How do you go about suing a cue builder? Just want to get my cue back.

Talked to him 10 mins ago, think you'll be happy Duc. He should be reaching out to you within a few days and should have this cleared up very soon(I'm not giving a timeline) lol
Jason, I appreciate your positivity and trying to help out. That's awesome. But, darn...I have to ask - why doesn't he just call Duc immediately to square this away? If a friend called me and said, "Hey, did you forget about so and so in a business deal? Well, it's been years, they are ticked off and ready to drag you into court." I would be up-in-arms with a sense of urgency to reach out and get the situation corrected. I don't get it.

Just a SWAG, i think D would rather say "it's on the way" rather than "i'll get to it right away"

He was finishing something up so he could get to the 2 guys cues I asked him about. I told him I'd post here and he'd reach out probably tomorrow.

All I can post is what we talked about. Sounds like he'll be concentrating on Duc's cue and another. Hope we can work together to get at least some AZ brothers taken care of.

All I can do is try, but I think these guys will be taken care of hopefully this week....we shall see.

I had my cue send in to a cue builder for a pin repairs and it's been almost 3 years now. I have pics and text confirmation of him receiving the cue and also had several conversation over the phone on delivery time line, all this was prior to the covid pandemic. I've been trying to reach the builder for over 1 year now and he hasn't responded to my calls or email. The cue value is under 3K and I'm wondering if it worth it to pursue legal action. I'm thinking of first creating a police report in his state for the stolen item and then take legal action via small claim court. Anyone had any successful experience with trying to get their cue back from the cue builder through legal action? Is it even worth the time and effort?

I'm thinking of also flying down to his shop and just surprised him to pick it up. At this point, I'm sure he hasn't fix the pin issue so all I'm asking for is my cue back and I'll have the pin fix elsewhere. This has been one of the worst experience that I had with any cue builder over the last 25 years plus that I've been around this industry. It's just a shame how one of the best recognized name in our cue world conduct his business this way and I'm sure am not the only one that had this experience.

Thanks,
Duc.
Has a retired Sheriff's Deputy, do not file a police report. Technically it's not a theft. It's a civil matter. File in small claims court of that state. Have the cue maker served, and proceed from there.

it is a theft deputy once he refuses to return the item.
police like to say its a civil matter as they dont want to be invovled.

generally in many departments if you do file a report they have to follow up on it. and that makes the person nervous and usually gets him to return the item after a cop shows up at his door.

i wonder how he would feel, if he has feelings for people, if he took his car in for a repair and the shop kept it for years and wouldnt respond to requests on how to get it back. and then told him thats how he runs his business why should he complain.

i am just so glad we have these threads here so i dont fall into the cuemaker trap that others have done. and research a maker before i give him my cue or a dime.

Has anything happened yet Duc (or Jason)?
We were making progress and it sounded like it was almost complete but haven't heard from him in a while. I'm gonna try all weekend.

I'm on nightshift so it makes it hard for me to contact him at a good hour

Been trying to contact him for the last year myself. He’s had mine since… 2018? If you do get a hold of him, please have him call me too. PM me for details.

Seeing as how jasonlaus has been helping people out of the goodness of his heart, why would you want to make him have to go even more out of his way than necessary by having to contact you to request the info that you could just send him without making him do that extra unnecessary work? Seems like you should send him your info and ask him to pass it on to Dennis if he feels inclined, and thanks anyway if he doesn't.
