My record on a bar box was to break and run 6 in a row. My opponent plugged in $3 and never got to shoot. He said, "Gee, I'm really not shooting that bad!" :D Then he left and challenged another table, so I quit. That was 8 ball on an 8 footer.

He sounds like a "glass is half full" kind of person, but half full of what?;)

I was actually thinking 9 ball but if you can put more racks together in 8 ball than 9 ball I'll definately count it. Its been debated which is the harder run but as far as putting racks together 8 ball is harder IMO. It may be easier to run an 8 ball rack more times out of 1000 games BUT to put them in order is another thing entirely considering the more difficult layouts that get thrown in there at random. For instance if you ran 10 racks of 9 ball out of 100 and 12 racks of 8 ball out of 100 I would think the 9 ball would still have a better chance of having a 3 pack in there before the 8 ball 3 pack. Either way congrats! 6 is very impressive.

Racks

I was in a 3 way cutthroat game of 9 ball for $50 a man a game. Why, I don't know, since I had not shot for 5 months, but I had gone through a divorce, and was trying to submerge my emotions, I suppose.

I got $1,500 down, finally got a decent shot and ran out. I then won 11 racks in a row without missing, 7 runs and 4 breaks, which did a lot towards getting me back to even, which I finally did. But, we played for 31 hours straight, and I was feeling the strain on my eyes since I wore hard contact lenses at the time, and going over 24 hours continuous wear with them was dangerous.

And it all happened at the once famous Burke's Steakhouse. I was playing with a local friend of mine, that was and still is a Professional Gambler, and a guy from Ohio that shot real good.

BUrkes Steakhouse was one hell of a place. Lot's of action years ago.

That is a nice comebadk in a ring game.

I've run 9, on 4 different occasions. That was several years ago.

never counted

Seems funny in this day when everyone rates themselves by how many racks they can run but when I shot bar boxes a lot I never attempted stringing racks together, or not more than a very few times. Even then I wasn't trying to string racks and keep score, I was just letting the ponies run.

Usually the game was eightball not nine and playing eight or nine I checked the table for dead lock safeties and places to duck at the same time I sorted for the runout if I couldn't find or make a safety. It wasn't uncommon for me to nudge a couple of balls together on the rail and then duck behind them a few shots later. The odds of somebody suspecting that was the plan as soon as I looked at the table after the break was slim and none. I never bet big but I made a lot of money on bar boxes in a year's time and I did it by never being flashy.

me myself

i've put seven together breaking and running in practice.3 in action.but throwin them up and running them of there's no tellin.

run

i personnely have put together probably 5-6. we were in memphis last year at the memphis classic , my buddy lost the flip and never came to the table. guy ran the set out. a friend of mine has run 10's and 11' s many times. could have been more but that was the set for a thousand. other guy had heart though, got right up and fliped it again. got some gamble .

5 Racks of nine ball however it was a 8' table at Polston's Pool Room in Jamestown KY. The place had a rackman I think it was a .25 a game racked. I have not seen a rackman anywhere for a long time.

I have ran 2 or 3 racks quite a few times on a bar box. Never more than 2 on a 9' table

My main game back when I played was more like ShootingArt's up above. 8 ball not high dollar just staying in action all the time. Got me through collage then I stopped playing for quite a while. I am starting to get it going again now so watch out :)

A close friend of mine, who is going to remain unnamed unless he says it's OK to reveal his identity, ran 18 racks in a row in a team eight ball tournament on an 8' bar box and a short time later broke and ran 4 racks of Chicago (15 ball rotation) in a ring game with Steve Mizerak and a few other great players on a triple shimmed Diamond 9 footer, after which they all unscrewed and went home.

I think I have run the very unimpressive three racks of 8ball and another occasion 4 racks of nine ball. Dont get to play much on the bar boxes, about the only time I do, its when I'm with the wife out at some social thing and its with a wallabuska and not alot of competition. In those situations, if you even run a few racks, people start grousing and talking crap like..."Well that was ALOT of fun!". Last time I played competitively on the small tables it was with the heavy rock in 1989, and even then it was a $2 entry fee tournament. Heavy action

My high run on an 8-foot barbox (there are very few 7 footers on St. Thomas) is seven racks, but I don't really count it since it was full of combinations and billiards on the nine. My highest "legitimate" run on an eight-footer is six racks.

Edit: I've really got to improve the control on my break!
