I think it is a Good Idea! - Pool Shoes.

Being short, most of my pant legs are long. I like the elongated look that extra heel height gives me. I wear a lot of them for business for when I don't have to walk that far. At a tournament, you usually only need to be up on them for an hour at a time, and I can wear medium high heels for that, then sit down afterwards until the next match. With the IPT, I'm not so sure I will have the luxury of doing that. I guess I will just bring different shoes to the room and switch them out when my feet get tired. :o

With a dress code, we do need female dressier shoes with a medium heel that can let us stand/walk comfortably for hours at a time, that also look good. Stick a picture of a pool ball on that and we are good to go. :D
your talking of a dress code of a medium heel......i say let each individual decide what is comfortable for them......maybe a person has a foot problem (they could have injured themselves when they were younger sticking their feet in a toilet ! LOL) why should a person then have to spend money and time getting a medical excuse for a certain shoe..........i say if it's comfortable let them wear it........the restriction could be limited to a single colored shoe either black or brown tone.........no two tones ......what say u ?

Them are fighting words to a shoe freak. :p No, basic black or brown would not cut it for a woman. We need our multi-color shoes. I think men would be ok for any dress loafer that was comfy and I know there are several around, because business men have to wear them all the time. Seems like women get EITHER comfort or looks. Look how many business women wear tennies to walk to work, then put on the heels once they get there to go with the suit. Not fair.

I can recommend these for every poolroom.

I posted ealier about a guy in our poolhall who will go for anything.
Yesterday I told him about the "foot flushing routine" and looked at me for a long few seconds and said he would have to think on it. Every time he went to the mens room several were following hoping to bust him.
Well, I wen t back late last night and they were all talking about it and giving the guy the business about it. He finaally said he was going to try it.
Finally he heads to the john and I don't say anything and try to sneak up on him. So, I go into the john and he is in the stall and I'm allcrouched down trying to look under and he is taking off one of his lace-up boots and I am doing everything I can to keep from LMAO, when suddenly somebody pushes me in the back and I sprawl all over the floor and there are two young local gals at the door laughing their butts off at me and calling me Pervy and all sorts of stuff.
The whole room was in on it, and got me good. I guess as much as I have pulled on these people, I had it coming.
Anyway, I am through with the foot flushing. Somebody though is going busted today.

WE didn't know (for sure) if you would go for it!

This has all been set up by your buddies at the poolroom via PM's.

.... Critics, scoff as you wish, but I'll wear shoes that keep my old feet comfortable.

Later,

I scoff not at the idea that you need comfortable shoes, but of the idea of a particular style of shoe gets it done for everybody. What works for me (old style Nikes, waffle sole in all), doesn't work for you. Even baseball, football, basketball, etc. players don't all wear the same style shoes. I don't think there are enough pool players to justify making multiple styles and I don't think enough of a single style would be bought by the limited number of players there are.

Amen, comfort should be the byword whether it is barefoot like OHB in the old days or cowboy boots. Whatever is comfortable in clothes in shoes should be the only thing a player should have to be concerned about. Screw dress codes. I hate the "plumber's crack" style of pants many kids wear today, but that's their call, if they want to look dumb so what.

Of course most women aren't wearing heels, because comfort precludes them, which is why we do need some good-looking pool shoes - Allison and Karen wear very sensible looking shoes. I'm thinking more along the lines of Jeanette, Jennifer B. In other words, WWJD? ;)

I don't think it was via pms. I don't think any of these guys can spell pm.
I guess that says a lot for me, they trapped me pretty good. I gotta admitt that it turned out pretty funny.
Tom, did that guy from EPTX ever call you? Just curious.

If thats not him - he's a dead ringer for him.

The shoe idea is about as good as the chalk on a stick idea but after all most hardcore league players and wannabes worldwide have one of those chalk sticks hanging out of their pocket. So there may be a market for pool shoes i m sure all the groupie types would love them.

I use a "chalk on a stick" thing aswell, nothings more irritating than not having a chalk, or the ones that are there are worn through to the other side....also I don't want to wonder where the hell the chalk went when I'm shooting...

it is a striking resemblance

Ecco's are the best shoes for your feet in our opinion. I know several players here in Michigan that have them for pool. Smart choice if you ask me. Since the player must dress appropriately for most upper level tournaments and cannot wear tennis shoes this is the shoe of choice in our opinion. You get an athletic type shoe with awesome support but it is somewhat dressy in appearance.

Actually, I overheard a few pool players discussing the topic of pool shoes recently.

Some high-profile venues require a male player to wear leather shoes and no sneakers. It was stated that many brands of dress leather shoes for men are uncomfortable to shoot pool in, much less stand on your feet all day long during a tournament.

The important features the players agreed on were that the shoes must be lightweight and comfortable, but most important, it is imperative that they have traction on the bottom of the shoe to prevent slippage, made of rubber.

Having experienced shoe-shopping recently for men's dress shoes, I realize that dress shoes and playing pool poses a problem for some male pool players.

Nike and FootJoy make a Golf "Teaching" shoes that look like dress shoe. You can play golf in them, play pool in them, stand out on the range in them or stand behind the counter in them all day long....and they don't slip on carpet, tile, wood, etc.

Here is an example of the Nike shoe.

Refreshing your feet

That's funny about the feet washing Tom. I always thought the worst of pool players who regularly visit the bathroom. Now I know I have been wrong all these years. Thanks for sharing that unique technique of refreshing the tired feet. :-)
JoeyA (ashamed) but still don't know if he has the balls to try it.

Waaaaaaay Back in the early '60's (hippy days) I used to play all the time in bare feet. I loved it. There was something about it that made me more energetic and quick. During long sessions back then, I would take a break and wash my face, hands and put my foot (one at a time) into the toilet and flush. It was very refreshing and I could play for hours that way.
Way later in life, I told Louie about this because he sometimes would be playing for days on end. After a couple of days (in the same shoes and socks), there could be an odor. He liked the idea so much that he started doing it even when only playing for 6 or 8 hours.
Now I just wear NB walking shoes - and not for long.
