I need HELP!

For quite a while, I have been on here and jealously read people report they are getting a room in their house for a pool table.

Very recently, my wife and I sold our house in DC (yes, actually DC and not a suburb) and have bought a house in nearby Arlington, VA that has enough room in the basement for a pool table. Enough room for a 9 foot table! I am over the moon excited
I have been showing her pics of tables I want, and want her to have a say on the purchase of our home table. I wanted a Diamond ProAm, but that wasn't "pretty enough" for the wife.

She has agreed that the Diamond Paragon meets her aesthetic requirement. So, my question is this: Who do I contact for the purchase and set up of this table? I want this installed in the basement, which has a stairway and door access, and want to know how I can figure out if a one piece slate is a possibility.

Thanks for the help, I have long envied people here installing home tables. Now I am able to get one and need help of the billiard community. I'm a bit particular and want a really sweet set up.

Help Please!!!!!

Tim

I remember back in about 1980 my boss had to get rid of his one piece slate table and buy a three piece.
If you live near by me I will be out on a posse looking for hombres the day it happens.

You can contact Diamond directly, and buy directly from Diamond, and their installers will deliver and set it up for you. I do believe a 9-foot one piece slate is out of the question unless it is a ground level access, as they bring it in off their truck in one piece, on a cart. The Paragon model is available in 3-piece slate, as are all their models. Good luck!

my guess is that you would be happier with a brunswick
unless you are
trying to get a table exactly like the one you play on away from home

call mark gregory for the technical reasons
or for some pictures of some of his work and the
great tables that your wife might like

have you seen the "centennial" or ,anniversary or Gold Crowns

I really would prefer either one to Diamond

Also buying a new table usually means a big financial loss

You can get a better table for a few thousand or less if you shop

best wishes
Dean

No help, just saying congrats.

And as far as the Pro-Am, well you know what they say, "If Momma aint happy, nobody happy."

But she picked a good one, just the same.

This is great news. Get the table you like. Buy right the 1st time. And It's all about the installer....Find the best in the area and you'll enjoy your table for years and years.

Table

I'm sure your game will get better quickly!

It's in the basement. It's your table. Your dream.

Get the table you want. It's not like you're putting it in the entry hallway. She can decorate the living room, kitchen and bedroom.

Lots of real 9 footers with three piece slate to get down there. Diamond Pro is as real as it gets.

Don't settle for some goofy furniture table. Have your wife treated for her first world syndrome. It's a bad disease that needs to be nipped in the bud.

All good thoughts.

Not sure a Paragon is a goofy furniture table, and I have heard it plays very much like a Pro Am.

I think I need a 3 piece slate and will contact Diamond. I also like the gold crown idea.

Anyone know of a good table mechanic in Northern Virginia?

Anyone have Mark Gregory's number?

Wrong attitude. Domestic tranquility is important. Either she is happy, or no table.

If your wife wants the Paragon, go for it! That is the best looking table Diamond makes, imo. It has the exact same top as the Pro/Am, so they play exactly the same.

I don't know if you also saw Diamond makes a Professional model (different than the Pro/Am). It also has the same top, and plays exactly the same. It looks much better than the Pro/Am imo, with the way the legs and aprons are arranged. Some of the pictures on Diamond's site of the Professional are what it looked like 20 years ago. The newer version looks better.

Finally, I'd recommend you go play on a Diamond if you have not yet, before you buy. There is much controversy over how the ball bounces off of their rails, and how the ball drops into the pocket, as compared to a Brunswick Gold Crown. You either love the Diamond play, or hate it, ha ha.

Congrats on the new house and the space for a table.

John Burns in Baltimore area is the best you will find near DC. He won’t do 1 piece slate though. Think his website is classicbilliardservice.

I PM'd you Mark's contact info.

Good luck and congratulations.

Edited to add: Mark's a workaholic that lives and breathes pool tables. I bet he'll answer at any reasonable hour on any day.

This is so wrong of me of me and I deserve hate mail and death threats but in reference to the Paragon Diamond....take away the legs and aprons the table has potential. GoldCrown or Diamond Pro....please

I am not a bog fan of the paragon, either...but I bet it plays good enough to eat crackers in bed...and not get kicked our of that bed.

John Burns serviced my buddies table. My friend bought a table from who knows where...the installation was as thrown together as it gets. John Burns re-did the level and cloth. John comes highly recommended.
