I have 1 year to become the best player on the planet, no time for stuff that doesn't work, what do I do?

Shoot long dead in shots hitting center cue ball till you own them.
...this will be your foundation.

I like your posting style....

Do the exams on Billiard University,(Dr.Dave) use them for practice between qualified instruction, spend 80+ hours a week practicing and another 20 or so playing seriously. Take every match with a better player you can get. With dedication you can make the 2016 Mosconi Cup team. Good luck, keep us apprised of your progress.

Aloha

You're 90% there already if it's a good stick. You didn't mention chalk, that's another easy 5% if you buy the right cube.

Find a woman who enjoys warming the pockets with her feet.
You'll notice an instant improvement in your stance and stroke.
Playing off the rails will require constant dedication and practice.
Always remember. Position position position and a good leave

I've been playing for a long time, won some local tournaments, and even beaten some pros. I posted this question to see what opinions everyone has on the best way to improve if you're really serious about improving. A lot of people like gimmicks and quick fixes, and there is a lot of bad stuff(books and videos) out there along with a lot of good stuff. Good sound advice from seasoned players and instructors is what I'm after, not only to help myself, but anyone else who is serious about improving...what is that one thing; practice drill, instructional advice, mental training...etc. that really took your game to a new level?....Thanks!

I'd like to hear the answer to the question posted ... "what size table?"

1) quit your job and leave your family

2) take a 3 hour lesson once a week

3) do drills for 2 hours a day

4) meaningful practice alone 3 hours a day

5) play against better players 3-4 hours a day

6) enter local tournaments at least once a week

7) watch pro matches on you-tube for an hour or two during dinner.

I like the way it covers the fundamentals, and it's pretty much the only video I've found that goes thoroughly over how to play position in a way that's useful in game. Every other time I've searched for information on playing position, it just shows you a single shot, and what happens to the cueball if you hit it in a certain spot. This is the best video I've found that talks about why you want to take a certain line, versus showing all the lines you can take. If someone could show me other similar content, I'd be super grateful. I've been having trouble finding in depth position play material.

Forget about all the nonsense advice regarding long hours of practice. Your ticket to the top is as follows......

BUY AS MANY LOW DEFLECTION SHAFTS THAT YOU CAN AFFORD. YOU WILL NEVER MISS ANOTHER BALL........
