How Many Have Made Pro from AZB?

I guess I didn't realize when I first started reading AZB that I had to turn pro as a result of it all.

Funny, I thought I might learn a few things that might help my sorry-ass APA game. Which, according to the tone of the OP, isn't worthy of the attempt.

Dammit JohnnyT, why didn't you let me know all this years ago? All this time, enjoyment and learning was a ruse? A trick? Gasp, did someone try to SELL me something?

Sales is the second oldest profession in history. Everywhere you turn, someone is "selling" something, goods or services. If people aren't capable of warding off the evil salespeople, they need a better haven than an internet forum.

What does that say about our sport. It's a mess.

Don

I suppose; but, pool has always been this way more or less and very well always be - AND that's OK! What I mean is having a pro pool tour or whatever else I'm regards to " pros " does not effect my life in the slightest nor prob 99% of those on here either. We all can jump in our car on any given day and go down to pool hall / bar and play pool. Fun, gamble, so!e tournaments thrown I'm and none of that is effected by "pros ". To be honest pro pool did not draw me to this sport whatsoever, it was merely an afterthought Mich as it is today.

If some want to take it to the next level well that's fine too. We have awesome events like DCC, and others although more would be nice. It would be nice maybe to watch pool again on ESPN again but we have streams and you tube now which we didn't before. I think of ESPN were to somehow put on an interesting take on some of these challenge matches maybe it would work but honestly the way they do it now is pretty mong numbingly boring to me.

Who says that pool NEEDS to have a cleaner Image? And why? Pools Image has always been fine and just the way the folks at the pool hall likes it and it doesn't seem to bother the millions of people playing leagues all over the place. Pool should be fun, not PC for the rest of the world that doesn't even know how to hold a stick. I'm not anti pro, of they end up making millions great. Just saying I don't believe that is going to effect our recreation on a day to day basis nor should it.

Love the Game Absolutely

The only requirement in my opinion is to love the game, there are so many benefits for that.

There are not so many benefits for being a Pro.

If there was money in pro pool, like there is in pro golf, you would have seen lots of guys quit their day jobs, put in the work, and go for it.....

That explains all the guys I see quitting their jobs to join the PGA tour.

Tap, tap, tap! Nobody here who provides any kind of learning tools (books, videos, systems, templates, cues, balls or anything else ever claims it is, and I believe the term Johnnyt is stretching for, a "magic bullet". A silver bullet would be for killing a vampire! LMAO There are many solid learning tools available to anyone who makes the choice to want to get better.

Um, come on Scott, A silver bullet kills werewolves. Jeesh, you know if you visited over at the kill a monster forums you would know this. Except, there aren't any professional monster killers over there so you might not. :)

What is it with all this 'knowledge' nonsense? Kids in the uk learned to play on their own, in their bedrooms. No instruction. No books. No dvds. Nothing. Nada.

Only those without talent need your 'knowledge' - and they will be mediocre til the end of time, no matter what they do.

The one and only truth, you folks like it or not.

Lots of AZB pros though...

It's not worth it....period

I've been on here about 11 years. You would think with all the silver bullets sold on here, the 100's of APA members, and the same 20 know it alls on here, that you would see a few graduate to pro level from here in 10 years. I wonder why this is. Johnnyt

It's simple, there's nothing at the end of the rainbow in our sport YET.

Be like sending your kid to college to become an architect, and then ship him off to an island in the middle of the pacific to live it out.

Can't think of one top pro (amateurs yes) in the US that's grooming their kids to become the next ''Tyler''.

So stupid.

There are tons of forums where people discuss pro baseball, pro basketball, and pro football. How many of those guys became pro at those sports by having an account on an internet message board?

None you jackass.

You complain about the state of pool but then expect anyone who wants to offer their opinion to not say anything because they aren't shooting .900 on accustats.

STFU and GTFO. Thanks

This is way too harsh of a response.

Clearly, Johnnyt's op was a tongue-in-check commentary on the goings-on here at az which, btw, do not even remotely parallel basketball, baseball and football forums.

The folks at those forums are not looking to raise the level of their personal games, like many here are.

Apples/aardvarks, imo. :)

Golf would have been a better example.

Why would anyone want to be a pro in this sport?

I learn very little here, best threads were the "how would you shoot this" that Jude used to do. Those you could learn from.

Brian, while you may be correct here, Johnnyt has a history of a bunch of whining/complaining threads that he creates so sometimes its like flipping a coin on if he is serious or not. He also continues to go into other peoples' threads bashing them. Gene is a prime example...you know someone who pretty much dedicates their life to trying to teach pool to others. Even if he disagrees with what Gene teaches, this is the type of person Johhnyt is...below is just one example of multiple including multiple posts in Genes main thread.

Thanks Kickin. As long as they don't bring my family into it I'm OK with it. Johnnyt

...a better question

Perhaps a more relevant question might have been: who on AZB has made discernible improvements in their game since joining? ...and how much of their improvement can they directly credit to the advice, products, or knowledge accumulated from this forum?

Dedicates their life (For a hefty fee) is too funny. Can he take it off his taxes? Does he even pay taxes on everything or anything? Johnnyt

All instructors charge for their services. He also is more than willing to talk on the phone to try to help. I would know as I did it a few years ago at no charge while trying something on the table. Your reply just adds to my argument and is absolutely pathetic. It's all good though. Keep tearing the man down while you just post your whining and worthless threads on here. I hope I don't become a big douche when I hit your age and actually enjoy life.
