Guess you never saw JR Brown play. Always in cowboy boots.

David Gomez as well.

In Memphis a few years back, Scotty called me and friend outside to show us his trunk and the remnants of an alligator he had just wrestled and killed before he came up for the tournament.

How does David Gomez from Colorado rank among bar box champions?

I only saw him play during the early 90's. but he had monster game hard to imagine to many people having the better end of the deal playing him.

Was at a monthly barbox tourn. in Tyler Texas bout 5 or 6 yrs. ago. Met Scotty at the bar while waiting on the auction to finish up. We drank a few beers and I listened some of the most entertaining stuff I've ever heard. I still laugh remembering a few of the stories. I had gone there with a guy who had won it there more then once, he lost to Scotty 7-3 cause he broke dry in a winner break race to 7. It was a blast to listen to the stories and watch him in action.

The most fascinating thing about Scotty !

Is that Scotty probally been in more bars across the United states then all the top 10 United states pro's put together....In fact if there was a way to gauge it i might bet the top 20...I can't tell you how many times..."Being in the oilfield"...that I've had friends in the pool world that worked oilfield call me in utter amazement that say they were say in some lil town..here or there...like South Texas and Scotty's name came up & the locals would say..oh yea...he was here either like a few moths back or a few years back...I mean for real...If the bar had a pool table & it might be known at all that they gamble on pool in it then Scotty probally been in it.

I think alot of the guys here who've seen Scotty in the last 10-15 years don't realize how much of a monster he was 20+ years ago. Henny wouldn't hold his cue back then. I saw Scotty at the US Open around 98 and he was a shell of himself then. He still played great but it wasn't anywhere near his high gear of old.

I remember Reed Pierce coming through West Monroe and Scotty started giving him the last two on a 9' and ended up losing even after three days of play, but Reed won the US Open not too much longer after that. Reed was probably playing the best pool of his career to beat Scotty even and if you don't think Reed could play back then, you're nuts lol...

 Scotty was/is a great story teller and one of the best bar table players in the South. A quick story that Scotty told me about an alligator. So he has had a quite a few Jack Daniels and Cokes and it is late. He is telling stories to a few of us at the bar. He says that he was coming over for the tournament and was crossing Mobile Bay on I-10 late at night when he saw a gator in the road. He slammed on brakes, got out and dove on it. He then threw it in the trunk of his car. He said he stopped and crashed for the night in Mississippi at a hotel. When he woke up the next morning he looked at his knees and elbows. They were all scratched up and his clothes were torn. Then, he remembered the gator in his trunk. He said that he drove down the road and pulled off to the side where he could release it. He goes around to the back of the trunk and is ready to pounce on the gator. He slowly opens the trunk when he sees that the "gator" he wrestled while drunk the night before is actually a large piece of tread from an 18-wheeler tire. I almost fell off of the bar stool when he told that tall tale.

Another one...he told me that he once won a prop bet by walking on water. I asked him how in the hell did he do that? He said he tied large pieces of styrofoam to his cowboy boots and walked right across a canal. LoL!

One more...and I will stop. I saw/heard this one with my own eyes and ears. He has just beaten Marcus Chamat in a tournament match. They were jawing back and forth the whole time. After Scotty beat him he looks over at Marcus and says, "I roasted your ass didn't I you little sweedish meatball you". :D

OMFG...that alligator story is one the funniest things I have ever heard.
CLASSIC!

He actually carried those alligator teeth around for long time in a cigar box & said he had a dentist friend that was gonna fix his grill & put the gator teeth in for him...Scotty's crazy enough that you got to believe he meant it..lol

Roadman called me on the way back from Mobile and told me it took several people to seperate Scotty and some ex-pro boxer. I left at 5:00 on sunday and Scotty was playing him. I don't know what happened, but this guy is nothing but a azz hole. I was playing a 400.00 set, he's playing a set with someone else across from us and walks over and picks a ball off of our table in the middle of a game. He also bumped into me several times while i was shooting. I was told later he was doing it on purpose. Justin said he told Scotty don't make me hurt you Scotty, and if you know Scotty, that was enough.

At the 96,000 Shootout Olathe 2007

Last time I saw Scotty was 2007- He was the only american playing- the Filipinos- a 1,000- 6- ahead set.(And Yes he beat Wee ) Shane didn't play Dennis O. His(Scotty's) stories are the greatest, and the craziest. The best 20 bar players played a couple,3 days- ( with 2 others playing 10,000. sets on 1 day ,and 20,000. sets the second day) I forget the names but 1 guy owned another shooters, the other had sold shares in a casino-The tournament- was a cutthroat game till the end.(chopping block-) I still remember seeing Billy Incardonia - with his punk shorts on, almost to his ankles, something I'll never forget. Steve M, JR Banks, Shane and James were the top 5. Matlock, CJ,Corey, Gabe, Some players sat out because of the format!! There was a 1 pocket event before Jose Parica,Danny Harriman, Gabe and the winner was from ST. Louis forgot his name too. Go get um Scotty. mark

Big Nasty I ask then? was it gabe who sat out? I remember cory complaining about the format- I don't remember so well I guess.- like you said he was out too fast. Maybe what he said was he new there would be trouble, because of the format- (thanks for being so polite about the memory thing. As you would recall I left before the finals- because of the way the finals were played- and I posted my first az post. mark

Stacy is normally merely boring and embarrassing. When he's pilled up, as he apparently was in Mobile last weekend, he is completely insufferable. He apparently has delusions of grandeur, and believes he is Mr. Action. Most everyone stays clear of him, unless they feel like wasting time.

Scotty gives him the 7-8-9, the breaks, and 3 on the wire to either races to 9 or 11 games. Why Scotty plays Stacy, I have no idea, except that they do have a history of matching up, and Scotty usually wins.

Stacy is a poor combination of low intelligence and overblown feelings of self importance. I'm sure he's younger than he looks. He looks 60. He's probably 50-ish. He'd better be a damn good boxer if he ever seriously tangles with Scotty.
