Ok I need some imput. One day I think I should do ring work on the bottom same as the joint the next just a plain black buttcap. I just want to know what you guys think. Plain or match the rings same as the joint. Almost forgot to say thanks to Chris Bryne for the tips on doing the joint work with veneers. In my first post I forgot to mention that the cue is spoken for.

Thanks

My preference would be to use an Ivory Hoppe ring, second choice would be to match the joint ring work.

Yeah, me too!!

I would have to agree, a nice hoppe ring would look nice, and if not, matching the ringwork would be good too. But hoppe ring is my preference.

So is it for sale, and if so, how much? That way I can help you with your choice on hoppe ring:D

Thanks,

Michael

Matching

I I forgot to post this cue is for my Ex so its not avalible.I think im going to match the ring work. I like the idea of the hoppe ring it never crossed my mind. I think I will get the ball rolling on one with ebony and birdeye.

Thanks

i like the matching ringwork idea, but Hoppe sounds good too.definitely something other than butt cap though.the veneers look good, nice and thin.

I think this one would also look great with a beveled butt section like some of the snooker cues. I like the matching rings overall though.

Dustin, I would also have to agree about a Hoppe ring in the butt sleeve. While many would say go with an ivory Hoppe ring....I like to think outside the box, and so my cue, that should be hopefully done soon, has a Hoppe ring that is actually Satinwood, to match the Satinwood in the butterfly. I like the look. :)

Otherwise, I would go with a matching ring.

BTW....that cue looks hot!! :D Great job!

Jamie's idea is a great one. The hoppe ring will look great with an 1/8" black ring above & 3/8" black buttcap below a 1/4" white ring. Birdseye ring would look OK, too, but only if it's bright white birdseye & not yellow. Any white material will be fine. MPI would be a perfect ivory sub & would match the light color tones of the maple front without looking out of place due to brightness.

This Is My Suggestion

Match The Joint. I Think The Ivory Would Look Out Of Place On That Cue.

I agree with Marcus that the ivory would look out of place with the cue. What about doing a simple delrin butt cap?

Nice cue

Lisa thats a nice cue you have on order. Who is making it for you. It looks like a BHQ but that just a guess.

Thank you, Dustin. :) Brent makes a great cue, as my 10yr old step-daughter will attest to...she has a BHQ made just for her, and she just adores it!

This cue is actually being crafted by Murray Tucker. I got really, really lucky. :D He makes a terrific players' cue.

Keep up the good work, the cue looks great!

Updated pics

It looks perfect the way you made it. If I would've seen this thread earlier I could've posted a picture of a similar Al Romero cue so that you can see how a plain butt cap looks.

Here is the picture anyways:

I still love that cue! Too bad I was a day late and a dollar short on this one. :(
