How many pool halls do your town or city have, how good are they?

Meaning how many pool halls are left in your town or city? re they nice places to go to? Left meaning not closed yet! I am not talking about bars with a couple of bar boxes either! Unless that is all you have in your town or city! Thanks.

There is 2 pool halls in San Francisco CA. Both are on the same level. The tables are decent.. Both halls have like 18 tables. 5 of them are tight pocket 4" and the rest are 5".

We had one nice hall here in Kennewick, WA. Had one billiard table, one snooker table four nines and three eights. Had darts and ping pong and a nice coffee shop. It was located in a strip mall near the only mall in town, right next to Chuck E Cheese. Once they got their liquor license, the landlord conveniently raised the rent. There never was more than four or five decent players in there at any given time that I was there. That being said, they had to close their doors. Luckily, they also had a warehouse where they did table repairs. So they put the tables in there and reopened. It has a better feel now, more like a pool hall in my opinion. Main drawbacks are that they only have two vending machines and a port-a-potty. The last time I was there, I brought my wife and my three and four year old girls. We were the only ones there at six on Saturday night. It's really sad to see what's happening especially since the owners are such great people. Does anyone have any suggestions for anything I could do to drum up some business. My work basically prevents me from playing regularly, but I've heard there is a league here and a tourney at the casino every week, so there must be some bar box shooters. I moved here from Phoenix and spent some time "unemployed" there playing a few tournaments. I just don't think the players or the interest are here. I don't have a table at home so if they go completely, I'm out of luck. I'll have to save up for a table. My girls love to play and my three year old has a great pendulum ;)

we have 3 left as far as i know. had 1 close the 1st of the year and i heard they have 1 on beale st but i am not sure if it is still there.

we have sharpshooters about 10 minutes from me but i only play there when my travel league visits that place. nice tables but i hate the loud jukebox and it has very limited parking.

then there is the rack. its about 30 minutes from my house and again i only play there in league. all diamond tables is what i like about it.

now my favorite pool hall, highpockets. it also is about 10 minutes from my house. about 12 gold crowns if i am not mistaken and 7 valley barboxes.

oh yeah ther is also a place called the rec about 40 minutes from my house just across the stateline in mississippi. i have never been there but have heard it is a good place. 1 other place down there that calls itself a pool hall . crappy tables, balls that have never been cleaned and the loudest damn jukebox i have ever come across.

Hello Lorider,
Did you play at the pool hall on Beale street before? It used to be OK! I have not been there as of late. Thanks for your input. Teach the girls how to shoot good! Take care.

I'm in Boston metro area just a couple miles outside of the city and I end up going 30 minutes north to Peabody and go to World Class billiards to find a decent table. The pool scene is Boston doesn't seem too happening in my short time living here so far...

World Class in Peabody is nice though. Has three heated billiards tables and 13 (maybe 15) 9 footers. Four of those are Diamond's and the rest are Gold Crown's all in nice playing shape. I enjoy playing there and the prices are good too.

There are 7 that I can think of in the greater Sacramento area. Hard Times is the nicest, but I love the nostalgia of Jointed Cue. A few of the others are nice as well, and of course, a couple that are "not so nice"

The only pros around the bar box tables of the seedy bars in my town are the meth whores.

I drive 40 miles once a week to play in a real pool hall...

Diamond Billiards
Chattanooga Billiard Club (Downtown)
Chattanooga Billiard Club East
Double Hill Billiards (Smoke Free and doing great business)
Charlies

Many more places with 2 plus tables. I think pool is strong for a city the size of Chattanooga.

Only have 1 in our city. On the shady side of town. It doubles as a bar. If you like playing pool for money and people coming up to you while you are in stroke asking for a couple of bucks for a beer or a cigarette you would love it here! Have to drive over an hour to greener pastures with Diamonds and Simonis, but better than no pool hall at all.

We have a lot northern Pinellas/Pasco County (outside of tampa) has a least 6-7 nice pool halls, southern Pinellas might have 5 more but I don't make it down that way to play.

Not much here.

I live in a city of almost 200,000, if you include college students. There are three pool rooms here, but none have what I would call "tournament ready" condition tables. The problem here, as in many places I've visited in the past six decades, is that room owners simply don't care much about pool and don't promote the game. They choose to compete rather than cooperate with other owners to schedule events. In some towns I've lived in, owners actually cooperate with each other and all benefit!

Nearest room is 75 miles away. Had rooms up until 20 years ago. Now costs are too high.

Droveto, beautiful Akita. I had one for many years. Now my daughter has a Sheba Inu. Not sure who is smarter, the sheba or my daughter. Oh well, I love 'em both.

In IL the nearest town, pop 25,000, has no pool halls only bars with barboxes.
Condition is far from great. Nearest real room is about 50 miles, some of our
better local players have passed up playing in our local 9 ball league to play there, cant blame them.

In AZ it's a bit different since we don't have a room per se but Rec centers with
tables. We have 3 different locations all with 9' tables and 1 10' snooker table,
again not in the greatest condition but better than nothing. The nearest real room is in
Tucson about 25 miles away.

I'm not sure how many in Denver, maybe a hand full.
But now that "Felt" has been remodeled and has the diamond tables it's the place to be.

In Lansing, Mi- one.

Pockets Pool Hall

Anyone interested in buying a pool hall should contact Steve he owns it. Can't remember his last name. I think he still is looking to sell.

1-snooker table

2-billiard tables, one Verhoeven heated.

9-valley 7ft

approx. 14-brunswick 9ft

This pool hall is a diamond in the ruff, really. It's slow in the summer, this is Michigan. But when the fall/winter leagues start up business goes right along.

It has potential, I know cause Steve had it sold about two years ago. The guy that bought it had business pouring in like I had never seen. In house leagues, 4-5 tournaments a week at least, including a calcutta that was bringing people in from around the state. He refelted all the sevens and was working on tightening the pockets on about 5-7 nines. Put in a few poker machines. Going great, and then as I understood it, started hanging out with one of the local pool players and went astray. The guy he was hanging around is a known addict. He must have bought it land contract, cause the hall went back to Steve. What a shame, we had something really cool going on.

I went from having about one good one in Jacksonville but an hours drive from me to 9 in a nine mile radius in Port Saint Lucie.
