How many Pros over six foot?

Jose Parica and Santos Sambajon combined would 6-foot tall.
Archer, Souquet and Alcano are 6-footers I believe.

Buddy Hall is either 6 foot or damn close to it. Mike Massey is a giant, probably around 6'5 or so. Archer is also close. I've had photos taken with all of them and I'm 6'1 so I'm going by that.

Souquet isn't 6-feet, he is around 5'9" or less, I saw him at an IPT event.

Mike Davis is tall, as is Shawn Putnam. Liljohn is pretty tall as well, though I haven't seen him in recent times. Gabe Owen is another cutie-pie tall man.

Daryl Peach is pretty tall, and I'd venture to guess he's over 6 feet tall.

I think Jimmy Wetch is over the 6 feet. Tony Chohan probably is right up there as well. Jeremy Jones is probably over the 6-foot height. Maybe his brother will pipe in on this thread and let us know. ;)

Because Johnny Archer is so lean, he doesn't appear as tall as he really is on TV. Veterans Buddy Hall, Mike Massey, and David Bollman are very tall as well.

Niels Feijen is well over the 6-foot mark, and recent studies show Danish men lead the world in tallness. :o

Dennis Hatch is definitely a big boy. Keith is 5'10". Picture taken at 2006 Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour $25,000-added event at Turning Stone! :)

Easier for the 5 footers to aim.

There is some truth to that! :)

A few years ago, I was at a Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour event in Syracuse, New York. Salt City Billiards, I think was the name of the joint. I will never forget they had homemade Tortellini soup. Oh, my was it good. :D

Anyway, there were a lot of first-class champs in attedance. The finals ended up being Jim Rempe versus Karen Corr. Corr defeated Rempe the weekend before in the finals, and so this was a little revenge match between the two of them, a friendly revenge but a revenge altogether. ;)

To this day, no male player I know likes getting beat by a female pro. In fact, most don't even like to compete against them, but that is the topic for another thread. :grin-square:

So during a break, I'm wolfing down some of this homemade Italian Tortellini soup, and much to my delight, Jim Rempe sits down at my table with me. I have heard many stories about Rempe, and in fact, in the '70s, Rempe's name was in all the headlines of the pool media. He was 'da man, as they say. He traveled the world in an era when pool wasn't quite so mainstream elsewhere, and he even won a brand-new car playing pool. Those were the days, as they say! Rempe was on top of his game when pool was cool here in the States. Heck, pool was even on TV quite often, the Wide World of Sports as one example, with the great Howard Cosell. :)

Rempe told me he suffered from lower back pain, which is one reason he does not compete as often anymore. He said that when he was hitting 'em in his prime that the Gold Crowns and other pool tables were 2 inches higher than they are today, and when the table manufacturing companies tried to increase their profit margin, they decided to lower the height of pool tables by 2 inches, so they could fit one more table in the truck for deliveries. Rempe said when that happened, his back troubles began. He was dead serious, and I believe him.

Oh, meanwhile, back at the tournament, Jim Rempe got his revenge and beat Karen Corr! My boyfriend came in fourth place. He was happy to have a little extra jingle in his pockets, and I was elated to have experienced the ambrosial Italian cuisine of Salt City Billiards. All's well that ends well! :wink2:

At any rate, this is just a little urban legend about a tall player that I thought I would add to the thread. :nanner:

Here's Jim Rempe in his prime, picture courtesy of Joss Cues website.

I am 5'10" - and when I stand next to Ralf - I am definitely taller than he is.

:scratchhead:

He's probably 5'8" or 5' 9"(at the most) - nowhere close to 6 feet tall.

Stevie Moore, Adam Wheeler, Mike Davis, are all very tall.

Debbie Schjodt is about 6'4".

If Tommy Kennedy was on Jose Parica's shoulders in a chicken fight, he would still be shorter than Bob Ogburn.

:lmao:

Just curious as to see how many pros are six foot or taller.
A whole bunch? And a whole bunch are shorter than six foot also. In fact, there's a good reason to believe that the average height of a professional male pool player is the same as the average height of any male of that particular country/region.

I am only a little over 5' 6"... Nick Varner is my hero.

Were both over six feet if we stand on a milk crate.

Keith is definitely 5'10" as that is what the doctor measured him as at his physical last September. He weighs 175 pounds. His blood pressure is under control due to a healthy lifestyle. He has a stomach problem, though, but it's treated with Nexium.

When standing next to him, he is about 4 inches taller than me, as long as I am not wearing heels!

I am definitely 5'6", and Keith is not wearing heels in this picture! :grin-square:

Damn... I forgot about you - I thought Adam was about 6'6 or 6'7 - Not that it matters, but it feels as if both of you are like a foot taller than me anyway - so IMO you're about 6'10. lol

How tall is Bob Ogburn?

Big Bob Ogburn
Mike Massey
Buddy Hall
Bobby Williams
Jeff Carter

I will find that pi of Parica and myself when he played in the Pepsi Open in '86. I think he came up to my belt buckle :nanner:
