Hustlers Week 2: Episodes 3 & 4 Thread

Finally all caught up.
I like it overall. Big Head is a great addition.
I hate the redhead ***** and her boyfriend! (I guess they meant for that)
As long as they keep it fresh it might last. *Too much talk about "The List"

Please for the love of God come play her!!! Come down here and play....in fact I hope the show goes to a season two and she can play you then on camera..with the spot you are so generously giving her. She will embarrass you....I heard you fold like origami when people are watching you....letss see how you do when it an entire ****ing country is.
WTF are you talking about? I play in front of all kinds of people. From DCC to right down the street. It makes no difference to me.

Your girl isn't running those games out on the show. You can't deny it because the hack editor has shots with balls moving all over the table, scratches that don't count and balls made out of order.....because your girl can't make a ball in the ocean.

You act like the 7 out is a big spot for me to give her. Buddy I know 6 other guys locally who can do the same. I'm not bragging at all, I give that and more to lots of people.

You guys have been playing make believe so long you actually believe yourselves. She's a decent B plus that is all. Get over it.

Emily isn't a world beater, but I've seen her go hill hill at turning stone against solid players, where she had break and runs on diamond tables in major tournament conditions. So you can't say she is a D player.

I've said before editing is everything. Yes she scratched, but the next three turns at the table could have been kicks out of safes or anything. Maybe Amy got ball in hand and used out to play safe? The editors need to keep the flow of the match so they cut right to her running out which could've been ten minutes later. So that ten minutes not being showed makes it all fake?

She's B plus. Not a top female player....sorry.

She scratches and all balls on table are as she left them. Then she's finishing the rack....nonsense. stop drinking the coolaid.

Also the show is super highlighting the spot/handicap aspect of pool. When Amy gets the crazy spot of Emily having to bank four balls before making the 8, I'm sure a light went off on any viewer who was nervous to step into a match with a more experienced player.

The spot had never been a topic of discussion on televised pool before because it's always been professionals playing professionals. This opens up the game to not just a whole new set of potential players, but an even bigger new set of potential viewers.

I also like for what seems like the 1st time ever someone is embracing gambling instead of downplaying it like its pools ugly wart.

This game has never had $ in it so we gamble. I've listened to many blame that as the reason there are no sponsors in pool for what seems like forever now. My position to those who pose that argument is if there were $ in it we wouldn't have to gamble, probably still would, but wouldn't have to.

I believe if people could wager on pool as they do on snooker it would attract the audience pool would need to have a major tour with prize $ such as snooker does. It would give Joe public a chance to pseudo bond with a player that they bet on, to follow that person, identify with them. If it could be legislated so the powers that be could tax it & thereby make it legal I believe pool could be bigger than life. Everyone says it's boring to watch, until you're betting on it, then it's real interesting. At any rate I agree with you kid, I like them working in the handicapping aspect, well I like the gambling too, sorry not sorry

I just rewatched the scene a few times. When Emily scratched, the nine is two diamonds up the rail, and the fifteen is a hanger. Then when she is about to sink the 8, the nine is by the third diamond, and the fifteen ball is a diamond away from the pocket. This indicates there was a few more attempts at the table by Amy after that scratch and she wasn't really good at making anything.

And what outcome would've made for better drama? The wildcard Amy actually winning in her first attempt at matching up? Or Emily winning? The pressure was all on Emily and she performed superb and I'm quite sure the director would've soaked it up if she lost to Amy after the back and forth that they had earlier in the episode.

No Kool-aid here. Just the facts.

The match between Gary and Justin was filmed at VIP, out on Long Island.

As previously mentioned, Scotty went to practice at his home room at Castle Billiards in NJ. This is the room that hosted the SVB/Shaw epic earlier in the year.

Thanks for the info!

The best reason to support this show is because if it is successful it can open doors for others. Remember when there was just one show about cars and bikes and then it took off? Now there are a bunch of car type shows on the tube that are fun to watch!

Brian don't feed the trolls. There's a reason none of us will post here about the show. We read it, laugh at it, then move on. Don't let this nonsense get you down, they just aren't worth it. These forum peeps do whatever they can to push people away once they start doing something positive

Do they pay you? Are you a cheerleader or do you actually play this game?

She doesn't run out as they filmed episode 1 with the 2 unable to pass the 9. It's indisputable.

You think if you say something enough times it's true. The girl can't play and wants to be a pro so she is...okay. If some Bplus male player went around saying he's pro you would think he's crazy but for her sure lets give her a pass. You embrace mediocrity and it becomes the norm. She hasn't won a single event or come in top 3 but she makes a living off pool. She couldn't run out of a burning building.

And why is this so important to you? If some B player guy wanted to call himself a pro or an airplane pilot I don't give a shit. We have people on here that claim to know the answer to anything pool that can barely run 3 balls.

I don't know where they intend to get the freshness. After the first half hour of the first episode I had heard all the playground woofing I need to hear for a lifetime - but that seems to be the whole premise of all four episodes so far.

It's the only "story arc" they have so far... and it's too trivial and meaningless.

I don't mean to be pointlessly mean, but I don't think this show will survive long without some more substance - then what will the cheerleaders-no-matter-what have to cheer about?

That is nothing more than an opinion. What would you like to see?
It's called " The Hustlers" not "physics as it relates to pool" . The show is fun and I'd expect nothing else out of you other than a knock. Shit gets old

You don't need many viewers to survive on cable on a Friday night when veiwership is not much better than 3 am on a Tuesday ,,they certainly won't be giving Duck Dynasty a run for the money anytime soon or ever for that matter ,,It's sad but it perfectly projects pool for what it is ,,a game that in order to survive as a pro
you have to hit the pool halls to find a game give up a spot or be good looking enough
to get yourself on a TV show when your barley a A player if that
Less than that and the only way your making money is if you have a stake horse to back you,, funny how there not bringing up the fact that if you win your luckey if you get 50 %
I can't imagin how people believe this can be good for pool in fact any parent who has a Rod Steward kid trying to steal his daddy's cue and making a living off playing pool should be DVR ing these episodes to show why you need to stay in school and put your allowance money in the bank,

Will this be available on DVD or pay-to-view for non-US or non-cable subscribed people at some stage? In OZ but have VPN.
