How Many Racks?

What is the record for racks of 9-ball B&R on a 7 foot bar box. Johnnyt

The most I ever saw was Jimmy Reid run eleven. We were running around together back then. But I'm sure there have been more by someone else. I bet Keith has run more than that somewhere along the line. He was the bar box Godzilla of the West Coast. Matlock has to have run a big number too.

OK, thanks Jay. I'm a little behind...I better start practicing more. Johnnyt

Heh, slow down Johnny, c players don't run consecutive racks;) Or did you say you were a b player?

This is a dangerous question to ask just three days after a three year hiatus. :D

Eleven ?

What is this eleven you speak of? All these years I thought four was king.

i won the lag and broke and ran out the set on a guy in tap league. i was a 5 so it was a 6 something race. it was a new area and my first match or two. needless to say i went up. never played tap 9 before only apa. now none

Keither !!!!!

I talked to Keith a few months ago & he told me the last time he had a session earlier this year sometime. He ran two 11's & a 7...pretty darn sporty considering he never plays anymore & has switched his attention to poker..Hell I'd love just to have a 7 in my book..could never imagine that many in 1 session...I heard Scotty Townsend years back ran 2 sets of 9 back to back giving country calvin the 7..So 18 in a row is mighty impressive as well....Heard Paul Turner has twenty something once.

THe most I saw sun was 14 by Danny Medina years and years ago. I think he was playing Mario, but can't remember for sure.

I heard that Grady ran like 17 or 18 on the bar box one time.

I also heard of Matlock in a $5 ring game in Ponca City Ok, ran 22.

One thing I could promise though, nobody on this big planet would ever run 22 on me.

I don't have any verified numbers, but I would imagine that Buddy has put up some huge ones in his day.

It's break and runs...how could you stop them, hit them over the head with the cue? Johnnyt

If it was a race to 23 and a guy broke and ran 22 consecutive games on me I would atleast strongly consider doing that :D

Works for me!

That would work for me! I think Ironman meant he would pull up before that kind of a shelling though. I had the eight made in the call pocket three times in a row the first time I played a guy. I wasn't planning to see that but one more time when we were playing by the game.

Consecutive racks

I asked David Matlock in person what his record was, and he told me he had run 28 consecutive racks. Never heard of anyone running more than that.
I believe it because David Matlock in his prime was really something.

I was the only person allowed to watch a 7 ahead match between David and Jr. Brown when David came to Wichita the first time and was young. Jr. Brown, who is quite a player himself, got 1 shot the whole set, and missed it, and David finished off the set for $700. This took place at the once famous
Mr. Lucky's in Wichita.

My own personal record, I ran 11 one time, and I have run 8 and 9 a few times, several 5 packs.

I wouldn't sit there and watch anybody run 22 in a row. Call me chicke shite or wahtever, I'm moving down the road.

I had heard about this one too. Never verified it though.

Ain't like Jr, was chopped liver. At one time I thought Jr was one of the ral up and comers in this country. But,,,,,,,,the white line fever got many of them.

I only got hustled once in my life for big money and that was playing 3 cushion. If I saw I was on the wrong end of a game I'd pull up faster than a glue factory special at the horse track. Johnnyt

LMAO.

I was on accasions not so smart. I went off a few times. When I got my nose open and mad at myself, I would go off like rocket. More than once.

A few months ago I gave up too much weight playing 1-pocket and lost 14 games in a row playing for $50 a game. I was hot as a pistol at myself for that one. The bad thing is Ilost to a guy that there is no way I can ever get it back.

I lost $1300 in 1961 and a pretty good cue to a past New England 3 cushion champion...but he didn't get my car. Johnnyt
