How tall is SVB?

He seems kind of tall to me watching on TV, never seen him in person.

A long reach would seem to be an advantage, but over time when you have to crouch down to get a good look at things, the spine won't like that? Being tall.... is it an advantage/disadvantage/push?

That is the great thing about this game, people of all shapes and sizes can have success.

From seeing him in person, I'd say 5'11" or 6"0"'. He's got a long frame and might appear taller on TV.

IMO, it's a push. I'm 6'1" with a very long "wingspan". There are shots across/up table where the extra length is appreciated. Then when the cueball is in the middle of and ON the short rail and the object ball I'm shooting at is way up table sitting on the long rail, I wish I were about 6 inches shorter and with shorter arms. IMO, I think shorter people have an advantage in breaking (hard breaking) because their center-of-gravity is lower which allows them to be more upright in their break stance which transfers more energy down the table to the cueball. Many of the worlds best breakers (by reputation) are not tall people.

I'm tall 6-3. For playing pool, I wish I was shorter. My stance has always been awkward. I look at short people playing, and they just seem much more comfortable and natural at the table. In my opinion, the extra reach afforded by being tall, is not as beneficial as the extra comfort of being short.

That all said for pool, we are all the way we are. I like being tall, the air is nice up here:)

I'm 5'10". I saw Shane at the expo I think he's the same height as me or a little taller, maybe 5'11". I think it was either Allen Hopkins or Willie Mosconi who said that 5'10" is the perfect height for a pool player.

Correction

Gotta correct my earlier guess.

After looking at pics from Jay's
crib I would guess SVB at 6'1" or
6"2".

I would think it would be better to be tall for the reach. I'm 5'9" and wish I was taller, especially when playing on a 9 footer

I'm 5'7", the "perfect height" for a pool player!
I think Shane is probably six feet tall, give or take a fraction.

I stood next to him in the elevator and I'm 5'11".....He seemed about 6' 1" or 6'2" while looking up at him....I saw him next to Archer and Johnny was only about 1" taller than him....He is easily 6'1"....

Shane is 6' 0". It came from his own lips, or should I say fingers while typing :).

Im not overly tall @ 6'1" but I'd say its an advantage. I get to a lot more shots comfortably than some, can reach out farther for a jump etc. Additional reach can only be a good thing IMO.

Bending over is bending over, anyone can have back trouble but I'd don't see how there can be any advantage to being a short pool player.
