How do you like to gamble? Do you like to play by the game? Play races?Play ahead sets? I like to play ahead sets myself. I feel when you are playing by the game its easier to pull up. Races have let the weaker player win (short races,5,7, even to 9). I only like playing the others cheap. What do you guys play?

I like races or sets myself. I don't know why I gamble, For that reason I don't know why I lean on people Ither:o Call me Crazy I guess.

Tshirthell.com, Classic Avatar, I like the shirts there aswell and Tons of them.

Sounds like you like to bet, not gamble. Ahead sets are much more likely to have the better player, at least in that timeframe, win. Races unless extremely long are always a bit of a crapshoot, luck usually plays a bigger part. To me the more luck plays a factor, the more it is gambling. Betting on your skill is more making a wager and your past performance gives you a very good idea what the outcome will be most of the time.

Due to health, I bet games or short sets now. Not how I would prefer to play but I have to keep things short and make it plain when someone starts to gamble with me that I may have to pull up at any time.

I gamble because it keeps me from developing bad habits when a game doesn't mean anything. I like to play races to 9 or more. Takes out the chances of a weaker player winning. I suppose the big thing is that if you beat your opponent they cant say "Well I wasn't really trying or playing you tough" If they do then fine but most wont buy that:rolleyes:

All of the above are fine with me. You know I am not very picky.

The choice is made after an evaluation of the opponent. Does he play my speed, a little better or perhaps a little below. What game or type of sets, etc. gives me the best chance of winning on that particular day?

What amount of bet will affect this opponent the most, small or large?

Make the game according to those parameters. Of course, thats if I am serious about it.

Usually its only a matter of how much time I have and scaling the game to fit in that time frame. The amount of bet is usually nominal, and perhaps only to play a better player and test myself.

always by the game, six or nineball. Ten bucks if you win twenty if ya run the rack...play 2 to 5 players and have recently started a " loose a hundred or play a hour rule" After either one of these criteriars(SP?) are met you can get out but not until. We had to many people poping in with twenty bucks trying to get lucky and win the first game or two they were in and then playing on our money for hours but when they lost their ONLY twenty they were gone...That really messes up a good ring game in my opinion...if ya come to play, stay.

Gambling is against my religion

Therefore I steal!!:p :D :p ..Don't tell my pastor

It really depends on the ..er.."player"(or in my case sucker) that you are "playing"(stealing from) ..The weaker the player, the longer the race (better odds of the better player winning) especially in 9ball ..Short races are no good because of the luck factor in 9ball ..A short race is really the only chance a sucker would have against a player ..

And of course the bet ..You've got to set the bet high enough to make it worth your while ..I Think it was Ronnie Allen that said"Raise the bet and watch 'em sweat" ..My problem- is lately after I raise the bet..I'm the one who's sweating!!!!

Danny D. had the best gambling advice I ever heard. He said to always remember the big money to be made is sitting beside the table and watching from the rail. So once he found a player willing to gamble he wanted to know how much that guy had to lose. So let's say the guy had a hundred to gamble with. That isn't enough to make the work worthwhile. So Danny would never play him for more than $20 per game. But he would bet it up big with the guys friends who gathered to watch the match. So while the other guy was only playing for $20, Danny would be playing for $200 a game. And after winning five games Danny would walk out with $1,000 instead of $100.

Play pool on the table but bet with the railbirds.

Lol

I only play sets with races. I don't have the patience for ahead sets, they can be long drawn out affairs. I only play by the game on 9 ball challenge tables.

Usually, Race to 5(or 7) for $50
Race to 7 for $100
Race to 7(or 9) for $200-$300
Race to 11 for $500

Challenge table is usually $5 to $20 a game.

but i beleive you should be,lol.we'll see you out soon.i'm shoppin for another cue.

slow starter

I usually start out with a little nerves.Long sets allow me to settle down and play my best game.Ahead sets give me time to work out the kinks and play my best pool.

A weaker player has a much better chance of winning one game than a set. I usually race to seven for 10 or 20 bucks. Nobody gets hurt, but it still motivates me to play hard and prepares me for tournaments. Otherwise, if nothing's at stake, I tend to just bang the balls around.

I don't play any people that would have a hard time winning a game.

I foyu think you have the best of the game then the ahead set or by the game is what you want to do.
If you think he/she is better then short races are good. Unless he/she wants to give you some weight. In that case either way is good=)

I play

Usually $10/game 1 pocket

Usually $10-20/sets of nine ball.

I have played sets for $200, and $100 ahead sets but those are the exceptions not the rule.

It depends on who I am playing. I know players that like to start out at $5 a game, but you can win $500-$600 from them b/c they like to raise the bet. If its a tougher game, I prefer to play ahead sets...this helps take out some of the lucky games or bad roll games. But, if I really like my end of it, I will play however it takes to get the cheeze!
