I agree with Darren

Seriously, how do you know that I, or someone that I know, was not a victim of this credit card situation ? Does it THEN make it my business, Glen ? If it DOES have something to do with my life ?

Pretty broad brush you're painting with...

Then...IF Eric had something to do with your life and you didn't care for his actions...you take it up with the American Justice System and file a complaint about your grievances and ask for legal action. You DON'T how ever treat AZBilliards like it's a public forum which gives you the RIGHT to DEMAND an explanation into someone else's life or business conduct, merely for your entertainment, and the entertainment of others like you....just because you WANT to talk shit about someone...whom you know nothing about when it comes to the person himself!

Did he made good on it and helped out grandmas that he ripped off?
One of many reasons US is in trouble are businessmen like him.
Anyone could google his name. If he didn’t say anything about who he is then he wouldn’t have any stories to tell………..

......and one more thing if he didn't start calling AZ'ers names we probably would not be having this discussion..........

I don't remember our government asking the people if they could take their hard earned money by way of taxes to bailout the airline industry, the banking system, or the automakers, yet it happened, didn't it? Who's going to pay back the American tax payers?

I have resisted getting into this, but something about this line of thinking struck me.

This message board is full of folks who glorify "the hustle". Misleading someone about your playing ability in order to take their money while gambling. The term "robbing them" is applied, favorably. Taking advantage of them by misleading them. Taking advantage of the marks lack of self control.

<snip>

Ironic how many folks here on AZB come out and act all horrified about folks being taken advantage of, yet continue to glorify "the hustle".

A post I made on November 07 of this year on the teaching kids to gamble/hustle thread.

Celtic said:
Gambling is not the same thing as hustling. There should never be a gambling/hustling in a question. Gambling is a wager between two informed parties on the outcome of a event where the odds are not hidden. Hustling is the act of purposely hiding the odds of an outcome in an attempt to do little more then steal from a person who is unaware of the reality of the situation.

They are two entirely different things. If you are "teaching" your kid how to gamble it can actually make them more aware of things so that they don't get taken later in life. I used to go to the dog races with my folks when I was a kid, we bet, we usually lost, I learned alot about the gambling industry so that by the time I was an adult and going to Vegas I did not get duped into believing the movies and instead knew the real deal on gambling.

Teaching a kid how to hustle? Now you are teaching them how to in effect steal from people. You might as well be taking your kid along with you while you sell siding to a old person with alzheimers for 500% more then it's retail value because they don't know any better. NOW what you are doing is simply teaching your kid how to be a thief, same thing with pool hustling where you hide your speed and take money from people who in reality have no chance to win. That is NOT gambling.

So I know the irony you were trying to convey and expose, but I am pretty consistent in my thoughts on stuff like this.

This thread may very well be the most biased, POS thread ever....

JMO, but Erics judgment on the topic is clouded by his friendship with Johnny Archer. He's standing by his boys opinion, which is insanely biased due to his being represented by CW/Dragon Promotions.

And Fatboy's $'s? What he did to get his $'s? Who gives a sh!t.... He's "Stuck on stupid" for mentioning it and everyone that brings up his past is "Stuck on stupid". There are a couple of posters here that can buy and sell Fatboy. The thing I respect the most about them is they never mention their $, never talk down to people, and most here just think they're one of the guys. Eric, learn that, F the Fatboy "brand", and simply come here and be Eric "Some guy that likes pool".

And Glenn..... Glenn is biased because he is boys with Fatboy. Glenn, are you the greatest mechanic on Earth? No. Mark Gregory is.... Quality of work is pretty equal. But Mark leaves his ego at the table and when he comes here he doesn't talk down his nose to people. Take some lessons from Mark in treating people right and having some class.... It will do your image and legacy wonders!

Throughout history and to this very day..., governments, regimes, politicians, etc have been reaming people. What Eric did to make his money is small potatoes compared to what the Madolf's of this world are doing.

Like I said, I don't agree with it, but this is a POOL forum, not a personal crusade forum.

I also said that I don't agree with some of his threads and what he says, so in essence, I agree with you!

Looks to me like the bailouts were done to do 2 things:
1. Preserve some jobs and 2. Save the ass of some rich people
Hard to tell if the bailouts should have happened or not.
The consequences of doing nothing would have been bad.

We are all tired of paying taxes so others can skate.
Rich are avoiding taxation while the middleclass carries the load.
Banks are charging the poor fees for everything, while people with money don't have to pay.
Job's are being sucked away to Asia.
Moral decay, lack of community and family values.
A generation of people making excuses for their actions and general lack of sense of responsibility.

Average Joe is getting it from both ends.
Still, throughout the history average Joe has always been screwed.
Average Joe has had it better after WWII than ever before.

All in all despite it all, western democratic systems offer relative freedom and a chance for a good life.
We could be living under some regime without any civil rights, where human life really means nothing and people have no options.

I think most of us have options and we can make choices that better our lives and those around us.

but I wouldn't want people posting up my dirty laundry here, would you?? We all make mistakes in life and let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Noone would have said a peep if he had not come onto this thread and ripped on the entire AZB community for being a bunch of poor bums with no future because we are all so lacking in the will to succeed compared to him. He opened the door for how he actually made the money when he posted that idiotic garbage. Before this thread I had no idea how Fatboy got rich, I have myself spent time off of AZBilliards and missed any discussion of that which might have existed.

Fatboy himself threw a pretty hefty stone to kick this whole turn in the thread off.

Do you believe the American public should have been informed about the corperate bailouts? Or would those have been better handled as closed door deals and the money given over to auto companies and banks without the American public being aware it took place?

LEts not forget one small detail regarding the bailouts and accusations...

