How many cues do you need to bring to the pool hall to play for Big bucks?

Counting your break cue, and any others cues you need to play a big match for big money? Thanks.

Cues

Just my playing cue with 1 shaft, and my break/jump cue with 2 shafts.

But next year, I am getting a new playing cue made with 2 shafts, so I would bring both playing cues (my current one being a backup) along with my break/jump cue.

Two weeks ago I was in Buffalo's in Metairie and I brought a player, break and a jump cue. A money match never transpired but I was prepared. I am not a big fan of jumping but when in Rome;). There were a few players matching up and it felt like an action room.

table

bar box 1 cue 2 playing shafts
9ft 2 cues 1 bk cue and one playing cue with 2 shafts.

but i am always showing cues so i carry a 3x5 with 2 cues for sale.

Pretty standard here: My player, a break cue, and a jump cue. If it's straight pool or one hole, just a playing cue is enough.

Guess I need to buy two more cues. . .
14-1, one cue.
8-9-10 ball, one cue and maybe break from the rack? or not

How many did willie use??????????

Fully Armed

In the 70's usually a sweet widowmaker with one shaft in a cheap soft case.
In the early 80's it was the era of the extra shaft, nice hard tube case 1x2.

Late 80's the Break Cue and the Players Cue in a nice 2x4 case.

90's that damn short azz jump cue thing???? or the Break/Jump and your Player's Cue with 2 or 3 shafts in a 3x6-4x8 or a damn dolly to carry all that crap in!!!

Today??? You barely see guys with the same equipment from one month to the next!! WTH!!! lol.

To answer the question,to play for the big bucks,I bring One Cue. I break with it too!!

Just my BK2 with a rubber band around it..... Surely someone will offer me a huge spot if that's what I am playing with...

If it's a tournament I come loaded with the BK2... A leather tipped full cue in case I need to masse around something.. And 2 jump cues... (One dart jumper and One stroke jumper)......

7 or 8 cues. 14 shafts. You could never be too prepared. Also a person to hold towels and chalk for you. :D:D:thumbup::grin:

3 cues

A break cue, a cue I like for 8 or 9 ball then my good player I prefer for 1 pocket and banks.

I take my old beat up looking sp cue.. But that dam shaft is the dead nuts tip is right and that's all i need....

one cue, no breaker, no jumper. Either a custom sneakie or a D series McD of the day. In the local rooms around here the more arrows in your quiver, the worse the Indians aim.

Two cues: jump/break cue and player. 3 shafts. One shaft for break cue, and two for the player that are identical with the same tip. If I need more than that, I'm screwed.

It's like the saying, "I was country before country was cool." Years ago, I stood out because I carried a sneaky with a soft case. Most people in the south didn't own a 2-piece cue back then.

These days I'm being singled out again for carrying the sneaky and soft case. But every banger is decked out like the champion of the world. It cracks me up sometimes. :D

The same number of cues you would use to play for no money. If you're playing for big money, it would be even more wise to have an extra shaft for your shooting cue for insurance. This would be an insurance policy you would want to have just in case your tip gets damaged or comes completely off.

Since I started playing, I have heard that the potential for tip loss is the reason for carrying a second shaft. But in 40+ years of playing, I have never lost a tip during play. I could see having a back-up if the tip is new. But after using a tip a few times, the risks would seem minimal.

I'm with Earl on this one- I think you should only use 1 cue- no break cues or jump cues allowed

I agree. The risk is very low. In the 20 or so years I've been shooting with my own cue, I've lost a tip during competition very few times. Maybe twice. I've had 'em fall off during practice a few times too.
