How many AZers have a Fargo Rating

I was just looking at the Fargo Rate players list and I am rated at a 587. Do any other folks on AZ have a rating in the Fargo Rate system? It is pretty interesting to do searches in their database for other players that you know.

Wedge,

I've had three!!! Originally Fargo had me at 660. Then I found my number at the BCAPL site at 618. Just received a note saying my most recent number is 670. Don't think I've played a Fargo system rack in months. Oh well.

Hey Wedge how ya been brother! Aint seen ya around much. Yeah, interesting . Not that this really effects me currently BUT anyone that that's better than me that I might potentially play I already have their game clocked to within a tenth of a ball. Now, if I'm playing someone suckier than me I don't care - so all it could do is kill my action. That's why I don't play tourneys and remain the UNKNOWN MONSTER taught by the Best - New York monster and Arizona monster ( of course that was before he was murdered - RIP ).

Was just discussing this with a friend last night. We were doing searches on people we know. 9 out of 10 seemed pretty much the way we had them rated. That is for people with established numbers.

My rating fluctuates in the 620 range. Last night it was 621 today it says 623.

Yep

From what I saw also the people I searched seemed pretty darn accurate.

I don't. Some of my friends have played on the Eurotour, I guess that's how they got ranked. Our national events do not count, apparently.

627 for me..

I can' figure out which me is me, but they all could be I guess. Besides that, I've only played in one event with Fargo (as far as I know).

WTF is a Fargo-rating and who gives a rats-a^* about a Fargo? Will such a rating help me win ANY more $$$ playing pool? Sounds like some sort of upscale chicken-s^*t league non-sense. Seriously, does ANYBODY give ANY credence to these ratings?

I think the Fargorate is a sign of the game growing up.
Chess rating systems have been used since the '30s....
...the more info, the truer the ratings.

I had a starter rating of 525 for a while. Then it suddenly disappeared and now I don't even show up in a search.

Weird.

I am very curious how many tournaments you need to play, and if they need to be sanctioned by like Apa or whoever, in order to receive a Fargo rating. The thing that I think is silly is that it does not matter what your rating is, if you quit for a few months and get rusty, then your previous Fargo rating should no longer be valid.

Just a thought, but if you were to quit competing for like 6 months for example, would your name still be in the Fargo rate system ? What type of events would you need to be competing in to have a Fargo rating? I think the system is just really silly. Fargo can't see into the future, to determine the odds of one player beating the other. There is too many other aspects to consider , other then your winning % or the way you played in the last year for example.

I think the old rating is still the best estimate of how you play. Maybe you didn't play at all because of work. Maybe you had eye surgery and still can't see straight. Maybe you played no rated tournaments because you were in private money matches or on the road and had been playing 60 hours a week. Maybe you practiced at home for four hours a day.

FargoRate already has a mechanism to discount older results.

I don't have one. I'm not sure I want one. And if I got one, it would be too high.

Freddie <~~~ because it's too cold in Fargo