Most(all?) of the "bailed out" companies paid back the loans fully, with interest. The interest, along with the paid back funds, go back to the US Treasury.

THE TAXPAYERS MADE A PROFIT.

Eric >

These Forums are patronised by many intelligent, knowledeable and friendly people but also a lot of closed minds.

Be honest - what have the USA brought to the World pool scene in the last 10-12 years?
On the playing side One World 9 Ball Champion.

World Class TV action - I'm still waiting.

The best tours are in Europe (Eurotour, GB9BT).
The best Challenge Matches are in the Philippines.
The best support for televised pool is in Asia.

The USA - Poker, Pool nd Pain - give Me A Break

i hate to bring my small, closed american mind into the fray - but the pi has the "best" challange matches? so the ones we get from TAR suck then, correct? and the US still does have at least 2 of the best tounaments in the world - the us open 9 ball and the dcc. and if all of the events from around the world are so great how come we read so many stories that these events suffer a lot of the same problems that go on here? such as pay outs not happening or being wrong, seeding issues and so on and so forth. i don't mind you being pro your country but i get a fire under my ass when the america bashing starts over anything.
the whole world hates us, but as soon as someone's ass needs bailing out the US always seems to get a call. it just gets old.

Yes.. I agree with you... he stepped on his nut sack!!

Just wondering if you've ever gambled for money playing pool and won? Did you claim your winnings as "Taxable income" if you did....you nit! Who gives a shit about what Eric did to make his money...he didn't put a gun to ANYONES head and say..."GIVE ME YOUR MONEY"! People spend money stupidly everyday, at least he DIDN'T take a "BAILOUT" from the government like the banks and automakers did!!!! Get over it, life is what YOU make of it, not what it makes of YOU!

Glen

he robbed people. it's wrong. i've worked in a boiler room that did similliar things. it's wrong. when i was young and stupid all i cared about was the money. it was wrong. what he did was wrong. he lied to people and took thier money. it was wrong. he admits (on here) he was wrong.
are you seeing the pattern here....it was wrong. he didn't use a gun, he used lies. he told people he was going to give them one thing and then gave them another. he stole thier money.
and if you think stealing from people on fatboy's level is better than the stealing the banks did with the bailouts you're the nit.

Ya.. can someone please explain to me why we give TRILLIONS to other coutries when we could use that money here at home? And we give to countries that bend us over and over and over.........

Do you understand how he views you?
Yet you still stick up for him.

Say the Credit Card situation was not quite what it is being said, which we know is not the case, but say it is. How about that wonderful sub prime deal, oh wait, I know you and Glen's answer "If you're stupid enough to spend money on something you can't afford then you deserve to be taken"

Lots of really good people got caught up in the housing market, but that's their faults right, not the guy making a living.

Oh and what about the various deals he's done on here with people the most recent one which comes to mind is the Stick.

Many people do illegal and/or shady crap in business everyday. I personally don't think this is the place to air anyones personal history. Eric has never hidden the fact how he made his money. He has owned up to it and has admitted it. He could have very easily hid behind the keyboard and no one would have ever known about it. Besides that, he has done many good things for pool. I do not agree with some of the crap he posts up here and how he handles himself sometimes, but who am I to say. Call me a nut hugger if you must, but I wouldn't want people posting up my dirty laundry here, would you?? We all make mistakes in life and let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Entertainment? That's what you think this is about.

You truly have no comprehension. Read his first post on what people are on here BEFORE anything was posted about him personally.

let him fly off his handle, again. This will be I think the 6th time he's outta here in his words

Even being from Canada, that kind of treatment burns my butt.
In the event of earth quakes, tsunamis, Canada does what it can based on
the amount of money available. Not much on the grand scheme of things but we do what we can.

The USA on the other hand seem to always be there with the greatest amount of money and they seem to be there first.

I remember when one small country got hit with a tsunami not long ago. Cargo ships and aircraft carriers arrived on the scene in short order with millions upon millions of dollars in supplies and aide. The US military were there helping as well as rebuilding the tsunami torn area.

The people of said country actually complained of the military presence there. They said it made them feel uncomfortable. They were of different ethnic religion too, lets not forget.
Well, just how FKing uncomfortable would you be if they hadn't shown up with all the free aid?

Real grateful people they were. I would have packed up and went home.
Remember that the next time your country gets hit with a tidal wave.
Maybe the world doesn't like the USA to be the World Police but they sure don't mind
when they are the World Humanitarians.
Keep the money at home where its most needed right now. FTW, as they say.

Sorry, back to regular programming.

We pay them to like us...which they don't. Probably 10% of all the aid we give out goes to the people it was intended for. The rest goes to crooks in high places on the giving side and the getting side. Almost everything is a con now. Anytime there is fine print in an ad...RUN. Johnnyt

People take shots at the US and hate it for many reasons.
I always say best thing you can do is go to war with US and then lose, life will be better very fast.
The truth is if it wasn't for the US, democratic countries would fall long time ego due to either nazis, communists or islam.
We all can do what we want because of the sacrifices of US soldiers.

So Daz feels Charlie is the best man for the job. That could be perceived as a slap in the face to the venerable Nick Varner, no? Does Daz now want what is in the best interests of the US team? A Euro now wants to critique the US fans opinions on the leader of the US Mosconi Cup team? I say the US team be led by a US man, not a guy who plays for Korea when it suits his monetary interests.

Sorry but Nick and some of the other hall of famers are to old to do a good job of captaining a team. They also lack the business experience that Charlie has. This is about winning and not a popularity contest.

I find that hard to believe Sharkey. Can you explain how business experience
trumps the wisdom of the table that comes from age and experience.
I think Nick and a few others also are pretty good businessmen to have lasted this long.
