Well - I'm off today. It is 8:09 in the morning and I was flipping through channels. I came across a show called "Shop America" and low and behond, but our very own Kevin Trudeau is on there selling his weight loss "cure" (a new book he has written).

I realize now why this guy is *loaded*. He is a heck of a salesman. He is going on about this and that and how he has found the cure for weight loss, I mean....he is non-stop and believable. I don't need to lose weight, and I'm almost ready to buy his book...LOL.

His discovery is the "hypo-thalmous" gland which apparently triggers fat people to want to eat all of the time. Dr. Williebetmore, are you in the house? Is this legit? He talks like you'll read this book, and (he literally says this - but he is convincing) weight will literally start melting off without diet or exercise. I mean.....isn't that what people who struggle with obesity want to hear?

I'm not insulting or supporting this guy....all I'm saying is, he is a hell of a salesman.

I was talking about this with a friend who knows sales. He was telling me that some guys will actually get themselves to BELIEVE the crap they are saying is real in order to sway the mark. Some kind of sales/zen/jedi mind trick stuff.

Personally I think guys like our hero haven't seen the truth in so long they forgot what it looks like, so whatever they decide to say sounds like they are spouting the gospel.

The sad thing is, as bad as KT is, most politicians could give him the same spot.

In April 2007, Trudeau released another book, titled "The Weight Loss Cure They Don't Want You to Know About". The book describes a 3 phase multi-month plan originally made famous by British endocrinologist A.T.W. Simeons in the 1950s. The first phase involves switching to all organic foods with repeated colonic and liver cleansing. This is followed by a 2nd-phase period of daily hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) injections under the direction of a healthcare provider. In Phase 3, use of hCG stops, but food must continue to be 100% organic. Other recommended activities include walking an hour a day or more and doing breathing exercises.

Critics note that as early as 1962, the Journal of the American Medical Association warned against the Simeons Diet.[18] Others note that in 1976, the FTC ordered clinics and promoters of the Simeons Diet and hCG to cease making false claims about the effectiveness of hCG and its approval status by the FDA for weight loss.[19] Clinical research trials published by the Journal of the American Medical Association and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition[20] have shown that hCG is ineffective as a weight-loss aid.

The man is slippery smooth.

I swore that I would never watch or listen to this POS ever agin. The other day day I was flipping through the channels and there he was. App 15 minutes later I turned the dam thing off. I was actually hot at myself for it.

You can say that again. All you have to do is watch the news and listen to some of the ridiculous statements and promises our politicians come up with. What's really sad is a lot of people believe them.

No, it's not legit. The man is evil, and we should all be insulting him, not supporting him.

I would hope that there is a special ring in Dante's hell for snake oil salesman who feed off the desperate people with incurable disease. Perhaps he will end up with a horrifyingly painful tumor, and be condemned to spend eternity with a bunch of demon's feeding him flaxseed oil supplements. JMO.

P.S. - It would be well for all to remember that just because you say it in a convincing voice on television; that does NOT make it true.
 
I basically stopped eating and lost my appetite, and about 12lbs since July 4th. Shirley's dropped 13.

She wanted Middle Eastern food for lunch yesterday (no breakfast, doctor's appt.). We each had a slice of pita bread with babaganoush, two or three bites of rice, and a couple bites of shish kabab meat.

No dinner, played pool at DannyK's til eleven, then a slice of bread with peanut butter before bed (ok, not so good, but better than a big Snickers bar).

Couple bites of grilled Salmon this morning. Could eat more, but not starving. Prolly have cottage cheese with plain yogurt topped with Greek olives for lunch.

How much should I send KT?

Not even if you stay at a Holiday Inn before the show ? :D

If you want an interesting read, the introduction in this weight loss book may be it ... the condescending tone and F-you attitude comes across all too well, imo. I would not give KT one red cent for any of his books.

Dave, likes Willies idea that we should just insult the man :D

I have been meaning to start a thread about this too. I have scanned passed the channel with his weight loss informercial and watched it long enough to see that he is giving away his other three books when you buy his latest one. (I thought he was banned by the courts from doing any infomercial)

Also in my area on a popular talk radio station, they have a commercial when some guy who says he liked the book "Natural Cures, What they don't want you to know about", so much he bought a million copies, and is giving them away for absolutely FREE. Then he gives an 800 number.

I guess KT is up to new ways to make a buck.
 
I was flipping through the stations one day and saw him (didn't recognize him at first) talking about Natural Cures. At first, he wasn't directly referencing things in the book but rather telling stories that were very compelling. It got me interested until I saw what he was selling. Now this is not an easy thing. I know a lot about nutrition and real medicine (hopefully starting med school next year). The guy is amazingly slick. His actions, however, should be criminal.
 
Your post is too long, now I need to buy KT's book on "How to be a Fast Reader." I like his pitch on this one, be a lighting reader with 90% retention.

I agree. My mother had weight problems all of her life. She worked a corporate job and also worked part times in a department store selling women's clothing. She was a true workaholic. She ate normally - but was always clinically obese. She couldn't eat "less" than what she already did and keep up the schedule she did. I guess if she had known about that surgery back then she would have tried it (where they tie off your stomach essentially). Her weight ended up killing her. She had a mid-grade stroke in 2000, diabetes, and in 2001 she discovered cancer that had metastisized all over (incurable). Her company donated MILLIONS to Vanderbilt Cancer center over the years, and basically told them to do whatever they had to (experimental and otherwise) to save her. She went through tons of different chemos and lasted another year. Originally they gave her 4 months. She fought hard until the end.........but this is the kind of person Trudeau is preying upon. People looking for a miracle and willing to try anything.

He will get busted for this one the FTC is going after weight loss programs now like never before, the Feds will get him here easily and its their top priority now, the hispanic market is second on the list, my source of information on this is directly from the FTC Federal Trade Commission and my high priced Washington DC lawyers, it was credit scams a few years ago.


love him ot hate him he is a great salesman, infact he might be the strongest single salesman there is today, i give credit where credit is due. Even with some pool players I have known and not got along with i still give them credit for their game their personalitys have nothing to do with their game.


Fat people are desperate to lose weight and he is going after that market, like pool is desperate for $$$ thats why he started the tour-I believe with good intentions and it got ugly fast and hurt alot of people. KT dosent play small in anything he does, I still dont like the guy though

Most likely that guy is for real. He'll just ask for your credit card # to cover the shipping for the books.

Heck, you might even get the books. You'll also get charged an 89.95 membership fee at some point in the future.

KT is really slick. This other guy is probably just a paid flunky. He exists only to set up another company unassociated with KT. The credit card scams start from a new business, and millions flow to KT.

I believe Kevin Trudeau's book about weight loss would be effective if he would put his face on the front cover. just seeing his face makes you lose your appetite.
