I'm watching it on Netflix, Its a great show.

On season 7 Epsode 12, the show starts in a pool room called "Boss Billiards", Its a super funny scene. Chester cant hold a cue, and goes off on Doc Adams for sharking him. It is such a funny scene, I wish I knew how to get that 3 minute scene-to share here, anyone with Netflix can see it on a stream to their computer.

The balls were Centennials for sure, the show depicts Dodge City Ks. I'm guessing after the Civial War before WW1, so the balls dont the era. But the scene is great. Its a great show too.

I pay $8.99/month for unlimited movies streamed into my computer, its great, not every movie is avaliable, but lots are and ton's of TV shows. On Adam-12 I saw them drive Ye Old Billiard Den in LA, I paused it took a picture of the screne and emailed it to Jay, he identified the pool room, I wish it was open these days cause its close to my house.

Jim Rockford (leave your name and number and I'll get back to you) opened a chain of poolrooms in Korea when he was in the army. They have several scenes with pool tables. So far, they all suck and were not major plot elements.

Ironsides had a whole show about a hustler. They sucked too.

That Dennis Weaver has no respect for that table! Netflix rocks.

He is absolutely the worst player in the world, he has no chance ever make a ball. I have a friend who is 23 and plays that bad-its not acting.

Its a shame they don`t have shows like this anymore. Thats what my dad left us watch when we were kids. Marshall Dillion, Kitty, Doc, Festus, even old dirty Sally. Man I miss shows like that. Thanks for taking me back to the good old days Eric.

Growing up in the 60's I was watching Gunsmoke every week with my dad. It was by far his favorite show and I remember that episode. There were a few other episodes with the table in the back ground also. My father was slowed way down with emphysema for the last 5 years of his life and lived in a very remote part of the mountains so he had no TV. I can remember taping many Gunsmokes, The Rifleman and Bonanzas to give him something to do. Now I have my own kids watching the same shows and they like them:cool:.

That pool sceen is great.

Use to watch it as a kid. Wasn't old enough to understand that Miss Kitty ran something other than a saloon.

Watch Gunsmoke every morning on the Encore Western Channel, uncut and no commericals. Before that is Gene Autry, then Have Gun Will Travel.

Gunsmoke is then followed by Maverick.

Some of those old westerns are really corny. Gene Autry is the worst. Same plot every episode. The bad guys are introduced, Gene sings a song, there is a horse chase, runaway wagon, a fist fight and then a gun fight, Gene wins again. Somewhere in between Pat Buttram (what a name) acts like a clown.

Lone Ranger, Cheyenne, Rifleman, Cisco Kid, Wild Bill Hickok, Annie Oakly, The Rebel, Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, Sugerfoot, Roy Rogers, Zorro, Cochise, Rin Tin Tin, F Troop, Death Valley Days, Bonanza, Tales of Wells Fargo, Jim Bowie, Davy Crocket, Daniel Boone, Lawman, probably a bunch more that I have forgotten,

There were a ton of them in the 50's and early 60's and then they seemed to fizzle out. Glad to see some of them comming back.

Gun Smoke is my favorite old western, I like the ones with Festus the most, he and doc were great together. I dont like the Gene Autry Show either. Most of the rest you mentioned, I like, especially, Have Gun Will Travel, Jim Bowie, The Rebel, and The Rifleman. My favorite western of all time is
the new Tombstone with Kurt Russell and Val Kilmar. The Dead Wood series is also awesome, I wish they would finish that story. And Dances With Wolves is also a favorite.

How can you leave out Yancy Derringer? A New Orleans gentleman adventurer of western fantasy.

does anyone remember Yancy Derringer and his Indian sidekick?

Wasn't there a episode of Gunsmoke that involved a old man who was a former pool champion.A hustler came to town and a big match was set.A young man ,who had some connection to the former champion, bet against the old man as he doubted his abillities.Old man scratches on the 8 and loses.Later it is shown that the scratch was intentional and young man learns that he was wrong to doubt former champion!
Think that was the story anyway:D

jack albertson played the old man.
I remember watching that scene when i was a kid.
I believe it was a three rail bank to the side pocket.

Slim is right...

Jack Albertson portrayed a pool hustler BOTH on "Gunsmoke" and "Ironside". And I NEVER saw an actor give a more convincing performance as a good pool player, not even Fred Astaire. Albertson's fundamentals were really good, and he was a fine actor to boot. GF

I remember Yancy Derringer. The actor that played Yancy went on to play Tarzan, but I don't remember the name of the movie.

Thank God somebody else remembers Yancy. I liked the show because Yancy and the Indian always had some "secret" weapon or "secret" technique that they would utilize at the last second and save the day.

Maybe that's where my signature trademark for commentary comes from. Everyone loves a secret and JoeyA makes all of the pro players give us those secrets if they want to sit in the booth with him. It's the law. :D

Since everyone is cooking on this western theme and pool, I'll ask once more:

DOES ANYONE remember seeing the Western show/movie (on television) in black and white of the two men playing a game of 8 ball on horseback. The stakes were a beautiful woman and a large sum of gold (maybe, $10,000). The players were riding the horses and would move around the elevated pool table slowly and lean over from the saddle and take a shot from there. The winning shot was

CueTable Help

Come on, lie to me. Somebody tell me they know which show this scene took place. I've been looking for this information for twenty years. As I recall, I saw the show/movie on television somewhere in the mid to late 60's.
