I am such a lightweight!!!

I went to play a little pool for the first time in a while last night. Was hitting em pretty bad for the first 30-45 minutes (as expected). Then I order a Crown and Diet Coke. Fifteen minutes later I am free wheeling balls in and getting out. The hot waitress comes over and asks me if I want another drink, of course I say yes. I am still playing well and getting out occasionally. I down the second drink and feel unbeatable. :D
About 20 minutes later I find myself losing concentration and only running 3-4 balls at a time. This is when I realize that I am a lightweight and it is really sad that two drinks can effect my play so much. What has happened to me over the last 10 years to make 2 measly shots of Crown kill my game. Kind of embarrassing in a way, but then again I guess it just shows how much having a couple of kids and working 50+ hours a week will kill your pool game and your alcohol tolerance.

I guess I am just a lightweight

it only shows that you are not used to regular drinking. i don't think that's a bad thing at all :D

I guess you are right. Being a lightweight ain't so bad ;)

One or two beers improves my game a bit (relaxes me without affecting my motor control)- anymore after that and it's all downhill.:D

That's the result of using a depressant drug. It is designed to depress/slow down brain activity. Would you expect to play better if you took a valium or would you expect to begin to relax more than you should and have your mind drift a little. One is a depressant drug in a pill form and we call it drugs and the other is a depressant drug in liquid form that most of us never think of as a drug.

In the old days, I called it "aiming fluid"!!!

I played once after taking a xanax and all I tell you is that i don't remember playing or going home and sleeping for 12 hours. :)

Alcohol didn't use to have much effect on me especially in small portions like that. I guess because I drank 2 nights a week back then but now I don't hardly ever drink and boy is the effect different. My motor skills went downhill fast

I am in the exact same boat. Can't drink like I used to and seems no matter if I have 2 or 6, I wake up with the worst hang-overs.

Koop - head hurts right now as a matter of fact

Stories like this make me think about Greenleaf, Denny Searcy and the other old timers who would knock down a bunch of hard alcohol and then go play perfect.

A couple of pints usually drops the average player about 1-2 balls in nine ball after awhile. People get sloppy, play too fast, even if they've only had two beers.

Its worth a couple of bucks to buy a beer for certain players if you have some interest in seeing them play worse. They'll usually buy a few more after that and their game almost always suffers.

I have a daughter and work 55 hours a week therefore I don't go out too often anymore. I lived in Athens for about 8 years and was use to getting absolutely blitzed about 3-4 nights a week. Needless to say I could drink massive quantities of alcohol. My drink of choice is also Crown and Diet. I go to Athens or to Biloxi about once every couple of months or so now and I find that I can't just have 5-6 drinks but I have to drink like I use to and its just not possible. I now black out about 2 hours into drinking but sitll drink through the night. I always end up spending 3-400 and don't remember a lot. I also always feel like shit for about 2 days. It's just so much damn fun going out with friends at a pool tourney or at a casino and trying to hit on 22 year old hot college girls I can't help myself. I'll completely grow up one of these years.

After about 4 beers I'm usually playing my best, you just have to pace yourself and try to stay in the zone

LOL Good stuff.

Blanton's family reserve is my favorite but $55+ for a 1/5 adds up fast

Diet is all I can drink, I am getting old :(

Bill Brasky would down a gallon of Crown and then put a six pack on you !!

Drinks mixed with diet sodas hit you faster and harder that those made with regular soda. The diet lacks the sugar needed to process the alcohol. When you're drinking forgo the diet (drink diet when notdrinking booze if you like) and you'll last longer....
