A lot of complainers / haters / bashers just don't get it. They lack perspective.
They see things only from one point of view - that of a pretty good pool player looking
to get better, go to vegas, maybe win a few bucks.
They ignore the perspective of the casual amateur, or the league operator trying to make a living,
or the large corporation (which has plenty of competition) that must grow, stay profitable, or die.
Everything that we see people cry about... the handicapping, the 23 rule,
the decision to play with slop, allow golden breaks, remove pushout, ban jump cues...
all of that stuff was carefully thought out by some very smart businessmen who understand pool.
It's all done with one major goal: to be amateur friendly.
That's why the APA is probably 5x more successful than its nearest competitor.
But some good players don't care whether it's a success, or growing, or making a profit,
or if it makes bad players feel good about themselves.
All they care about is "This is bullshit, I lost to a guy who doesn't even know how to hold
the stick, because of their retarded no-pushout rule, and this bullshit handicap.
Screw this, I'm done with APA."
It's a blow to their ego to play in a league where being a better shooter
and practicing more, doesn't necessarily give them any advantage (or respect)
over some scrub who plays once a week half-drunk.
So they quit, maybe find a different league, and they go around calling the APA a "noob league",
because it makes them feel like pros to say "Screw that kiddie shit, I'm playing in the big boy league now."
It's the same mindset that makes people bash 8-ball even though they can't get out of a rack of 9-ball either.
