Check the settings by pressing and holding the F button. If not the f button check the mode for memory size, sometimes it says 514 photos or 16000 photos the more photos the smaller the size of the individual pic.

You can buy a simple photo cropping program, most will also organize any down loaded photo's by Last added, day taken, month taken, and the year taken.

My Nikon Coolpix P-80 came with a program down load for my hard drive on my computer, you might want to check Nikons website or trying going to a site called download.com they should have a number of free down loads that will work.

Peace!!:)

Right click your picture; scroll down and "Open with" Paint; click "Image" at the top; click "Stretch/Skew"; reduce Horizontal and Vertical by whatever you need, like 50% or 25% a piece.

Go register @ www.photobucket.com and get a free account. You can then upload pics to your account, no matter the size. From there you can cut and past the link into your posts, and best of all, no limits.

Soooo much easier than dinking around with picture size.

Do you have Microsoft Office? If so, then you already have a program capable of reducing (called "compressing") a pic to 100kb. Microsoft Office Picture Manager is in the MS Office Suite of programs. It' so easy to use, you shouldn't need any direction. Find the pic you want, then click "edit picture".

Down load this photo program. I use it and it is easy to re size photos.

This is by far the best solution offered that I've seen in this thread.

MS Paint has horrible compression. Processing photos through it is a terrible idea. Irfanview is easy and has good documentation to guide you.

Photobucket is OK, but you want to shrink it before you upload to minimize the transfer time. Photobucket also keeps photos in original uploaded dimensions, which aren't always ideal for posting to forums.

Use the Paint program. It's the easiest and you don't have to join anything.

Click START
Click on PROGRAMS.
Click on ACCESSORIES
In the dropdown window, click on PAINT.
Pull up picture in PAINT.
Click STRETCH/SKEW
Change HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL to same numbers. Dependingon how big your photo is, I'd try 15 and 15.
Save it using a NEW NAME to your desktop.

Piece of cake.

Simplest, fastest way to resize jpg images that I am aware of:

Download PhotoResize400.exe from http://www.rw-designer.com/picture-resize

Direct download link http://www.rw-designer.com/NT/5.0/PhotoResize400.exe

Make sure you know where the file is saved on your hard drive (usually desktop or a downloads folder).

Go to the location on your hard drive. Right click the downloaded file and choose Rename. Change the name to PhotoResize700.exe.

Left click the file, a pop up message box should appear - click where it says "Add to context menu" or words to that effect.

You are done with installing your resizer.

Now right click on any jpg image located anywhere and from the menu click on "Resize Picture". In a couple of seconds, a new image will appear in that same folder bearing the same name as the original but will have 700 added to the end of the name.

I think 700 will work for a great many pics so far as getting the file size down to less than 100kb. If not, simply rename PhotoResize700.exe to PhotoResize600.exe and try it again.

Check their webpage for lots of other tweaks that can be made.

Some good advice here, but here is truly the simplest because it requires no downloading of programs whatsoever -- and since you obviously have an internet connection, you are good to go, because that is all you need:

1. go to picnik.com (free & no sign up required)
2. click on "Get Started Now!"
3. click on "Upload a photo"
4. click on "Resize" tab and make the largest dimension say, 640 to 800 wide or tall (that's about the maximum decent viewing size for 100kb) -- leave the default "Keep Proportions" checked
5. click "OK"
6. click the "Save & Share" tab and a simple form opens up, showing your photo and offering options for "file name" (be sure to rename your new small file something different or else you will save over your original large pic!), format (jpg is good), and most important for you, a slider bar to set the file size of your final image. Slide the bar until you are just below the 100kb limit.
7. Now click "Save Photo" (you already re-named it right???)

Done

Just send me the picture, I can host it for you and you won't have to shrink it to 100k. The image can be hosted and shown in full (or close to) resolution.

Example (NOT a 100k, but a lot more):

PM me for my email address, I'll post it for you right away. If it needs reduction, I'll do that for you as well.

this is the winner

Nikon uses the menu button->IMAGE SIZE
There aren't many options, in other words your camera might not have the quick fix you are looking for.
