I think it is a Good Idea! - Pool Shoes.

I read this earlier today and then went to the pool hall. We have a guy down here who will go for a red light. So, I told him about flushing the feet routine. Another guy standing close by backed me up on it, so I think we sold him.
The first time he went to the mens room, 3 guys followed him. They said he stood in the stall for about 3 minutes and finally came out. I surely hope I'm the one to bust him.
This is the same guy who dreamed he played Jesus Christ. He said, "man, that dude can really play"!
LOL BUT Did he come out of the stall refreshed ??????? LOL LOL LOL

Pool shoes are silly. Some places have tile floors some wood some carpet. Its not like bowling shoes or for that matter sneakers for basketball or cleats for golf.
Sorry if I am raining on your parade but, thats just my take on the subject. Maybe it will go over with the ladies, they are usually into their shoes.

I should of mentioned that I only wear either Rockports or New Balance,so maybe the idea for some is not silly at all.

I would think designing shoes that are like the ones ER nurses wear would be the most comfortable.

OHB, did you ever get a squishy?:D

Anyone ever tried Dr. Scholl's Memory Fit Customizing Insoles? It really makes playing pool comfortable to the feet JMHO.

I have always been partial to the flushing power of a Kohler (model K-3497) OR an American Standard with a 5 gallon tank.

I have found these two can give a complete wash/massage in 1 or 2 flushes.
I really hate these new fangled toilets that flush when you walk away from them.
I'm not as quick as I used to be and running back and forth to catch "The Flush" is very frustrating.

Pool shoes have been made for several decades now..they are sold under the original name of "Gym Shoes"

Yes, that is what most people wear, however I think this is more for tournament play with a nice dress code.

Well, the problem is looking like Karen Corr, rather than Jeanette Lee! Can't we get comfortable SEXY footwear or do they have to be mutually exclusive?

i agree .i never meant it to be a uniform for everyone...i only suggested the uniform shop as i was looking for a comfortable pair of shoes and those shoes the Postal workers wear were perfect for me...playing pool i wear gym shoes.....i would never want to impose a standard so called uniform for the players.....whatever a Player deems comfortable they should wear...but never any so called gangsta clothes with pants down and underwear hanging out.....high heals would be out as ties for men...pool players should be comfortable........and while we are at it add a rule that every 30 minutes a player could go into the toilet and refresh themselves !!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Kenneth Cole makes some reasonably cool shoes, and most of them come with rubber soles and aren't stiff sided. Maybe I'm in a minority, but I don't like shooting in sneakers. They've got too much traction, which makes it tough to settle into your stance.

pool shoes

I think the idea of pool shoes are a good idea. Playing for long periods of time would make my feet hurt. My job requires me to wear safety shoes. I switched to Wolverine work shoes and now I think I could stand on concrete for 8 hours with no problem. I make sure I wear these when I know I'll be playing all day. I think they help me. No slippage problems and they feel good.

I like the idea of Pool shoes especially designed with the
Pool player in mind. I have emailed Reebok, Nike, and
even Deno about this idea. If Kevin was to develop this,
he could have signature IPT shoes, and perhaps recover
some of his capital outlay for the IPT tour.

Lots of variety could be done as far as dressing them up
and the styles. Crossed lil cues, little figures shooting,
8 and 9 balls on them, or a trio of different balls, IPt logo,

Imagine a neat pair with a photo type image of Efrren on
the top looking at you or shooting as someone walked up to you.

It seems like a nice finishing touch for a 'Pool outfit', something
that really might catch on with teenagers and early 20's crowd
for casual wear.

(yes, I like my shoes to look good with my clothes, I have
dark blue denim shoes, gray leather casual shoes, dark tan suede shoes, you get the idea ... lol)

Of course, they would have to be comfortable, and padded
REAL WELL. I think it is a money maker. What do you think?

I know every pool player would buy at least 1 pair for each of
his or her family ... lol

I suppose. BUT were not talking about pool players. Just people that imitate a pool player. Well whatever, buy an SAS style you like your feet wiil feel good even if you can't make three friggin balls.

< If you look hard enough,Nike and Reebok both make excellent dress/walking shoes. In my own experience, for a long day at a tournament it's hard to beat either the old school Reebok Ex-O-Fits,with the velcro strap at the top,or in my mind the perfect pool shoe, the Air Jordan. You can hardly go wrong with a fresh pair of K-Swiss either. If you want to bling out,get a pair of Stacy Adams. I am a total believer in the value of having an extra pair of shoes and fresh socks in the car during a tournament. Tommy D.

I just found another great toilet for feet.

Elgin makes a small corner toilet that can almost suck your toes off.
I can recommend these for every poolroom.

My main shoes for shooting pool is Doc Martens, but I also shoot in DC sneakers when I know I am gonna be up and about a lot.

btw. Cant believe this thread made it to 4 pages.

I'm wondering what J.Lee would have to say about it...damn it she plays on high-heels. :D

Being short, most of my pant legs are long. I like the elongated look that extra heel height gives me. I wear a lot of them for business for when I don't have to walk that far. At a tournament, you usually only need to be up on them for an hour at a time, and I can wear medium high heels for that, then sit down afterwards until the next match. With the IPT, I'm not so sure I will have the luxury of doing that. I guess I will just bring different shoes to the room and switch them out when my feet get tired. :o

With a dress code, we do need female dressier shoes with a medium heel that can let us stand/walk comfortably for hours at a time, that also look good. Stick a picture of a pool ball on that and we are good to go. :D

I like wearing shoes which have grip but also allow for easy twisting and don't have a large heel. Something runners are not designed for. Some examples are athletic shoes such as shot put and discus shoes, martial arts shoes and also dancing shoes.

But really, it doesn't make much difference to performance.

How about shoes for the end of your cue...we could call them "tips" :p

Style could be added, but comfort has to be designed in. I play in ECCO's. ECCO's run about $160 a copy, for the SeaWalker Or Cross shoe. I've won way more tham 500 times the costs of the shoes... the comfort is there.

A Good Stroke starts with the right stance

Well actually in the 80s (I think) someone did come out with pool shoes. I have an old brochure from a company called STANCE out of Crawfordsville, Indiana. They came out in scarlet, charcoal and blue with silver. They had an "S" with a nine ball as their logo. They sold for $47. I could be wrong, but I think Howard Vickery was endorsing them. If I can figure out how to get the picture posted, I will. Seems my file is too big.
