How old is your playing cue????

I have a Joss cue that I just can't seem to get rid of.I have had this cue for about ten years and seem to always bring it out when I want to play at my best.I have ten cues right now that i bring out to play with, but I seem to go back to my joss,I guess I am so use to it that I just won't take the time to change to a newer or nicer cue.I do still have fun getting new cues and will forever thats just part of the life of pool player.Well at least that is what I keep telling my self every time I buy a new cue.

I had an old Joss est for about 15 years till some sone stole her from me.I thought I would have that one for ever but some one had to have it more than me.

I played with a Meucci orgl that I've had since 1989. I gave it to my 21 year old son about 6 months ago. Now I play with a Keith Josey,Joss and a Hurricane.

i used my little al for a little more than a year, and a mcdermott for maybe a half year before that. right now for the last few months ive been using a scruggs sneaky that i got a good deal on until my gilbert comes in. ive also been using my gilbert break jump for more than a year now. so the longest ive stuck with a cue is about 1 year.

I still have an original Brunswick I was given as a gift in late 80's but I stopped shooting with it in the mid 90's once I realized what I had.

Then picked up an older Joss and haven't put it down since. So I guess 11 years on that cue. Won't get rid of this cue.

My Mottey SP I was given to me in 96 and still hit with it so 10 years.

My It's George cue, It's George jump cue and Joss SP don't come out of their cases unless I need a smile on my face. :)

My oldest cue, which I still use as my breaking cue, is a British carom cue built in 1974. However, my playing cue, custom built in Italy, is less than a year old.

1977

Kersenbrock made mine in 1977 w/ two shafts, and I have accumilated 4 extra shafts over the years. I also have another Kersenbrock which I trade off depending on which game I am playing. Also, 2 SW's purchased back in 89 and 90.

how old is my playing cue

i have had my sr6 schon since about 1991 or 1992. absolutely wore the wrap too slick to grip comfortably, had to get a new wrap on it. hits, great, more feeling! Merry Christmas to you all!

My Phillippi for around a year,i dont own cues for long,i think in the past 3 years i have had about 5 or 6,this and my Kucharski were the best.:)

Klein cue I shoot with regularly is only about 3-4 months old.

Jimmy Sickles just made me a true no finish, no collar, Dufferin conversion hustling sneaky pete that's inbound. Can't wait :D

Started out with an j&j cue for about 6 months and then i bought a mcdermott (second hand) and used the j&j as a breackcue. Bought a handmade cue from a friend and never played with it. After 2 year i gave the 2 cues to a dealer in exchange for a predator 3k4 and bought alex lely breakcue in 2004.
I play with the 3k4 for about 3 years now!

Current playing cue: 4 point Searing since September 30, 1997.
Longest: Gus Szamboti 1981 thru 1996 and still shoot with one of my Szamboti's every now and then.(Monday night was last time).

I have had my Wes Hunter since 1996. Which is kept in my Jay Flowers case that I've had since 1992 :D . Mrs. Jhendri2 has a McDermott since 1991 and her case is a Swift from 2004 (she still has the Porper from 1992).

I used to be a cue dealer, buying, selling, trading all the time while I was stationed in Germany. Since then I've only bought cues. I did recently give one away to a guy who was on here looking for a cue for his friend who was partialy blinded by a gsw, but I don't count that as getting rid of it, merely passing it on.

FWIW,

Jim

About 1 day old for my new Scruggs :) I got it yesterday. I have had a Schon STL 9 for 18 months or so before the Scruggs. I will not be getting rid of the Schon because it plays beautifully also.

Hiya Guys and Gals,

Since I spend most of my time in the "Wanted/For Sale" thread, I see a TON of cues changing hands....some of which rotate through forum members faster than you can blink!

Figured I'd come over to the "calmer" side and post a question:

How long have you had your current playing cue?

followup question would be:

What is the longest amount of time you've gone using the same playing cue?

I would expect there would be a great range of answers here...so I guess I'm just trying to get a feel for what the "average" timeframe is.

Post away, folks......

1985 joss. The cue was Earl Stricklands but i purchased it through a friend that bought it from him back then. It hits great!!

Have two old Joss cues, one ivory jointed that I bought around 1968, and another made around 1970 that I got around seven years ago. These were made while Stroud and Jaynes were still together. The ivory jointed cue has a 3/8-10 thread, Bill Stroud told me they only used this thread for their first few cues, as it was the same joint thread as McDermott used.

I used a Joss West from 1978 until it was stolen in 1990. Best cue I ever owned.
Went through a few cues from 90 to 92.
Then, I used the same Schon since I bought from a collector in 92 until 05.
About two years ago, I let my partner borrow my Schon and he lent me his Schuler.

How long have you had your current playing cue?[/B]

Going on six years

What is the longest amount of time you've gone using the same playing cue?

6 years with the above cue, but getting the itch for another playing cue.

Had my Nova for six years and played with it for all six. Have owned at least three other cues since then including: a Marlboro special (complete with a Cue Vault case), a Kaiser copy, and a five piece breakdown cue from the seventies. I'm still aspiring to eventually own the entire Jarvis collection (Mosaic, Dots, and Squares), but of course, I'd never consider playing with those because I'd be really nervous about dinging it up...
