How long would you wait?

So I won a cue on ebay and paid for it through paypal on June 10th. The seller has a 100% feedback but to this day has not shipped the cue and not responded to 3 emails. I now have the contact information but am wondering am I a little impatient? Seller lives in Plano,TX didn't know if there was some kind of mother nature problem there or not.

If I had PayPal-ed payment for a cue and over (2) weeks have passed with no cue and no return e-mails, I'd be rather upset.

Id start getting irritated right about now (14 days) and my ebay feedback starts getting worse everyday that passed without some reply or contact from the seller. I take some sort action at 30 days.

Is he actively selling anything else right now?

If his ebay activity has disappeared he may have a legitimate problem of some sort, if he is actively selling or buying he is giving you the runaround.

How many transactions does he have along with his 100 percent?

I'm curious how many auctions did he have and maintain 100%. At any rate, not returning emails IMO is a definite indication of a problem.

Ha! funny you should mention this so I went and checked them out again and a new positive feedback was given on June 25th and stated great communication, which gives them 43 total. However on the latest feedback the item closed May 26th, so it's either extremely slow or I got hosed. I emailed the recent buyer that left a feedback to see if they are just really slow at shipping. Still there's no excuse to not answer 3 mails just checking about shipping status.

hosed

sounds like you got hosed...i wouldnt wait more than a week before getting impatient, no matter how good the rating is

There are certain items I would never purchase online, and a pool cue is one of them. Some items need to be seen, felt etc. first, at least for me. That being said, I think that even if he has 100% feedback, not responding to 3 emails is unacceptable. Barring some sort of personal emergency, or issue with Mother Nature as you put it, he needs to reply.

I am one of those people who have no patience for people who do not respond to emails or return phone calls in a timely fashion, simply because I deem those actions as common courtesy, therefore some people may find my response harsh, but that's my take on it.

While agreeing that the best methiod of inspecting a cue to purchase is in person, I have had excellent results with cues bought online through eBay. I have had some really excellent cues made by Mottey, Runde, Dishaw, Omen, Cognoscenti, and so on without a hitch. In fact, inverey case of the high end cues, I acquired, I made some handsome $$ selling them after having the opportunty to play with them for months. You can't just find those cue in person and face to face and if you do, you are usually going to PAY dearly for them.

Back to the delayed response.

Do you have a JUNK MAIL filter with your ISP. Sometimes, I miss important mail because my ISP grabs it as junk mail and routes it there and I have to go online to find it.

Could they be on vacation???

Contacting them through the paypal account may or may not be the way to go. Paypal payment email addresses sometimes are not the same as their contact email address.

Are you sure their account wasn't compromised by a hacker?

I would be requesting a refund from Paypal, so at least Paypal contacts them, if they are not responding.

2 weeks is a long time to not hear a reply if they are not on vacation. I have had people leave town in the middle of an auction and had to wait, but they usually notified or posted that would be the case.

I would wait as long as it's reasonable and only if the seller could give you a reasonable explanation as why the item has not arrived.

No explaination, no patience...that's only fair

BTW, good luck..

Two weeks is a long time to wait especially of you paid with paypal. Usually shipping thing to me in Hawaii takes a few extra days, but I have bought 1 Shon cue from ebay which came within 4 days after I paid, and I bought a cue from a cue maker here on AZB which came within a week after my check reached him.

The shipping time concerns me a little, but the lack of communication bothers me a lot. When I sell things on ebay I always stay in constant contact with the buyer until the item reaches them. I hate lack of communications.

With this much time gone by and no communication, I would try to undo the deal right now... I wouldn't wait any longer. Good luck.

I think 16 days is the very early stages of 'too long'. There are tons of things that could be going on.

You should certainly be protecting yourself though, find out your rights as a flea-bay purchaser and as payor (paypal/ credit card/ money order), however you paid.

I think 30 days is well into 'too long'.

I believe

Ebay has procedures where the buyer and seller are to email each other within 48 hours after an auction is over, besides Ebay also notifies each by email about the results of the auction.

Why did you Paypal for the cue without any correspondence with the seller to begin with? I would never do that.

You better check with Paypal and see how long you have to file a dispute just in case it comes to that. I don't know off hand what the time limit is, but you only have a pre-determined amount of time to file a dispute.

I'd be real upset if you paid up front with Paypal and the cue hasn't been shipped in 14 days.

Good luck,
James

This is my procedure on ebay.

If I don't hear or receive a package by 7-10 days, I send an e-mail asking for the tracking information. If that is not available, when it was sent and a fair expectation of when I should receive it.

If I don't receive a reply to my e-mail (within 7 days) of the first, then I write something to the effect that I'm following up to my first e-mail (date), and I have not heard a reply or acknowledgement.

Again, if I don't receive an answer to my 1st and 2nd e-mail, then I send my 3rd e-mail (5-7 days after). I specifically state this is my 3rd and possibly final e-mail, stating that I have not heard a reply or acknowledgement to either my first or second e-mail, and if I do not hear from them, I will be compelled to escalate to both e-bay and paypal authorities.

Keep it clean, simple, and document everything. There is a dispute center in paypal, I simply cut and paste all my prior e-mails and open a case. Regrettably the quality of sellers on ebay has gone down signficantly, and I had to resort to this method several times to get my money back. :-(

If I buy something through ebay, it had better be on it's way within 2 days. 2 weeks is absolutely ridiculous.

E-bay Scammers............

The big problem with e-bay is there are scammers that set up a network of several computers at different locations and set up quite a few e-bay accounts. Then, they send each other positive feedback for bogus merchandise. I had this happen to me one time for a motorcycle I sold. Lucky for me, I held the merchandise until payment was received, which naturally never happened. He had 100% feedback from 36 other 'sellers'. He was from the Orlando Florida area and by some coincidence, all of the feedback came from e-bayers with names relating to the geographical location of Disney World. E-bay can be a great place to get bargains but it is full of thieves also.
