda scarce anymore...

seriously? You haven't heard? Kamui shoes. they're only $500, but the decrease deflection by 15%, per shoe.
OMG! Only $500? Bargain. How have I not heard of these? I mean, I've been blaming high deflection cues for my misses for years and then I got a nice new Z2 with a Kamui SS on it, and I still missed but not by as much! These new shoes could be what I need to get the ball in the hole. Thanks :)

My Pool room I go to has

3 Gold Crowns, 1 Snooker table, and 20 Valley 7 footers, kitchen, 2 bars, cigar lounge, TV lounge, outside lounge, and serves free popcorn.

Shoes that have a rubber non slip sole-Nike's for example. that way your foot won't slip when you stretch out for a shot.

Best pool shoes I ever had was Wallabee...thick crepe soles.
Man, I was planted.
