How to speed up USPS delivery?

I ordered two items from US and one that I ordered a day before the second one is already shipped from US towards me, but the second one is still in starting "Pre-Shipment" - "Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item" status, for 5 days now, in a US post office in Van Nuys, CA 91401.

I've been trying to find out why hasn't been anything done with it for 5 days, but no luck, I got an answer on their (USPS) FB page that they can't do anything about it, I can only call that post office, but I can't since I'm from Europe, and their website is also set up just for questions about local US deliveries, no international ones.

Does anyone know any email in the USPS that I can send my questions about this item and its status and if the shipping can be speeded up, since its been sent as a Priority Mail I thought it would be faster than this?

Thank you in advance, I really want this item as soon as possible.

P.S. This USPS post office in Van Nuys has some bad comments about being late with shipping.

???

Yes, I wouldn't think a fakebook page would be too helpful. You'll need to call.

I recently had a similar experience with two books I mailed via USPS Media Mail. I personally dropped them off at the post office and they never left there. I checked tracking information several times over a period of weeks and there was no record of them even being received, only that a mailing label had been printed. I had printed, paid for and affixed the label to the package using the USPS online service, like I've done hundreds of time before, if not thousands.

I had to wait one month before making a claim (automatically insured for up to $50) and that's been a few weeks back that I made the claim. So far no response from USPS. My package got lost somewhere at the post office and that's the name of that tune. Very doubtful I'll ever receive any compensation either. I have no further recourse either at this point in time. $40 down the drain. I sent my customer two new books via Priority Mail. That worked!

Here at our Post Office, we have a basketball hoop on the back wall. The trick is to stand beyond the letter sorter and toss any package through the hoop. Fragile packages are an extra 3 points. A long package from a cue maker has to be thrown so it rotates end over end before it goes against the backboard. We have a bin we call "Cobweb." It holds older packages that haven't gone out yet. One guy consistent with scores, can actually kick a box into the air and lots of them will arch near the ceiling before gravity determines point or no point. No more than 10 tries with the same box.

It happened to me a few weeks ago receiving a carbon fiber shaft from Mezz sent from NJ. The tracking updates did not change for three or four days that the shipment appeared to just be sitting or misplaced in a UPS or USPS warehouse in New Jersey. Then all of a sudden the shipment arrived, maybe just one day later than it should have. I wouldn’t give up hope yet - just try to be patient.

Round packages

The post office is indeed saying they never received the package. The shipper no doubt says they did. Puts you in an awkward position since you don't know who is being dishonest or maybe simply mistaken.

One thing I tell people shipping cues or shafts, never put them in a round tube! Round tubes roll. They roll out of trucks unnoticed, they roll off of conveyor belts into hard to reach or inaccessible spots, sometimes where they can't be seen. Sometimes things in round tubes get destroyed when they roll under a vehicle or into the machinery at a post office.

If it is a production cue stay after the seller. All you can do if it is a custom cue too but things are less certain. If this can't be resolved in a reasonable time it may be necessary to stop payment if you can. How did you buy it? From e-bay, a big supplier, an individual?

Good Luck!

Yes, Cue shippers are going away from round tubes. UPS and FedEx both automatically add a surcharge to my account Whenever an item is shipped in a round tube, for the very reasons you described.

I bought it on ebay from a Pawn store, but its still just 5 days from when it shipped (friday) so I'm not still that worried, but I'm getting there.

Most of the time the price for service from post office is great, consider speed of delievery. Some times the mail moves slow.

Considering the voliule of mail they move most of the time with few problems. There do a better then good job.

Hopefully this is what is going on. I have had this occur several times when using eBay. Don't panic yet, but there is nothing wrong with doing your due diligence.

LOL, I've had this happen a couple of times --- one time it was the seller who delayed taking it to the P.O. but was good enough to admit it and it sorted itself out, the other time, and it was a California situation, the seller had actually taken it and for whatever reason the tracking never updated and the package showed up (but it was hard to be patient).

Internationally, I had the same thing happen in December with a package from the UK and I think it was a good three weeks before it showed up - got stuck in Chicago for no apparent reason and then eventually got delivered.

Patience for now may be the only course I'm afraid.

Call them and give them hell. Yell and cuss and threaten and maybe even cry.

That should change reality.

Seriously, there's some big shit going on in the world right now, in case you haven't noticed. If you think delivery service isn't impacted, you are wrong.

Often when you get a USPS tracking response that makes it look like a package is not moving through their system- it actually is moving through their system but for many possible reasons the tracking number is not getting entered into their system throughout the route. MOST of the time- one day the package is "out for delivery" and gets delivered. If you are able to set up a personal USPS account name and password you can make an inquiry as to a specific package if you have a tracking number- but that does not usually get meaningful updates either. Patience normally is the best answer from my experience of sending and receiving many parcels.

It is possible to get a mailing receipt from the PO when you drop the packages off but you have to wait in line and not just leave them in the "Put Prepaid Packages Here" stack.
