I am disappointed...

My Case

I purchased a high end cue that came in with more problems than anyone would believe. I sent the cue to Rick Phillippi to be repaired and refinished. I also took him a cue that had a warped shaft from birth. I never asked "How Much". Rick put a Ivory joint on it, Ivorine butt cap, removed 5 blemishes from the ebony above the Ivory points, put on a boars hide wrap, refinished the cue, and made a new shaft for the birth defect cue. When I picked it up, he wanted $450. I gave him $500.
I also know Scott is one of the best in the business. I am not a part of any posse. I know and like Shorty. I just think now and then he has a short, no pun intended, fuse. Take care little guy, it ain't no big deal. Next time send it to Rick like I suggested before.

I never had dealings with Proficent ," hear nothing but good stuff" Shorty or with D.M. but Shorty on this you are dead wrong. You should of contacted them before posting on a public forum.

I meant, he should have been given a chance to respond to Shorty, in private.

That is pretty much, my point, exactly.

Tracy

I wouldnt respond I would just give him his $25 bucks back and pray that he would quit whinning about $25 bucks. I did cue repair put a tip on for a guy and that was my mistake he was such a pain in the ass. Of course I he never told me that he was unhappy with a perfectly good tip he just told everyone else he came into contact with I heard about from another guy and then confronted the guy that was complaining. I gave him his $10 bucks (lepro tip) back and put a moori on for him and he still complained that the outter rim wasnt dark brown enough on the moori. I handed him some leather and told him to do it himself!!! I know of one person that actually tried to screw people over with tips and repairs. (if you wanted a moori he would put a lower class layer tip on it and hope you wouldnt notice or cut the thing in half). All other cue repairmen I believe try thier best to satisfy all of thier customers and sometimes you are just not going to satisfy them no matter what you do. You could probably send them a new cue and they would still ***** that it wasnt the correct weight or something!!!

I bought an early Palmer that was in pretty bad shape and sent it to Matt at Proficient. It came back 10 days later and it was like new. I let my friend hit with the cue and he said "wow, this is beautiful", I told him about Proficient and said it cost $75 bucks.

I'll never forget his words "you can sure thank your lucky stars you found those guys".

He's right. I really hope they keep doing what they are doing. I am lucky.

"Insert Pot-stirring emoticon here"

Shorty- I have never had any words with you, but I think what you have posted is lame.
To bring this up in a public forum is petty, immature, and plainly unfair towards Proficient, who I might had has an excellent reputation on this board and in the industry.

Any decent & mature businessman keeps matters like this private.
Nevermind all the other comments in this thread.... Ask yourself, what was your objective here....do you think this action was justifiable?

You know the answer deep down.

Shorty was right and I was wrong for not calling to verify the extra work that needed to be done. I was busy and did not take the time to call him to ok the work before it was perfomed. I did call Shorty and appologize and we are alright now.

shorty! zack is right about this! if you havent already you need to telephone scot and tell him your concerns and how you would like it resolved and see how he responds before posting again.

but zack surely you do not agree with work being done and charged for without prior approval?

True, I forgot to address that point. I certainly agree that extra work shouldn't be done without approval. That being said, I think that if it's something reasonably insignificant cost wise and a neccessity then a lot of repair people would go ahead and do it without asking, ie auto mechanics, and other repairmen.

Now that this is resolved, it may be in the best interest of both parties to delete this thread.

Why delete it? It shows that people can actually resolve their issues. Shorty - you did the right thing. Way to go!

This is one of the few times I wouldn't have much of a problem with the thread being deleted....reason being is this... Most will read the 1st post.... VERY, VERY few will make it to the 5th or 6th page to see where it was resolved.... Proficient still loses...

Shorty can Edit the 1st post, which I think should be done. He should wipe out all that was said & simply state that problems were resolved... or he can post the quote from proficient, or it can be deleted... I believe something in some shape or form should be done so as not to bring anymore harm to proficients name. JMHO ;)

In other words Scott gave him his money back, that's all the cheap F$%#&^ wanted in the first place. I've never seen anyone handle so many things wrong. Well, there was runscott... I guess when you deal with rookies you expect these things.

You heartless bastard you!!!! LOL

I've been following from the start and I just knew this is how it would turn out. I know Scott and worse then that I know Shorty now and I could see it coming from a mile away. It's just not the way to go about doing things and it's sad.

Jim

Scot did not refund me the money at my insistance. He offered to make the cue correct if I would send it back, I declined as well. I am keeping it as a backup to my existing Schon. I edited the first post as well Timberly.

Thank you all,
Shorty

Scot, if I send you a cue to refinish and rewrap and you find something else wrong with it that you could fix for $25, just do it. Please!!!! Don't waste any money on a phone call. Your reputation speaks for itself.

even it being edited by someone, it still appears when quoted by another or so it shows up on mine, so even a jester of good faith is shown by someone to edit it is actually in vain, it would appear that a deletion would be the only way to really rid the presents of the thread and any indication it ever exsisted. maybe im wrong usually am.but sometimes i get lucky and get it right.

Perhaps it would be wise to Post Reply rather than reply. Then it won't be repeated. Just a suggestion ccn7.
