I think nicknames in pool are awesome...

I'm curious and would like to hear your story about how you received your nickname!

I don't have a nickname but my grandfather who I love and respect immensely loves to call me Nate "The Stick" which I think is hilarious just because he's so old and old people are just funny and he always let's everyone in the house know as loud as he can Nate "The Stick" is home when I walk through the door with my 2x2 case hung over my shoulder...

Anyway I was also curious if any legendary players had that particular nickname... I wouldn't want to bite anyone's nick name... I know there are some with the same nickname I'm sure as it's not the most original thing...

I had thought about getting it put on a custom case and showing him that he has officially branded me... Would be pretty sweet!

Nickname

My nickname was given to me by the local TAP operator. I began to develop a "shakey" backhand during a playoff match...I'm talkin' beyond palsy, like I could mix your paint just by holding the can. My teammates quickly brought me a shot of whiskey to settle my nerves; didn't help at all, nor did the next one. I even shot a few balls in left-handed.
Funny thing was that the shaking forced me to hyper focus on the shot at hand, so that my final stroke into the cue ball was very smooth.
I broke and ran the last four games to win my match, team won the tourny and went to Vegas.
So I am shakey, but I am also smooth...

Shakeysmooth

We used to have a goalie here in Edmonton called Cujo......

My father in law thought it would be cool to call me Cue-jo......

there it is :)

Damn, I thought you were just rabid...

Sadly, I've got no nicknames that I know about....had a local native guy that used to call me "his white fish" right until I emptied his wallet a few times and now he just calls me by my name.

My last name is Power and this year my team starting calling me "FIRE POWER" not to fond of it but... ohh well, the rest of my team has nicknames also and a couple of them are no to fond of theirs either, the other nicknames are LUCKY LARRY, TURBO, ACTION, HUSTLER, AND PFOH CUS. we even had the nicknames on our shirts in Vegas. So there it is.

When I was the house pro at Belltown Billiards a few of the players and the staff started to call me Jesse James. I was told because of my boyish looks and my competitve drive that took down my opponents. Kinda cheesy i guess but the name just stuck

RunoutJJ was the nickname my team mates (The Jayhawks... Every member's name started with a J) gave me. The first 3 weeks of league play I had one inning matches in all my matches (BCA 8 Ball) so they called me Runout JJ :p

Todd,

You would think I was rabid to call Carlos my friend :D

White fish.....almost sounds like a nickname fromm Lenny D

When I had hair, the nickname was predator. When I shaved my head it was cueball, which became Q after I won about 20 tournaments in a row. Some people call me Charlie Brown now, not sure why. Yes, that's my real hair, my parents were hippies.

Then. we'll shorten it to just 11.
You're new AZ Nick is now "Eleven".

See how easy it is to give a new nick name.

You know your locals well , he stopped after I drilled him the last time at the Q. Come to think of it, he owed me $200 and paid 20 at a time for almost a year.

Ha ha, I think he's doing well now, I see him every so often with Marv at the metro.....

At least he added fish, he still just call's me whitey :)

I've done some crazy, stupid, f*ck*d-up sh*t in my days........

After some death-defying, dumbass, daredevil stunt, one of my buddies came up to me and said "Damn Tony, you're a maniac!!!".

The name stuck.....

Maniac (not near as crazy as I was in my youth )

Everyone around here calls me douchebag. I have still yet to figure out why.

Seriously, Rossaroni is a name my good friend in college called me....

Back in the late 60's I shaved my head when everyone else had long hair. I was playing professional baseball at the time and one of my teamates started calling me Kiwi...because he said...I looked like the bald bird on the Kiwi shoe polish can. I let my hair grow out for the next 35 years and then started shaving it again when I moved to Arizona. So Kiwi it was and Kiwi it is.

Altho not a cool pool name unfortunately, I have two blue Harleys.

A friend of mine got in the habit of calling the new one, Blue Hog.
When we would run into each other, he would always ask, Hows Blue Hog today?

Also, my old trucking company that consisted of one truck and a trailer was registered as Blue Hog Trucking.
