I don't know how to title this

Pro Player
This is a very difficult post for me to make, as I have always been a fiercely proud and independant man. My wife is dying from three different kinds of cancer. My business is struggling and I have my own health problems but I'll probably live til' I'm at least 80. Besides family, friends and country the only thing that ever mattered to me was pool.
Instead of picking at me for for really bad reasons why not put forth a 100% AZ effort to get me invited to the Straight Pool tournament. I'd love to be AZ's pro and I have a lot to offer, especially with my new material, which will be coming out in Sept.
Some other things you probably don't know about me:
1. If an establishment had good equipment in a place I was working, I'd offer this to an owner: If I didn't run a 100, I'd work for nothing. If I did he'd pay me double.
2. I ran more than a hundred balls in 71 pool rooms, this with different balls, lights, tables and cloth.
3. I hold the high run record on tables with four inch pockets, one of these in the 180's.
4. I robbed, giving up weight, some much ballyhooed players, at 14.1. I won't mention their names for obvious reasons.
I'm not a bitter old man. I am opinionated but I can still play and it's criminal for me to not get to play in the 14.1 tournament.

If I had any power to get you in I sure would. Hell I think on motivation and guts alone you are going to be competitive regardless of the field. If and when you get an invite please by all means "kick some ass". Later Grady

I am so tired of all this crap. Welcome to my ignore list, Grady.

p.s. go earn a spot or shut the hell up.

I have stayed out of all these latest post made by Grady, but have read most of them. As I see it, I think it may be hard for anyone or anybody to get you into that tournament now, except maybe a divine power or Charlie Williams(definately not to be confused with each other). Another thing that surprises me is you still wanting to play in that tournament after all that has happened and what you have said about it. Good luck!

last night @ 6PM
Of course everybody is entitled to their opinion. Any poster who cannot see from the evidence I have presented that Charlie Williams is awful for our sport, I just don't think I could ever be your friend. That being said I permanently withdraw any desire or request to play in anything Charlie or the UPA does.
I apologize to everyone I may have offended. In the future I will try to only post about non-controversial subjects.

This morning @ 8AM

I am so confused.

It's obvious there is bad blood between you and CW. Why not sit down at the table with Charlie, and perhaps a mediator this time, and get this all sorted out - man to man. A real negotiation and exchange of information, not just a two-way finger pointing session.

I am certain there is someone out there that can facilitate an in person meeting and focus the discussion on the real issues. And, if you can't get it worked out in person - with the help of a neutral person - then there is probably nothing anyone here could do either.

I'm not trying minimize your efforts or contribution to the game - these are undeniable. But at this point in time, someone else is holding the reins and we're all passengers, just like you.

I assume I am still on Grady's ignore list, so I would appreciate it if someone would point out to Grady that the people on this forum can not get him into the tournament. However, he can win a qualifier.
Per the DP poster in another thread, there are 4 qualifiers scheduled in August. All Grady has to do is win one and earn a spot in the big show. If he wins a spot, even CW can't keep him out of the show.

Let's see if Grady will step up.

I'm sorry for your wife, Grady. I hope things turn around for her, she was a doll to me the one time we met.

Grady, the vast majority of people like you and wish you well but you started all this with your initial post and you did exactly the same thing last year on the exact same topic. What did you expect to happen?

I'm sorry to hear about your wife and your pool room.

grady,
i have never met charlie williams and he very well may be an ass. in fact that seems to be the opinion of many on this forum who have met him. that however does not change the fact that we as pool players who post on an internet forum have absolutely zero power to help you in your dealings with him. what would you have us do? write to him? and say what? and do you honestly think he would listen to us if he would not listen to you? i have said in a previous post to a thread you started, i believe you are truly a treasure to our game but i really do believe that starting multiple threads asking if people want you removed from the forum, complaining about not being invited to this tournament, and complaining about posters knocking you is hurting your image. besides, all i ever heard about you growing up was grady matthews = one pocket. legendary was a word i heard to describe your play. i understand you may love straight pool but screw charlie if he won't let you play. or definately screw him over, enter a qualifier, win your way in and shove it straight up his ass when you show up. this is starting to just look childish, much like crying over spilled milk. do not lower yourself to this level of begging on an internet forum. to hell with charlie and his tournament. you have enough friends in the pool playing community i'm sure, and if i'm not mistaken a room right here in GA. start you own tournament. don't give the little jackass the satisfaction. just my .02

Since Grady is so hellbent on playing in the World 14.1, and has been year after year, why in Gawds name doesn't he just win one of the many qualifiers already??

Grady you have a great record of getting added money for extremely well run tournaments.

Knowing your contempt for CW I don't understand your need for approval from them by getting an invite.

Here is my suggestion. Organize your own 14.1 tournament. I am fairly confident you could make the purse bigger and have a more satisfied field of players after the event was played. You could even call it the world championship, they don't own that name and if you added 1 dollar more who would argue? Many times intention is lost in writing. None of this is meant as sarcasm.

Just a thought.

I can sure see how you're running out of titles.

7/10/2009 - Predator World 14.1
7/16/2009 - Grist for the mill
7/18/2009 - This is all I have to say.
7/18/2009 - More on the subject
7/21/2009 - Since you asked
7/22/2009 - What do you think of this?
7/22/2009 - I give
7/23/2009 - Something good may come of this after all
7/23/2009 - Attn: Mr. Wilson
7/24/2009 - I don't know how to title this

In order for an event to be titled "world championship", it must be sanctioned by the WPA. Only one event can receive that sanctioning in each discipline (ie; 8ball, 9ball, 10ball 14.1 etc). I expect if another event attempted to call itself
a 14.1 world championship, it would get played out in court rather than on a pool table.

Didn't Trudeau call the 8 ball championship betw Sigel and Loree Jon Jones a World Championship along with some others? Did anyone sue in that instance?
