How Many Pool Halls in the US?

I was curious how many there are? I am not talking about a bar with a single table, I would say 2 or more tables minimum to be called a pool hall. Anyone have a number? I would guess around 5000 in the US but I could be way off since plenty of bars have 2 or more tables.

The last compiled database of Pool Rooms that I saw showed 3152 but that changes as they close and new ones open.

I've been a list broker for over 20 years and it was always considered a reliable and accurate list.

There are also clubs and bars that have pool tables that aren't counted in that list.

I wonder if you can go to maps.google.com and search for "pool halls in Ohio" or something like that? You're gonna get some wrong results obviously, and a bunch of bars, but it might at least get a ballpark figure.

Yep, food for thought !

I would say 2 tables in a bar is a pool area.
Imo a pool hall is a place with the majority of the floor space be used for pool tables.
So a 1 room business is a pool hall with only 1 table taking up more than 50% of the area.

Could be hard to get a number on this unless you figure something like a minimum of tables, be it 5,6,7 or 8.

 Thanx for the thought food.

If two or more tables in bars count, then I can say with no uncertainty that there are hundreds in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area alone.

I'm gonna guess that 5000 would be high. That's saying that there are 100 pool halls per state on average.

But if you include every bar that has 2 or more tables than yes I would say that is very likely.
