How much CASH do you carry normally when you go play

I ask this question as last weekend I am at a tournament, and a guy says he quitting pool, and selling most of his cues.

He has a high dollar cue in my mind, he is asking $1,400.00 for.

Several look at it, and I wishing I had the cash on me to make him an offer.

Finally one of the lockers pulls out a wad of hundreds, and the TAD cue changes hands for the $1,400.00. Would bet the wad was close to $5,000.00.

Seem like a lot of cash to carry on ones person?

I carry $0.00 when I go to the pool room. Keeps me from losing more
<$0.00 at anytime. Now the poolhalls are wise to me and installed an ATM! I used to carry somewhere in the area of a 1K with me when I used to go on golf weekends at the old navy base. Retired and
drunk 0-5s and up as well as any enlisted personal retired higher than the rank E-7 and above love to bet it up. Man those were great times. Golf from dawn to dusk and poker all night, then repeat for the next two days.

Some people brag about how much cash they carry in their pockets.
I knew off few instances where some of those bargadocio s got robbed in the parking lots.Smart people do not anounce to the world about their wealth .

I'd like to recycle the phrase commonly used for gun use... "If you're not going to use it don't pull it out". Don't carry more than you can afford having someone rob off of you.

I used to carry ~$1k in cash. I had my ATM card limit approved for $1000 a day.

I got married (and like most married guys), I'm lucky to have a couple tens or twenties in my pocket at any given time.

I am in the married with kids boat and generally I plan on having enough for the tourney/misc/food/drink and 3 barrells for gambling either myself/backing/calcutta's. My individual barrells never get higher than $50 though.

Maybe someday my barrells will increase if the gas prices ever come down or wages in our area increase.

What's a ten? What's a twenty? LOL I haven't seen those since I got married.

Yeah, I never carry more than about $100 on me at any time, and 90% of the time it's less than $30. With the number of places/people that don't accept credit/debit cards decreasing, and the number of ATMs to be easily found from wherever you happen to find yourself increasing, there's just not any reason for me to want to have more cash than that on me. All it accomplishes is burning a hole in my pocket.

as smart people do not anounce to the world about their wealth, or how much money they carry.

Usually not more than $200, but usually at least $60 for ring games and what not. Whenever I go play pool, I figure I'll be gambling at some point in the night... :/

I don't like to say I have, or carry $X....but if the game is right I will have enough to gamble with. I just NEVER carry it where the average person would like in a wallet, or front pocket. I also NEVER get myself into a situation where I would feel threatened for whats in my pocket.

Actually, it's not unusual for me to say to opponents prior to starting a set, "Listen, if I end up losing, I will have to go to an ATM. Is that okay with you?"

I understand this is not exactly the mark of a true gambler but it keeps my checking account intact.

Were you at the Mixed Scotch Doubles tourney at Metro? My friend Bernie was telling me about this cue sale. She helped facilitate it. :)
