I enjoy all the posts on here but...

I think we need to tighten up the posting while intoxicated laws.
Posting under the influence (PUI) is illegal in some countries.
This is why the marijuana laws are changing.
Try smoking a big ole torpedo by yourself and see how much forum trouble you feel like getting into.

If you want drama search for these things:

Just about anything NPR.....this is just a few of them.

First and foremost, you are relatively new here and you and we're pleased to have you as one of our newer members. You have quickly embraced participation in the forum discussions, and that's great.

Unfortunately, yes, it's always like this. The name calliing threads are really no worse than the threads that are hijacked onto some subject having absolutely no relevance to the original post, but there is no getitng away from either these days.

As a serious participant in the main forum, I've come to view AZB surfing as online archaeology ---- if you dig long enough, you're sure to find some gems.

Today was no different, when I found a very short thread about the Mosconi Cup, it's television potential, and there was a post from America's WPA Board Member Jerry Forsyth succinctly encapsulating the economics of pool on TV, and offering much information about the views of American TV networks on the professional pool product. Threads like that one are priceless and make the entire AZB experience worthwhile.

In case you missed that thread, here is a link http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=295832 you can follow.

The short answer is "yes, its always like this."

Sad to report. Sadder still to sift through it all. Cuz there is a lot of great content here, once you dig thru the crap.

Being behind a computer screen compels people to write things that they would not say to people face to face.

Again, its sad, but its the way it is.

I have to disagree...but then again you could be right on the money..lol
I have a few friends that love to disagree..an my wife
thinks we're argueing all the time..lol..I just say no,
thats how we communicate while playing pool..lol.
must omit there are times I want to pull the plug an
send everyone home..but then I'd have no one to rack
for me..On a good note..one of the younger fellows won
the scotch double at the APA event at the coast last weekend.
so I guess the argueing paid off for him an his partner..
sorry for stealing space..but some times name calling pays
off..1,150 dollars not bad..I guess he won a couple mini
tournament too..yes.it sad about the conflicts that
go on..but I learn from some of those as well..I like you
dub..you get in there an stay pos..hats off to you.

I love debating & discussing as much as the next person but it can be done without all the animosity; people are always going to disagree but it is possible to get that across without the arguing.

Based upon my experience in business and personal life, family life, etc. , the answer to that is a good solid "no", although, like you, I wish it weren't the case.

I've been told that there are forums where it's not usually like this, where the mods keep a tight rein on rudeness, namecalling, etc.

I've spent time on a couple of other forums and so far they all seem about the same.

It's probably not realistic to expect the rude people to have a change of heart and start acting civilized, it will probably take some gentle nudging from the forum police. If necessary, nudge 'em right out the door.

I'm a member of another forum where politics and religion are strictly forbidden and and enforced. No, absolutely no, name calling or heated arguing. Unfortunately, it's not a billiard forum. They have a huge membership and the rules are such that you get two warnings and that's it, more and you are banned for good. I really enjoy my time on that forum, I just don't do the activity as often anymore.

Some people watch The Learning Channel and others watch Jerry Springer and they all hang out on AZ.

I've posted on forums like that, and on unmoderated free-for-alls as well. The latter are far more interesting than the former.

People should join match.com if they want to get laid.

I don't find that sad at all. What's sad is when folks are coward to say how they really feel face to face. That is for opinions of course, not blatent insults.

I was once on a motorcycle forum where no curse words were allowed. Can you believe that? A motorcycle forum. Even words like heck, durn, and shucks, were frowned upon.
I got my sorry ass out of that place after my first post.

AZ is, in my opinion, one of the best, and as pool players we're very lucky to have it. The freedom to express our opinions here is extraordinarily generous, and in the main, the little squabbles that do arise are few and far between.
I will say, however, that the Great Aiming War of times past did cost millions of dollars, and took thousands of lives. Luckily we made it through in one piece.

Of course the aiming wars took thousands of lives......everyone learned how to aim!

take what is useful from here and "put the rest on the shelf in your mind

I really enjoy coming on here & reading all the posts about pool along with the back & forth between everyone. It just seems like there's lots of name calling, insulting, & rudeness going on as well, is it always like this? I love debating & discussing as much as the next person but it can be done without all the animosity; people are always going to disagree but it is possible to get that across without the arguing.

Where else can you train your "Game" in compassion, tolerance and understanding? For me it pays off on days like yesterday, to hear from those that have it "much tougher" than we do and really see the "evils of the world". 'Life is the Teacher'

One Very Important Lesson I learned from competing at pool, mostly in places where I was "the stanger to beat", is it's not personal. No one's doing it "to me", they're just "doing it", and would still be{doing it} if I was never even born. They're learning lessons in life as well and this is the path they have chosen as "their teacher".

There's many things to learn in the world and the "virtual world", so take what is useful from here and "put the rest on the shelf of your mind".

Glad to see you voicing your opinions, suggestions and concerns. OLoha

Fast Larry was like that! Disagree with him and out came the christian platitudes and homophobic obscenities, all in the same sentence. He thought he'd never run into anyone face to face. A few years back at SBE he did, indeed, run into someone and got popped. He ran crying to security despite his karate black belt. I understand Larry is no longer invited back:wink:

you can make them "famous someday" if.........

Edit your profile and lie about your income. Chicks dig rich dudes.

Put "Movie Producer" under your occupation and tell them you can make them "famous someday" if..........

Lol. It never ceases to amaze me how some people cannot separate fact from fiction.

You definitely need tolerance here sometimes as I've seen, thankfully everyone so far has been very kind to me as I've tried to be :) I realize there are people who just enjoy arguing & insulting to try to prove their point & although that's not how I go about things, it does prove to be very entertaining at times. I'm the type of person that will be nice to people as long as are being nice to me, which so far has been everyone I've interacted with on here.

I have seen some useful things discussed here & have learned things I didn't know.

On another note, hope y'all kick butt in London & bring that cup home! I'll be watching the stream when I'm able.
